    Notes: Abstract Ruthenocenoyl-glycine (ruppuran) is a metallocene analog of iodo-labeled hippuran. After injection of 103Ru-labeled ruppuran and ruthenocenoyl-1,1′-diglycine in rabbits, measurement with external detectors revealed a very rapid accumulation in the kidneys followed by rapid excretion of the 103Ru activity. By measurement of the radioactivity concentration in plasma and urine samples collected 1–60 min after IV injection, the plasma clearance was calculated and compared with the clearance of 125I-labeled hippuran injected simultaneously. The clearance of ruppuran and ruthenocenoyl-diglycine in rabbits was found to be somewhat higher than that of hippuran. Extrapolating to man (1.73 m3), plasma clearance with both ruthenocene derivatives was approximately 500–600 ml/min. Biochemical data as well as the nuclear properties of 97Ru indicate the usefulness of 97Ru-labeled ruthenocenoyl-glycine as a radiopharmaceutical for kidney function studies.

    Description / Table of Contents: Synthesis of Radioactive Metallocenes with 59Fe, 103Ru, and 191OsBy heating of inactive ferrocene derivatives with radioactive metall halides, i. e. 103RuCl3, radioactive metallocenes are synthesized with yields between 5 and 70% with 103RuCl3 or 59FeCl3 and nearly 1% with 191OsCl4. The radioactive metallocenes can be separated easily from radioactive by-products by TLC.
    Notes: Durch Erhitzen von nicht-radioaktiven Ferrocen-Derivaten mit radioaktiven Metallhalogeniden, z. B. 103RuCl3, gelingt die Synthese von radioaktiven Metallocenen. Die radiochemische Ausbeute bei der Reaktion mit 103RuCl3 oder 59FeCl3 beträgt 5-70%, mit 191OsCl4 knapp 1%. Die radioaktiven Metallocene lassen sich durch DC leicht von radioaktiven Nebenprodukten trennen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary Organic natural products whose constitution is still unknown can be tritium-labeled by exchange, or biosynthesis with HTO, 14CO2 or other labeled precursors, transformed in μg-scale, and the derivatives obtained can be qualitatively detected by means of their radiation. Reaction with a reagent labeled with another isotope leads to double labeled derivatives. The molecular weight of the natural product or its equivalent can be computed from the quotient of both activities (e. g. 3H, 14C) utilizing 1 μg or below. Similar applications are given by the appearance of unknown metabolites after treatment with labeled pharmaceuticals. For the purpose of increasing the output in separating substances of unknown constitution, gained from biological raw material, these can be profitably employed as tracers after having been labeled.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung In ihrer Konstitution noch unbekannte organische Naturstoffe können durch Austausch mit Tritium oder durch Biosynthese, z. B mit HTO, 14CO2 oder anderen markierten Vorläufern, markiert, im Mikrogramm- Maßstab umgesetzt und die erhaltenen Derivate an Hand ihrer Strahlung qualitativ nachgewiesen werden. Die Umsetzung mit einem Reagens, das ebenfalls, jedoch mit einem anderen Isotop, markiert wurde, führt zu doppelt markierten Derivaten. Aus dem Quotienten der beiden Aktivitäten (z.B. 3H, 14C) läßt sich das Molekulargewicht des Naturstoffes oder dessen Äquivalent bei Verwendung von 1 μg oder weniger errechnen. Ähnliche Anwendungen ergeben sich beim Auftreten unbekannter Metabolite nach Gabe markierter Pharmaka. Auch zur Ausbeutesteigerung beim Abtrennen in der Konstitution unbekannter Substanzen aus biologischem Rohmaterial können diese nach ihrer Markierung vorteilhaft als Tracer eingesetzt werden.
