Notes: Die Assoziation der 1.2.4-, 1.3.4-, 1.3.5- und 1.4.5-Xylenole, von Thymol und den Tetralolen wird auf kryoskopischem Wege und durch die Orientierungspolarisation sowie an der Temperaturabhängigkeit der Oberflächenspannung verfolgt. Alkyl in Nachbarschaft zum Hydroxyl setzt diese herab und erniedrigt gleichzeitig die Orientierungspolarisation unter den Wert des Phenols. Das aus der Polarisation berechnete Dipolmoment erscheint über einen weiten Konzentrationsbereich fast unabhängig von der Konzentration. Außerdem werden noch Messungen am p-Methyl-benzylalkohol, α-Naphtyl-carbinol, ar-α-Tetralol und Fluorenol mitgeteilt.

Notes: Mit Hilfe der spektrophotometrischen Analyse konnte der Beweis erbracht werden, daß die Glyceride zahlreicher Naturfette konjugiert-ungesättigte Fettsäuren enthalten. In den Samenfetten von Pflanzen, die einen hohen Wasserbedarf haben, wurden größere Mengen 2-,3- und 4-fach konjugiert-ungesättigter Fettsäuren nachgewiesen, so z.B. in verschiedenen Irisarten und in Nymphea alba. Der Gehalt tierischer Fette an diesen Säuren ist meist gering. Ihr Nachweis sowie ihre Vergesellschaftung mit Essigsäure in den Balsaminaceen-Fetten gestattet Rückschlüsse auf die Beziehungen zwischen Kohlenhydrat-und Fettstoffwechsel.Die Umwandlung von Kohlenhydraten in Fette verläuft über die Phosphatide, wie Versuche mit Lycasits ranauensis zeigten.

Notes: Durch Kondensation von Diacetyl mit Furfurol, Zimtaldehyd und dessen Vinylogen in Gegenwart von Piperidinacetat wurden ungesättigte Polyen-diketone dargestellt. Bei den niederen Gliedern entstanden die beiderseitig substituierten Derivate, beim 7-Phenyl-heptatrienal das Gemisch des einseitig substituierten Methyl-diketons mit dem symmetrischen Substitutionsprodukt, beim 11-undecapentaenal nur das einseitig substituierte Derivat. Die Ergebnisse werden denen von P. Karrer, Ch. Cochand und N. Neuß gegenübergestellt; Piperidin-Ion ist als Katalysator wirksamer als Piperidin.

Notes: Es werden die Bedingungen der Umsetzung zwischen Cystin und Kaliumcyanid, die zu Cystein und α-Amino-β-rhodan-propionsäure führt, näher untersucht. Auch das Cystein läßt sich dabei präparativ abtrennen. Mit Wasserstoffperoxyd als Oxydationsmittel, das das primär entstandene Cystein oxydiert, gelingt es bei dieser Umsetzung das Cystin quantitativ in die α-Amino-β-rhodan-propionsäure umzuwandeln. Die Rhodangruppe läßt sich in der α-Amino-β-rhodan-propionsäure durch Behandlung mit Säuren oder nascierendem Wasserstoff nicht durch die SH-Gruppe ersetzen. Mit Alkalien gelingt die Hydrolyse zum Thiol, jedoch reagiert das Cystein dabei sofort weiter mit der gleichzeitig entstehenden Cyansäure unter Bildung einer Ureidosäure, die als Cystein-bzw. Cystinhydantoin festgelegt wird.

Notes: Mit Hilfe der Dicyansynthese konnte eine Reihe von Polyoxybenzilen hergestellt werden. Bei einer Anzahl von Phenolen gelang es auf diesem Weg nicht, die entsprechenden Benzile zu erhalten. Auch aus den Naphtholen konnten durch Kondensation mit Dicyan keine Naphthile synthetisiert werden; es bildeten sich vielmehr Lactone der Oxynaphthyl-glyoxylsäuren.Als 1.2-Diketone lassen sich die Benzile an der tropfenden Quecksilberelektrode nach Heyrovsky reduzieren und ergeben charakteristische Strom-Spannungskurven. Keines der dargestellten Oxybenzile oder ihrer Derivate übertrifft in der bakteriostatischen Wirksamkeit das Bromsalicil.

