Summary During the period 1989–1992 106 hares were shot and investigated at 6 week intervals in the farming regions of central, south, and east Bohemia and southern Moravia. The total fat contents of the livers were determined (Table) and a histological diagnosis made (Figs. 1 and 2). An abnormally high fat content was recorded for 20 cases. The results were explained on the basis of the seasonal availability of food and the type of crops produced.

Résumé Au cours des années 1987 à 1991 et de six en six semaines, 106 lièvres ont été abattus à des fins de recherche dans des territoires agricoles de Bohême centrale, méridionale et orientale de même qu'en Moravie du Sud. La teneur totale en graisses du foie est communiquée (cf. Tableau) et un diagnostic histologique est posé (Fig. 1 et 2). Dans 20 des cas, une dégénérescence graisseuse fut observée. On fait un rapprochement entre ces constations et les ressources alimentaires disponibles au cours de l'année de même que le type de productions agricoles cultivées.

Zusammenfassung In den Jahren 1987 bis 1991 wurden in sechswöchigem Abstand 106 Hasen in landwirtschaftlich genutzten Gebieten Mittel-, Süd- und Ostböhmens sowie Südmährens für die Untersuchung erlegt. Der Gesamtfettgehalt der Leber wurde ermittelt und ein histologischer Befund erstellt. In 20 Fällen bestand eine Leberverfettung. Die Ergebnisse werden mit dem Nahrungsangebot im Jahresverlauf sowie mit der Art der landwirtschaftlich angebauten Produkte erklärt.
