Notes: Das System Vanadin - Sauerstoff wurde zwischen VO2 und V2O5 einer erneuten Prüfung unterzogen. Mit Hilfe von Pulver- und Einkrystallaufnahmen wurde ein Oxyd der Zusammensetzung V02,17 aufgefunden. Seine Krystallstruktur wurde durch ausschliessliche Verwendung von Fouriermethoden vollständig bestimmt. Die Elementarzelle ist monoklin und hat die Dimensionen a = 11,90Å, b = 3,67Å c = 10,12Å und,β = 100°52′. Der Zellinhalt entspricht der Formel V12O26. Die Raumgruppe ist C32h—C 2/m. Jedes Vanadinatom ist oktaedrisch von Sauerstoff umgeben. Die einzelnen Oktaeder sind teils durch gemeinsame Ecken, teils durch gemeinsame Kanten verknüpft.

Le gaz anodique ne renfermait pas d'autres corps que l'oxygéne et l'ozone.

Notes: Es wurden Ultrarotspektren von 12 Substanzen der α, β- und γ-Iron sowie Jonon-Reihen aufgenommen und es wurde versucht, mit Hilfe derselben eine Aussage über die Lage der Doppelbindungen in diesen Verbindungen zu machen. Wjr sind dabei zu der Feststellung gekommen, dass die Lage der den Doppelbindungen zukommenden Frequenzen so stark von anderen, direkt benachbarten oder weiter entfernten Gruppen in der Molekel beeinflusst wird, dass zuverlässige Aussagen über die Lage dcr Doppelbindungen in der Jonon- und Tron-Rcihe nicht immer auf Grund von Gruppenfrcquenzen möglich sind, die an einfachen Verbindungen beobachtet wurden.

Notes: Die Konstitution von Enniatin B (C22H38O6N2), eines aus Fusariam Stamm ETH 4363 und Stamm ETH 1674 isolierten Antibiotikums, wurde aufgeklärt. Die same Hydrolyse liefert 2 Mol N-Methyl-( + )-valin (111) und 2 Mo1 D-α-Oxy-isovaleriansäure (11), wäihrend bei der alkalischen Hydrolyse das D-α-Oxy-isovaleryl-N-methyl-(+)-valin (IV) neben dem entsprechenden Lacton, 4-Methyl-3,6-diisopropyl-2,5-dioxo-morpholin (V), entsteht. Auf Grund dieser Befunde wird dem Enniatin B die Konstitution I einer cyclischen Verbindung mit 12 Ringgliedern erteilt.

Notes: Aus der Reihe des p-Phenanthrolins wurden N-Methyl-p-phenanthrolon, 2-Chlor-p-phenanthrolin, 2-Methoxy-p-phenanthrolin und 2-Methoxy-p-phenanthrolin-mono-jodmethylat hergestellt und letzteres katalytisch reduziert. Hierbei bildeten sich 2-Oxy-N1-methyl- 1,2,3, 4-tetrahydro-p-phenanthrolin-N1-jodmethylat, 2-Oxy-N1-methyl- l,2,3, 4-tetrahydro-p-phenanthrolin, sowie 2-Methoxy-N1-methyl- 172,3,4-tetrahydro-p-phenanthrolin.

Notes: Die Hydrolyse des aus Fusurium lycopersici isolierten Welkstoffes Lycomurusmin liefert je 1 Mol Ammoniak, Glycin, vollständig racemisierte Asparaginsäure und Brenztraubensäure. Andere Spaltstücke konnten nicht gefunden werden, insbesondere liess sich kein Serin nachweisen, das als Vorstufe der Brenztraubensäure in Frage kam. Das unter Ammoniak-Abspaltung entstehende Inaktivierungsprodukt des Welkstoffes (Substanz J) gibt analoge Hydrolysen-Resultate.

Notes: Es wurde eine neue Modifikation der Isoehinolinsynthese yon Pomeranz-Fritsch ausgearbeitet, bei welcher ein leicht zugängliches Amin mit Glyoxal-semiacetal zu einer Schiff'schen Base kondensiert und diese dann wie üblich in ein Isochinolinderivat übergeführt wird. Die neue Methode gibt bei einfachen Isochinolinderivaten gute Ausbeuten, jedoch misslang es, nach dieser Methode Pepaverin darzustellen.

Notes: Es wurde die Synthese der 3-Isopropyl-6-methylhomophtalsäure beschrieben. Diese Säure erhielt man durch einen oxydativen Abbau unter Ringaufspaltung mit Wasserstoffperoxyd aus dem 4-Methyl-7-isoprop-α-indanon-glyoxylester oder der entsprechenden Hydroxymethylenverbindung des 4-Methyl-7-isopropyl-α-indanons. Sie konnte durch Oxydation mit KMn4 z. T. in das bekannte 3-Isopropyl-6-methylphtalsäureanhydrid und z. T. in eine Säure der Bruttoformel C113H14O6 übergeführt werden.

