Zusammenfassung In den Jahren 1956 bis 1968 wurden an unserer Klinik 388 Patienten wegen Oesophaguscarcinom stationär untersucht. 203 von ihnen (52,3%) konnten nur konservativ bzw. mit einer Witzelfistel oder einem CelestinTubus versorgt werden. Bei 78 (20,1%) mußte der Eingriff als Probatoria abgeschlossen werden, 107 (27,6%) wurden reseziert. Die primäre Mortalität betrug 11,2%, die Fünfjahresheilungen 14,7%. Indikation, operative Technik, Problematik der Lymphadenektomie, postoperative Nachsorge und Komplikationen werden besprochen.

Summary From 1956 to 1968 we have examined in our clinic 388 in-patients suffering from carcinoma of the esophagus. In 203 cases (52.3%) only conservative medical care respectively placing of a Witzel-fistula or a Celestin tube was possible. In 78 cases (20.1 %) the surgical intervention had to be terminated as a test. In 107 patients (27,6%) a resection was carried out. Primary mortality amounted to 11.2%, curative effect for a period of 5 years to 14.7%. Indication, technique of operation, the problematic nature of lymphadenectomy, postoperative treatment and complications are discussed.
