Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Since 1965 we have performed 602 supraaortic reconstructions: 514 carotid endarterectomies, 5 truncus, 76 subclavian and 3 vertebral artery reconstructions. For correction of subclavian lesions we recommend the carotid-subclavian graft. Mortality in carotid endarterectomy was 1.6 %. In the follow-up of 3 months to 13 years 20.7 % of the patients died (9.8 % of cardiac disease and 4.4 % of stroke). The life-table showed a survival rate of 73.7 % after 5 years in patients with TIA's.
