Notes: Abstract The spectroscopic factor is considered for two-nucleon transfer reactions involving the excitation of quadrupole one-phonon states. Special attention is payed to the number of particles conservation condition in the dynamically distorted average potential of the deforming nucleus. It is required that the mean square of the time-derivtive of the particle number operator is zero in the collective phonon state. The condition is satisfied by a specially chosen residual interaction terms.

Notes: Abstract Energy shell corrections are derived for the nucleus238U by means of the new shell correction technique developed for finite depth single-particle potentials and exploiting only the bound states. The results are compared with those obtained by the traditional method.

Notes: Abstract It is shown that a difference exists between the mean values of the total single-particle energies obtained by averaging over the nucleon numberN and over the phase-space distributions (the energy-averaging) due to the symmetry of the single-particle Hamiltonian. This difference could lead to significant corrections in fitting the nuclear masses involving the droplet model.

Notes: Abstract It is shown that the nucleon-state structure in the cold, strongly deformed nucleus formed when two nuclei collide may be responsible for anomalies such as those observed in recent experiments.

Notes: Abstract An analysis of the classical closed orbits in the infinitely deep elongated ellipsoidal well is given with respect to their relevance to the gross-shell structure of the single-particle spectra in deformed nuclei. It is shown that the deformed-shape gross-shells responsible for the ground state deformations, as well as those responsible for the fission intermediate states, find a reasonable explanation in terms of the semiclassical three-dimensional quantization involving the planar orbits in the axis-of-symmetry plane and the simplest three-dimensional orbits which appear at large distortions. The former are found important for the ground state shapes. The results are also compared with the harmonic oscillator model.

Notes: Abstract Using the statistical model, an estimate is obtained for the critical angular momentum when the rotational band ofγ-rays ends up in reactions with heavy ions. A model of classical non-quantized rotation is proposed for angular momenta exceeding the critical value. Estimates for the intensity ofγ-radiation and the descend time along the yrast-line proceeding the quantal rotation are given.

Notes: Abstract The angle distribution for fission fragments is considered at high excitation levels; in this case the angular momentum is distributed over a large number of nucleons and statistical theory can be applied to the nucleus. The distribution of states of the “transition” nucleus over values of the quantity K. the projection of the moment of the compound nucleus along the fission axis, is computed. The most probable state is found to be that with K = 0, which, in the case of neutron-induced fission leads to the appearance of maxima in the fragment angle distribution at 0 ° and 180 °. The results are compared with experiment; the moment of inertia of the “transition” nucleus with respect to the symmetry axis is determined (fission direction). The fragment angle distribution for fission induced by charged particles and γ-rays is also analyzed.

Notes: Abstract In heavy nuclei where the thickness of the diffused edge is relatively small, a certain sharp effective surface can be defined which characterizes the shape of the nucleus, and it can be considered as a collective dynamic variable. It is shown that the problem of fluid dynamics can be simplified by reducing it to simple linearized equations for the dynamics in the nuclear interior and boundary conditions set at the effective dynamic sharp surface of the density distribution. These conditions are derived from the fluid dynamical equations. Transitional densities obtained from this simple model are compared with the numerical solution of fluid dynamical equations.

Notes: Abstract Density distribution across the nuclear surface is obtained in the approximation of relatively sharp nuclear edge. It is used to determine dynamical parts of the density relevant to density vibration resonances. Results of the simple calculations are in close agreement with detailed microscopic theories.