Notes: Die Frage, warum die Geschwindigkeit der Spaltung des Cinchonins in Cinchotoxin in saurer Lösung nicht mit der Dissoziationskonstanten der angewandten Säuren steigt sondern fällt, wird beantwortet. Es wird die Geschwindigkeit in salzsaurer und in essigsaurer Lösung erst mit wachsenden Mengen der Säuren und dann bei gleichem Gehalt an Säure mit wachsenden Mengen des Natriumsalzes der Säure gemessen. Außerdem werden andere, einfacher gebaute 1.2-Hydramine auf ihre Spaltbarkeit in essigsaurer Lösung geprüft. Der Mechanismus wird aufgeklärt und die früher aufgestellte Gesetzmäßigkeit abgegrenzt und ergänzt. Danach betrifft jetzt die Gesetzmäßigkeit die Salze von 1.2-Hydraminen, die in ihrem Kation ein ionisierbares Wasserstoffatom neben ihrer Hydroxylgruppe enthalten, in wäßriger Lösung bei Anwesenheit von freier Säure. Sie besagt, daß die Geschwindigkeit nicht nur eine Funktion der Dissoziationskonstante der angewandten Säure, sondern bei starken Säuren auch eine Funktion der Konzentration der Wasserstoff-Ionen und bei schwachen auch eine Funktion der Konzentration der Säure-Anionen ist.Die Anschauungen von C. H. Biddle über die Geschwindigkeit der Umwandlung des Cinchonins werden besprochen.

Notes: Die Darstellungsmöglichkeiten von Chalkonen werden auf ihre Brauchbarkeit geprüft und eine größere Anzahl substituierter Chalkone erstmalig beschrieben. Die Reaktionsfähigkeit der Ausgangsmaterialien wird diskutiert und auf die in manchen Fällen leicht eintretende Umwandlung von Chalkonen zu Flavanonen hingewiesen.Mit Hilfe der polarographischen Bestimmung konnte eine eindeutige Unterscheidung zwischen Chalkonen und Flavanonen erreicht und der Nachweis beider Verbindungsformen nebeneinander ermöglicht werden. Ferner wurde die Bildungsgeschwindigkeit eines Chalkons polarographisch untersucht.

Notes: Es wurde gefunden, daß die kautschukführenden Wurzeln von Taraxacum Kok-saghyz Rod. tyrosinasefreisind, während der mit Koksaghyz nahe verwandte kautschukfreie Löwenzahn (Taraxacum officinale) Tyrosinase enthält. Um festzustellen, welche Beziehung zwischen Kautschuk und Tyrosinase besteht, wurden Hybriden aus beiden Rassen herangezogen, für deren Untersuchung ein colorimetrisches Verfahren angegeben wird, das auch sehr geringe Gehalte von Tyrosinase mit genügender Genauigkeit zu ermitteln gestattet.Das Verfahren beruht auf einer kurzzeitigen Verfolgung der Bildung des roten Farbstoffs aus Tyrosin durch Messung der Lichtabsorption mit dem Photozellencolorimeter nach R. Havemann, während der die in Skalenteilen des Geräts über der Zeit aufgetragenen Reaktionskurven einen geradlinigen Verlauf zeigen. Der Neigungswinkel der Geraden gegen die Abszisse bzw. seine Tangente ist in einem genügend großen Meßbereich der Fermentkonzentration annähernd proportional und kann als relatives Maß für die Aktivität der Fermentpräparate gelten. Eine durch Titration der Reaktionslösungen ermittelte Bezugskurve zwischen dem tg-Wert und dem Tyrosinase-Umsatz nach 2 Stunden führt zu der scheinbaren Wirkungseinheit des Ferments, als die der Umsatz von 1 mg Tyrosin gewählt wird, Woraus sich als absoluter Tyrosinasewirkungswert die Zahl der Wirkungseinheiten/1 g Wurzeltrockensubstanz ergibt.Aus dem Vergleich der Tyrosinasewirkungswerte mit den Kautschukgehalten der Hybriden ergibt sich, daß eine Beziehung zwischen Tyrosinasegehalt und Kautschukgehalt in den Wurzeln nicht besteht. Dadurch ist die Annahme nahegelegt, daß Kautschuk-An-und Abwesenheit sowie Tyrosinase-An- und Abwesenheit für die beiden Stammarten je ein gegensätzliches Merkmalspaar darstellen, die - jeweils das eine unabhängig vom anderen - zur Bildung von dihybriden Kreuzungen führen.

Notes: Für die Isolierung gameten-wirksamer Stoffe haben sich gewisse Mutanten von Chlamydomonas als besonders geeignet erwiesen. Die Nomenklatur der Gene und die genetischen Formeln der präparativ aufgearbeiteten Klone werden kurz erläutert. Als kopulationsverhindernder Wirkstoff, den die kopulationsunfähigen ru+-Zellen (Mutante Nr. 1) ausscheiden, wurde Quercetin-3-rutinosid (Rutin) isoliert. Eine Vorstufe dieses Flavonolglykosids, die von ru○-Zellen (Mutante Nr.2) gebildet wird, hat sich als Quercetin erwiesen. Als Gynotermon der irha+-Zellen (Mutante Nr.3) gelang es Quercetin-3′-methyläther (Isorhamnetin) krystallisiert zu gewinnen. Der Geißelwuchsstoff, den sowohl ♂ wie ♀ Gameten der cro+-Rassen (Mutanten Nr.5 und 6) produzieren, konnte durch Umesterung in krystallisierten trans-Crocetindimethylester (0.5% des Trockengewichts der Gameten) vom Schmp. und Misch-Schmp. 215° verwandelt werden.

