Conjugation in Macrocyclic Bond Systems, XIII1). Further Compounds of the Hexa-m-phenylene TypeThe preparation of the sterically overcrowded hexamethyl hexa-m-phenylene 2 is reported. Spectroscopic properties (u. v., 1H-n.m.r.) and mass spectra of 2 are discussed with regard to the strong deviation from coplanarity present in this system. Synthesis and properties of 8,2′;8′,2″;8″,2-tris(dibenzothiophenylene) (10), a coplanar a coplanar derivative of 1, are reported.

Das sterisch stark behinderte Hexamethyl-hexa-m-phenylen 2 wird hergestellt. Die spektroskopischen Eigenschaften (UV, 1H-NMR) und das Massenspektrum von 2 werden unter dem Gesichtspunkt der hier vorliegenden starken Abweichung von der Komplanarität diskutiert. Über Synthese und Eigenschaften des 8.2′;8′.2″;8″.2-Tris-dibenzothiophenylens (10), eines ebenen Derivats von 1, wird berichtet.
