    Notes: Die schrittweise Chlorierung des Cyclohexandions-(1.2) in wäßriger Lösung verläuft über isolierbare Hydrate; die bei deren Entwässerung entstehenden Enole sind weiterchlorierbar. Das 3.3-Dichlor-cyclohexandion-(1.2)-hydrat-(2) lagert sich, den Beobachtungen in der 5-Ring-Reihe entsprechend, in die Enolform des 3.6-Dichlor-cyclohexandions-(1.2) um. Ein Teil der Verbindungen erleidet überraschend leicht Benzilsäure-Umlagerung.

    Notes: Die Isolierung des im Titel genannten Sterins (1) aus Kürbis wird beschrieben und die Konfiguration der Äthylidengruppe aus dem NMR-Spektrum abgeleitet. Die Synthese von 1 gelingt ausgehend von 3β-Acetoxy-22.23-dinor-Δ7-5α-cholenaldehyd (4) über das Abbauketon 2 durch Wittig-Reaktion mit hoher Selektivität.

    Description / Table of Contents: Hydroxyalkylation of N.N-Dialkylcarboxamides with EpoxidesThe hydroxyalkylation of α-carbanions from N.N-dialkylcarboxamides with epoxides is demonstrated with eleven examples (1, 5, 12, 16, 18, 21, 25, 28, 32, 37, 41). Satisfactory yields are obtained with ethylene oxide and with mono- or unsymmetrically disubstituted oxiranes. Some γ-hydroxy amides were reduced with lithium aluminium hydride and the products subjected to Cope degradation.
    Notes: An elf Beispielen (1, 5, 12, 16, 18, 21, 25, 28, 32, 37, 41) wird die Hydroxyalkylierung von α-Carbanionen aus Carbonsäure-dialkylamiden mit Epoxiden in flüssigem Ammoniak beschrieben. Befriedigende Ausbeuten werden mit Äthylenoxid sowie mit mono- oder unsymmetrisch disubstituierten Oxiranen erhalten. Einige γ-Hydroxy-amide wurden mit Lithiumalanat reduziert und die Produkte nach Cope abgebaut.

The Reaction of Dimedone with HydrazonesIn the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid dimedone reacts with araliphatic or aromatic hydrazones to form enehydrazones such as 4, 6, 8, and 10, which can be hydrogenated to the enehydrazines 12, 13, and 15. Under mild acid catalysis dimedone reacts with hydrazones (including aliphatic ones) to yield tetrahydroindazolinones 16 to 19, and 22 via hexahydroindazolinones such as 25 to 28.
    Notes: Dimedon bildet bei Gegenwart von p-Toluolsulfonsäure mit araliphatischen oder aromatischen Hydrazonen Enhydrazone wie 4, 6, 8 und 10, die zu den Enhydrazinen 12, 13 und 15 hydriert werden können. Bei milder Säurekatalyse entstehen aus Dimedon und (auch aliphatischen) Hydrazonen über die Stufe der Hexahydro-indazolinone-(4) wie 25-28 die Tetrahydro-indazolinone 16-19 und 22.

The cyclization of 13f to lactone 19a is a structure proff. Starting from benzaldehyde hydrazones, 2-pyrazoline-4,5-dicarboxylic esters are the main products.
    Notes: Durch Umsetzung von Acetylendicarbonsäure- dimethylester mit Hydrazinen oder Alkyl-hydrazonen erhält man die 1-Alkyl-3-hydroxy-5-pyrazolcarbonsäure-methylester 9 und 13a-e, durch Verseifung und Decarboxylierung hieraus die 1-Alkyl-3-hydroxypyrazole 11 und 15a-e. Die Cyclisierung von 13f zum Lacton 19a ist strukturbeweisend. Bei Verwendung von Benzaldehyd-hydrazonen entstehen hauptsächlich 2-Pyrazolin-4,5- dicarbonsäureester.

Eine effektive Darstellung der Ausgangsverbindungen wird angegeben, und die Daten der Produkte werden mit den aus Naturstoffen gewonnenen verglichen.

    Description / Table of Contents: β-Sitosterol and Clionasterol from (24R)- and (24S)-24-Ethylcholesta-5,22,25-trien-3β-ol, RespectivelyStarting from the pure epimeric 24-ethylcholesta-5,22,25-trien-3bT-olen (24R)-1 a and (24S)-1 a, stigmasterol ((24S)-2) and β-sitosterol ((24S)-3) or poriferasterol ((24R)-2) and clionasterol ((24S)-3), respectively, are prepared by hydrogenation of the corresponding 6β-acetoxy-3α,5α-cyclosterols 4 and subsequent ring opening. A route to specifically tritiated β-sitosterol and clionasterol is also described.
    Notes: Ausgehend von den reinen epimeren 24-Äthylcholesta-5,22,25-trien-3bT-olen (24R)-1 a bzw. (24S)-1 a werden durch Hydrierung der 6β-Acetoxy-3α,5α-cyclosterine 4 und anschließende Ringöffnung Stigmasterin ((24S)-2) und β-Sitosterin ((24R)-3) bzw. Poriferasterin ((24R)-2) und Clionasterin ((24S)-3) dargestellt. Ein Weg zur Gewinnung spezifisch tritiierten β-Sitosterins und Clionasterins wird beschrieben.

    Description / Table of Contents: Some Reactions of Hydroxy-N,N-dimethylcarboxamides3-Hydroxy-N,N-dimethyl-1-carboxamides (2, 7) are converted into the corresponding γ-butyrolactones (3, 8) by treatment with an acidic ion-exchange resin in acetone or by thermolysis. 2-Hydroxy-N,N-dimethyl-1-carboxamides (10, 12, 14, 16b, 18) on the contrary form the corresponding carbonyl compounds (9, 11, 13, 15b, 17).
    Notes: 4-Hydroxycarbonsäure-dimethylamide (2, 7) lassen sich durch Behandlung mit saurem Ionenaustauscher in Aceton oder durch Thermolyse in die entsprechenden γ-Butyrolactone(3,8) überführen. 3-Hydroxycarbonsäure-dimethylamide (10, 12, 14, 16b, 18) bilden hingegen beim Erwärmen die entsprechenden Carbonylverbindungen (9, 11, 13, 15b, 17) zurück.

Semmler-Wolff rearrangements are not observed. The oxime tosylates 3a, b, and 8 or Schmidt reactions of the octahydro-4H-carbazol-4-ones 1a, b and 6 give migrations of the aromatic group to the lactams 5a, b, and 10. The derivatives of the tetrahydro-4H-carbazol-4-one 11 give the corresponding products.
    Notes: Die Octahydro-4H-carbazol-4-on-oxime 2a, b und 7 geben mit Polyphosphorsäure Beckmann-Umlagerung unter Alkylwanderung zu den Lactamen 4a, b und 9 Semmler-Wolff-Umlagerung wird nicht beobachtet. Aus den Oximtosylaten 3a, b und 8 oder durch Schmidt-Reaktion mit den Octahydro-4H-carbazol-4-onen 1a, b und 6 erhält man unter Aromatenwanderung die Lactame 5a, b und 10. Die Derivate des Tetrahydro-4H-carbazol-4-ons 11 verhalten sich analog.