Notes: Bei der Untersuchung von fünf verschiedenen Fusarienstämmen, die in vitro alle spezifisch gegen Mycobacterien antibiotisch wirksam waren, wurden in reiner Form zwei neuartige Antibiotika isoliert. Eine als En niatin A (C24H42O6N2) bezeichnete verbindung liess sich aus F. orthoceyas var. enniutinurn Stamm ETH 1523 und aus F. scirpi Lamb. et Fautr. Stamm ETH 1536 erhalten, wahrend die Fusarien Stamm ETH 4363 und ETH 1574 ein Enniatin B (C24H42O6N2)genanntes Antibiotikum lieferten. Die Isolierung dieser chemisch und physikalisch als einheitlich charakterisierten Stoffe wird eingehender beschrieben.

Notes: Unter Hinweis auf die Permanganatmethode von Pürth-Charnass und unter Hinweis auf das Destillationsverfahren von Lepper wurde, ausgehend von der von Deraigés beschriebenen Farbreaktion mit Guajakol, eine neue Methode zur kolorimetrischen Bestimmung der Milchsäure mit Hilfe des Stufenphotometers beschrieben. Die Spezifität der Farbreaktion mit Guajakol wurde einer besonderen Prüfung unterzogen. Die Körper, welche mit Guajakol ebenfalls eine mehr oder weniger ausgeprägte, die kolorimetrische Milchsäurebestimmung störende Farbreaktion geben, sind in einer Tabelle gruppenweise zusammengestellt (vgl. die Spalten 1 und 2).

Notes: Aus 2,6-Polymethylen-4-nitro-phenolen (I) wurde über die 2,6- Polymethylen-4-amino-phenole (II) die Reihe der ringhomologen 2,6-Polymethylen-benzochinone(III) (n = 10-19) hergestellt. Das 2,6-Hexamethylen-benzochinon (III n = 9) konnte aus 2,6-Hexamethylen- 4-nitro-phenol durch Einwirkung von Blei(IV)-acetat in Eisessig gewonnen werden.

Notes: La d, l-α-irone dont la phényl-4-semiearbazone F. 174,5-175,5°, et que j'ai produite synthétiquement dés 1944 aprés avoir reconnu en 1943 la structure tie l'α-irone d'iris, paraít posséder la structure trans (2,6) tandis que l'a-irone d'iris posséderait au moins pour la plus grande part la structure cis (2,6). L'une et l'autre livrent des préparations de β-irone que ne distingue que le pouvoir rotatoire.

Notes: L'a-amylase de salive humaine a été isolée et cristallisée. L'enrichissement rapporté à l'azote Kjeldahl est de 8,1 fois. Le rendement de la purification est de 50% en produit cristallisé, et de 32% en enzyme pur, deux fois recristallisé. Après trois recristallisations successives, les eaux-mères et les cristaux présentent le même degré de pureté. A l'é1ectrophorèse, l'enzyme cristallisé se comporte comme une substance homoène. II doit être considéré comme de l'α-amylase de salive humaine pure.

Notes: Es wurde das Verhalten von Sarkosin und den N-Monomethyl-Verbindungen von Valin, Leucin und Isoleucin im Papierchromatogramm nach Consden untersucht. Diese N-Methyl-α-aminosäuren lassen sich bei geeigneter Versuchsanordnung leicht trennen und neben α-Aminosäuren selektiv nachweisen. In Anwendung dieser Ergebnisse wurde eine rasche Methode zur Untersuchung von Enniatin-Präparaten entwickelt. Die Analyse der aktiven Fraktionen von 7 verschiedenen Fusarienstämmen zeigte, dass einige derselben neben Enniation A und B wahrscheinlich ein mit Enniatin A isomeres Enniatin C produzieren.

Notes: Die Assoziation der 1.2.4-, 1.3.4-, 1.3.5- und 1.4.5-Xylenole, von Thymol und den Tetralolen wird auf kryoskopischem Wege und durch die Orientierungspolarisation sowie an der Temperaturabhängigkeit der Oberflächenspannung verfolgt. Alkyl in Nachbarschaft zum Hydroxyl setzt diese herab und erniedrigt gleichzeitig die Orientierungspolarisation unter den Wert des Phenols. Das aus der Polarisation berechnete Dipolmoment erscheint über einen weiten Konzentrationsbereich fast unabhängig von der Konzentration. Außerdem werden noch Messungen am p-Methyl-benzylalkohol, α-Naphtyl-carbinol, ar-α-Tetralol und Fluorenol mitgeteilt.

Notes: Mit Hilfe der spektrophotometrischen Analyse konnte der Beweis erbracht werden, daß die Glyceride zahlreicher Naturfette konjugiert-ungesättigte Fettsäuren enthalten. In den Samenfetten von Pflanzen, die einen hohen Wasserbedarf haben, wurden größere Mengen 2-,3- und 4-fach konjugiert-ungesättigter Fettsäuren nachgewiesen, so z.B. in verschiedenen Irisarten und in Nymphea alba. Der Gehalt tierischer Fette an diesen Säuren ist meist gering. Ihr Nachweis sowie ihre Vergesellschaftung mit Essigsäure in den Balsaminaceen-Fetten gestattet Rückschlüsse auf die Beziehungen zwischen Kohlenhydrat-und Fettstoffwechsel.Die Umwandlung von Kohlenhydraten in Fette verläuft über die Phosphatide, wie Versuche mit Lycasits ranauensis zeigten.

