    Notes: The focal point of a laser beam inside a liquid-helium cryostat has been spatially stabilized. Both passive and active stabilization techniques are employed. The position of the focal point is maintained to submicrometer dimensions in the plane transverse to the beam path. The instabilities along the beam propagation direction are reduced to the order of 10 μm.

    Change of surface structure of thin silicon nitride layers during electron beam rapid thermal annealing (1994)

    Notes: The surface of 〈100〉 Si specimens implanted at room temperature (RT) with 15N+2 ions at 10 keV with fluences of 5×1016 at./cm2 was subsequently annealed by electron beam rapid thermal annealing (EB-RTA) at temperatures between 900 and 1150 °C forming SiNx layers 25–20 nm thick. The modification in surface structure of these layers by EB-RTA was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and nuclear reaction analysis (NRA). The 15N depth profile measurement [15N(p,αγ)12C] at target tilt angles from 30° to 7° indicates a shift of the low energy edge which represents the SiNx sample surface. This shift is attributed to the shadowing effect of the SiNx sample surface. Detailed AFM analysis shows that the surfaces are covered with irregularly distributed vertical structures, being whiskers of ∼16 nm height. These structures become more pronounced with increasing annealing temperatures.

    Notes: Abstract A method (laser raster microscopy with thermal excitation, LRMTE) for characterizing high-T c thin-film superconductors (HTSC) with microscopic resolution is described. By means of spatially resolved laser excitation and subsequent monitoring of the time dependence of the film resistivity at a base temperature near the transition temperature T c, spatial variations of the transition temperature (T c), of the temperature coefficient of the resistivity (dQ/dT), of the heat conductivity and heat capacity of the film and of the heat conductivity between film and substrate can be detected with high spatial resolution (15 μm have been achieved so far).

    Notes: Abstract Y1Ba2Cu3O7−δ thin films were deposited by KrF laser ablation while replacing conventional contact heating by cw CO2 laser irradiation of the substrate front surface. The HTSC films obtained on (100)ZrO2 showed T c(R=0)=90 K, ΔT(90–10%)=0.5 K, j c=2.5 × 106 A/cm2, a sharp transition in the ac susceptibility X(T), and pure c-axis orientation. Micrographs of thin films (〈 0.5 μm) showed a smooth morphology while thick films (〉1 μm) contained many crystallites sticking in the bulk material. Furthermore, in situ patterning was achieved during deposition by local laser heating of a selected substrate surface area. The resulting planar films contained amorphous, semiconducting parts only 1 mm or less apart from crystalline material showing the above HTSC quality.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Mit Ausnahme der nach Pneumonien und Infarkten auftretenden Lungenabscesse werden alle übrigen Lungeneiterungen entsprechend ihrer Ätiologie zusammengestellt und an Hand einiger Beispiele hinsichtlich der Klinik und Therapie besprochen. Es erscheint dies notwendig, da sich hinter dem meist einheitlichen Symptomenbild der subakuten bis chronischen Lungeneiterung recht unterschiedliche Krankheitsursachen verbergen. Diese Ursachen teilen sich im wesentlichen auf in Bronchusverschluß, sei es durch einen Tumor oder durch Fremdkörperaspiration, in angeborene Veränderungen des Lungenparenchyms und der Bronchien, in oesophago-pulmonale Fisteln und Pilzerkrankungen. Bei diesen Erkrankungen steht fast ausschließlich die operative Behandlung im Vordergrund. Die angeführten Beispiele sind einem Krankengut von 138 Fällen entnommen.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Die Erfahrungen an 4 klinischen Beobachtungen — 3 Aneurysmen und 1 perforierende Verletzung bei einer Ductus Botalli-Operation —zeigen, daß ein By-pass vom linken Vorhof zur A. femoralis unter Verwendung einer Pumpe eine relativ einfache Methode zur Kompensierung eines Verschlusses der descendierenden thorakalen Aorta darstellt. Da kein Oxygenator, sondern nur eine Pumpe benötigt wird, können die entsprechenden Schläuche, Katheter und Ansatzstücke steril aufbewahrt und zum sofortigen Gebrauch im Operationssaal bereitgehalten werden (Fall 4). Das extrakorporale System kann mit weniger als 500 cm3 Blut oder einer Blutersatzlösung gefüllt, die Möglichkeit einer Luftembolie praktisch ausgeschlossen werden. Das Einschalten eines Blutreservoirs in den extrakorporalen Kreislauf sowie die Möglichkeit, das heparinisierte Blut des Operationsfeldes direkt in das System zurückzusaugen, bieten einen ausgezeichneten Schutz gegen massive Blutungen, wie sie gerade bei ausgedehnten Aortenaneurysmaoperationen entstehen können (Fall 2).

    Notes: Zusammenfassung An 20 Hunden wurden die Folgen der instrumentellen Gallengangsrevision mikroskopisch untersucht. Hierbei zeigt sich, daß vorsichtige und sorgfältige Manipulationen keine nennenswerten Läsionen im Bereich des Choledochus und der Papille hervorrufen. Bei stärkerer mechanischer Schädigung (Schaben mit dem Gallensteinlöffel) kommt es zu ausgedehnten Epitheldefekten, erheblicher entzündlicher zündlicher und hämorrhagischer Überschwemmung. Das Bougieren der Papille führt zu den gleichen Veränderungen: Epitheldefekte, hämorrhagische und entzündliche Imbibition. Die stärksten Veränderungen werden beim Sprengen der Papille ausgelöst. Die Schäden sind teilweise so schwer, daß der normale Aufbau des Diverticulum duodeni nicht mehr erkennbar ist. Vereinzelte Befunde lassen es als möglich erscheinen, daß sich im Verlauf von 2–3 Wochen auch mittelschwere Schädigungen zurückbilden. Eine endgültige Stellungnahme hierzu ist wegen der geringen Zahl der untersuchten Fälle nicht möglich.
