Notes: Abstract It is shown that a difference exists between the mean values of the total single-particle energies obtained by averaging over the nucleon numberN and over the phase-space distributions (the energy-averaging) due to the symmetry of the single-particle Hamiltonian. This difference could lead to significant corrections in fitting the nuclear masses involving the droplet model.

Notes: Abstract It is shown that the presence of relatively small irregular components in the particle elastic scattering amplitudes may play a determining role in the scattering at the backward angles. The general features of the calculated angular distributions agree with the trends of the experimental data. A new explanation of the so-called backward-angle resonances is suggested. The fluctuating features of the scattering amplitudes are animated by means of the random number generator of the desk calculatorTexas-Instruments-59 used in the computations.

Notes: Abstract It is shown that the nucleon-state structure in the cold, strongly deformed nucleus formed when two nuclei collide may be responsible for anomalies such as those observed in recent experiments.

Notes: Abstract In heavy nuclei where the thickness of the diffused edge is relatively small, a certain sharp effective surface can be defined which characterizes the shape of the nucleus, and it can be considered as a collective dynamic variable. It is shown that the problem of fluid dynamics can be simplified by reducing it to simple linearized equations for the dynamics in the nuclear interior and boundary conditions set at the effective dynamic sharp surface of the density distribution. These conditions are derived from the fluid dynamical equations. Transitional densities obtained from this simple model are compared with the numerical solution of fluid dynamical equations.

Notes: Abstract The spectroscopic factor is considered for two-nucleon transfer reactions involving the excitation of quadrupole one-phonon states. Special attention is payed to the number of particles conservation condition in the dynamically distorted average potential of the deforming nucleus. It is required that the mean square of the time-derivtive of the particle number operator is zero in the collective phonon state. The condition is satisfied by a specially chosen residual interaction terms.

Notes: Abstract Equations of a combined, liquid plus particle model are derived which accounts consistently for the short-range liquid properties of nuclei as well as for the long-range quasi-particle behavior. Macroscopic quantities are defined as statistical averages and their dynamics is determined by an Euler-type equation, which contains a term due to the interaction with the gas component, and also by the continuity equation. For the quasi-particle component the full quantal treatment is kept in the form of the Liouville equation with a time-dependent external potential related to the bulk density. It may include the residual quasi-particle interaction. It is suggested that the solution of the coupled dynamics is facilitated by the explicit use of an effective sharp nuclear surface as a dynamical variable.

Notes: Abstract Collective quantities are defined as macroscopic statistical averages over many level crossing points where microscopic densities are redistributed. Accordingly, the generator coordinate method (GCM) is reconsidered. It is concluded that, contrary to earlier arguments, the macroscopically defined inertia parameter which appears in the GCM Hamiltonian has a finite value close to that obtained using traditional theories assuming the existence of the adiabatic BCS ground state.

Notes: Abstract The cranking model calculation is analysed in the case of large amplitudes of collective motion and a finite velocity where the quantum perturbation theory is inapplicable. An analytic solution is carried out in the approximation of frequent crossings of the single-particle levels in the BCS-theory.