Notes: Durch Kondensation von Diacetyl mit Furfurol, Zimtaldehyd und dessen Vinylogen in Gegenwart von Piperidinacetat wurden ungesättigte Polyen-diketone dargestellt. Bei den niederen Gliedern entstanden die beiderseitig substituierten Derivate, beim 7-Phenyl-heptatrienal das Gemisch des einseitig substituierten Methyl-diketons mit dem symmetrischen Substitutionsprodukt, beim 11-undecapentaenal nur das einseitig substituierte Derivat. Die Ergebnisse werden denen von P. Karrer, Ch. Cochand und N. Neuß gegenübergestellt; Piperidin-Ion ist als Katalysator wirksamer als Piperidin.

Notes: Es werden die Bedingungen der Umsetzung zwischen Cystin und Kaliumcyanid, die zu Cystein und α-Amino-β-rhodan-propionsäure führt, näher untersucht. Auch das Cystein läßt sich dabei präparativ abtrennen. Mit Wasserstoffperoxyd als Oxydationsmittel, das das primär entstandene Cystein oxydiert, gelingt es bei dieser Umsetzung das Cystin quantitativ in die α-Amino-β-rhodan-propionsäure umzuwandeln. Die Rhodangruppe läßt sich in der α-Amino-β-rhodan-propionsäure durch Behandlung mit Säuren oder nascierendem Wasserstoff nicht durch die SH-Gruppe ersetzen. Mit Alkalien gelingt die Hydrolyse zum Thiol, jedoch reagiert das Cystein dabei sofort weiter mit der gleichzeitig entstehenden Cyansäure unter Bildung einer Ureidosäure, die als Cystein-bzw. Cystinhydantoin festgelegt wird.

Notes: Mit Hilfe der Dicyansynthese konnte eine Reihe von Polyoxybenzilen hergestellt werden. Bei einer Anzahl von Phenolen gelang es auf diesem Weg nicht, die entsprechenden Benzile zu erhalten. Auch aus den Naphtholen konnten durch Kondensation mit Dicyan keine Naphthile synthetisiert werden; es bildeten sich vielmehr Lactone der Oxynaphthyl-glyoxylsäuren.Als 1.2-Diketone lassen sich die Benzile an der tropfenden Quecksilberelektrode nach Heyrovsky reduzieren und ergeben charakteristische Strom-Spannungskurven. Keines der dargestellten Oxybenzile oder ihrer Derivate übertrifft in der bakteriostatischen Wirksamkeit das Bromsalicil.

Notes: Als philodiene Komponente für Synthesen nach Diels-Alder wird erstmals β-Acetyl-acrylsäure benützt. Mit 2.3-Dimethyl- bzw. 1.4-Diphenyl-butadien entstehen in sehr guter Ausbeute 5.6-Dimethyl-3-acetyl-2-carboxy-bzw. 1.4-Diphenyl-3-acetyl-2-carboxy-1.2.3.4-tetrahydro-benzol. Außerdem wird die Addition von α-Methyl-β-äthyl-acrolein an 2.3-Dimethyl-butadien beschrieben.

Es wird die Isolierung von Triäthylammonium-silbercyanid beschrieben und der Umsatz von Silbercyanat und Silberjodid mit Kaliumcyanid diskutiert. Das Quecksilber(II)-cyanid kann sich mit Kaliumcyanid unter Bildung von Kaliumquecksilbertricyanid, K[Hg(CN)3] und Kaliumquecksilber-tetracyanid, K2[Hg(CN)4], umsetzen.

Notes: Die Frage, warum die Geschwindigkeit der Spaltung des Cinchonins in Cinchotoxin in saurer Lösung nicht mit der Dissoziationskonstanten der angewandten Säuren steigt sondern fällt, wird beantwortet. Es wird die Geschwindigkeit in salzsaurer und in essigsaurer Lösung erst mit wachsenden Mengen der Säuren und dann bei gleichem Gehalt an Säure mit wachsenden Mengen des Natriumsalzes der Säure gemessen. Außerdem werden andere, einfacher gebaute 1.2-Hydramine auf ihre Spaltbarkeit in essigsaurer Lösung geprüft. Der Mechanismus wird aufgeklärt und die früher aufgestellte Gesetzmäßigkeit abgegrenzt und ergänzt. Danach betrifft jetzt die Gesetzmäßigkeit die Salze von 1.2-Hydraminen, die in ihrem Kation ein ionisierbares Wasserstoffatom neben ihrer Hydroxylgruppe enthalten, in wäßriger Lösung bei Anwesenheit von freier Säure. Sie besagt, daß die Geschwindigkeit nicht nur eine Funktion der Dissoziationskonstante der angewandten Säure, sondern bei starken Säuren auch eine Funktion der Konzentration der Wasserstoff-Ionen und bei schwachen auch eine Funktion der Konzentration der Säure-Anionen ist.Die Anschauungen von C. H. Biddle über die Geschwindigkeit der Umwandlung des Cinchonins werden besprochen.
