Conclusions 1. A method was developed for synthesizing diferrocenoyl and trans-1,2-diferrocenylethylene by the oxidation of 1,2-diferrocenylethane with manganese dioxide. 2. Only one C =O group in diferrocenoyl reacts with, hydroxylamine, 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine, and n-propyl magnesium bromide. Diferrocenoyl does not undergo a benzil-type rearrangement. 3. 1,2-Diferrocenylethanediol-1,2 was produced by the reduction of diferrocenoyl.
