Summary A method for horizontal paper chromatographic separation and quantitative estimation of reduced glutathione (GSH) in blood and tissues is described. GSH is primarily stabilized by N-ethylmaleimide in the haemolysate or tissue homogenate to prevent oxidation during all further procedures. By the ninhydrin-cadmium dip-reagent GSH-concentrations to 0,2 µg can be exactly estimated.

Zusammenfassung Beschreibung eines Trennverfahrens mittels horizontaler Papierchromatographie für reduziertes Glutathion in Blut und Geweben und dessen quantitative Bestimmung. 1. Nach vorheriger Stabilisierung des GSH durch N-Äthylmaleinimid im Bluthämolysat oder Gewebshomogenat wird eine oxydative Veränderung zu GSSG während aller weiteren Aufarbeitungsvorgänge verhindert. 2. Die Empfindlichkeit der Ninhydrin-Cadmium-Reaktion gestattet es, GSH-Mengen bis 0,2 µg quantitativ-colorimetrisch zu erfassen. Der chromatographische GSH-Nachweis ist, auch auf Grund seiner Spezifität, allen bisherigen Bestimmungsverfahren überlegen.
