Notes: Abstract The nuclear structure of17Ne has been studied by the20Ne(3He,6He)17Ne reaction at 70 MeV. Fifteen levels were identified, and the angular distributions have been measured for 9 levels. The observed transferred angular momentum dependence of the angular distributions enabled clear spin-parity assignment. The extensive completion of T=3/2 quartet in mass A =17 have been obtained for the first time. The present data will provide a chance to study the structure of A=17 system in detail.

Notes: Abstract Thomson scattering from plasmas in high-pressure discharges for rare-gas-halide excimer-laser pumping was observed using a frequency-doubled 300 ps Nd: YAG laser. A temporal resolution of 1 ns was realized for the Thomson-scattering measurement, and detailed temporal changes of the electron density and temperature were measured in Kr/Ne and Kr/He plasmas. Calculations using a computer simulation showed good agreement with the experimental results, implying that the plasma dynamics is properly treated in the simulation.

Notes: Summary A long-term follow-up study covering between one and twenty-two years after surgery was carried out on 177 patients with direct operations for cerebral aneurysms. Rebleeding was detected in five out of 18 patients with incomplete operations; one patient within 6 months and four patients within 5 to 8 yeras after surgery. The rebleeding rate of incompletely operated patients in the first decade was similar to that of untreated patients with ruptured aneurysms. This suggests that wrapping, coating and incomplete clipping procedures provide some protection against rebleeding in the first 6 months but little in the period extending beyond 5 years after surgery. Showing two types of newly-formed aneurysms after complete surgery and enlarged residual aneurysms after incomplete surgery, the possibility of rebleeding from these aneurysms is discussed in the present report.

Notes: Abstract We present a 28-year-old pregnant woman who exhibited intolerance to lysinuric protein. However, she gave birth to a normal child without serious maternal complications. Since four of seven similar patients reported previously developed serious complications such as hemorrhage and eclampsia, patients with lysinuric protein intolerance are considered to be at high risk during pregnancy. A successful outcome can be achieved, provided that the anemia, thrombocytopenia, toxemia and hyperammonemia are well controlled.

Notes: Abstract Intermittent behaviour of fragment multiplicity distributions in the nuclear liquid-gas phase transition is studied in terms of the droplet model of Fisher. The anomalous fractal dimensions are compared with data on heavy ion reactions and classical molecular dynamics simulations. A signature of the transition in the anomalous fractal dimensions is shown.