Notes: Arbeiten mit tritylsubstituierten Harnstoffen, die mit anderer Zielrichtung unternommen wurden, gaben Veranlassung zur Herstellung tritylsubstituierter Carbodiimide. Ditritylcarbodiimid und Monotritylcarbodiimid (Tritylcyanamid) wurden nach mehreren Verfahren gewonnen, insbesondere aus Cyanamid und Tritylchlorid, wodurch erstmals ein Carbodiimid aus Cyanamid zugänglich wurde. Während es gelang, einige Alkyl-und Aryltritylcarbodiimide herzustellen, konnte ein Acyltritylcarbodiimid nicht gewonnen werden. Ditritylcarbodiimid gibt in träger Reaktion in Benzol mit Eisessig lediglich den Übergang in Ditritylharnstoff, während die sonstigen Anlagerungsreaktionen von Carbodiimiden nicht eintreten; es zeigt in seinem Verhalten Ähnlichkeit mit Hexaphenylbutin. Ein Ersatz einer Trityl-Gruppe durch einen anderen Rest (Allyl, Benzyl, Phenyl) führt zu einer Erhöhung der Anlagerungsgeschwindigkeit. Durch Darstellung von Phenyltritylcyanamid bzw. Phenyltritylcarbodiimid und Benzyltritylcyanamid bzw. Benzyltritylcarbodiimid konnten 2 Isomerenpaare der Carbodiimid- bzw. Cyanamidreihe gewonnen werden.

Notes: Fär die Synthese von natürlichen Steroiden ist die richtige sterische Verknüpfung der Ringe ausschlaggebend. Nachdem in vorangehenden Mitteilungen Wege zur Gewinnung der als Zwischenstufen wichtigen Isomeren beschrieben worden waren, ergab sich nunmehr, daß bei Ringschluß der als Modellsubstanz dienenden 3-β-Naphthyl-cyclopentanon-(1)-yl-essigsäure-(2) mittels wasserfreier Flußsäure zum 3′.4-Diketo-1.2.3.4-tetrahydro-1.2-cyclopenteno-phenanthren eine Isomerisierung eintritt und aus der cis- bzw. trans-Form der Säure das gleiche Keton entsteht. Möglicherweise kann die Isomerisierung durch geeignete Substitution vermieden werden.Der für eine geplante Equilenin-Synthese wichtige Anbau des Essigsäure-Restes an ein substituiertes Cyclopentanon, das 3-β-Naphthyl-2-methyl-cyclopentanon-(1) konnte entgegen den Ergebnissen anderer Autoren durch Malonester-Synthese unter besonderen Vorsichtsmaßregeln erreicht werden. Auf diesem Wege war dann durch Ringschluß die Darstellung eines tetracyclischen Diketons, des 3′.4-Diketo-1.2.3.4-tetrahydro-2-methyl-1.2-cyclopenteno-phenanthrens, möglich.

Notes: Die Hydrolyse β-, γ- und δ-halogenierter Äther und Thioäther wird untersucht und festgestellt, daß im Gegensatz zu den α-substituierten Verbindungen, bei denen die Sauerstoff-Derivate um Größenordnungen schneller als die Sulfide hydrolysiert werden, bei den β-substituierten die Sulfide 1000 bis 10000 mal reaktionsfähiger sind. Bei den γ-halogenierten Verbindungen werden Äther und Thioäther mit gleicher Geschwindigkeit hydrolysiert, während das δ-Chlor-butyl-phenyl-sulfid wieder etwa 20 mal schneller reagiert als die entsprechende Sauerstoffverbindung.

Notes: Bei der Einwirkung von Sauerstoff auf 5-Allyl-pyrogallol- 1.3-dimethyläther in Gegenwart eines Ferments aus Champignons entsteht ein Dehydrierungsprodukt der ungefähren Zusammensetzung (C22H24O7)x. Etwa die Hälfte der Phenolgruppen des Ausgangsmaterials sind im Dehydrierungsprodukt infolge Verätherung verschwunden. Nach der Methylierung liefert es beim oxydativen Abbau Trimethylgallussäure, 3.4.5-Trimethoxy-phthalsäure und 2.6-Dimethoxy-4-carboxy-phenoxyessigsäure. Die sich aus diesen Abbauprodukten ergebenden Strukturmöglichkeiten werden erörtert und mit der Struktur des Lignins verglichen.

Notes: Es wurde das Raman-Spektrum von verflüssigtem Äthyl- und n-Propyl-fluorid aufgenommen. Bei der Äthylverbindung wurden aus den Grundschwingungen die Bindekräfte berechnet. Durch Vergleich mit den entsprechenden Werten der übrigen Äthylhalogenide und -pseudohalogenide konnte gezeigt werden, daß alle Bindungen des Kohlenstoffatoms, an dem das Fluoratom sitzt, gelockert werden.
