    Gender and Employee Attitudes: The Role of Organizational Justice Perceptions (2004)

    Notes: In this study, using path analysis, we tested whether procedural justice perceptions mediated the relationship between gender and distributive justice perceptions. Furthermore, we also tested whether the two forms of commitment (affective and normative) mediated the relationships between justice perceptions (distributive and procedural) and tenure intent. One hundred and eighty-three employees from Irish manufacturing organizations participated in the study. As hypothesized, we found support for the mediating role of procedural justice perception on the relationship between gender and distributive justice perception. Results also indicated that affective commitment mediated the relationships between justice perceptions and tenure intent and affective commitment. Finally, normative commitment did not mediate the relationships between justice perceptions and tenure intent. Further analysis using moderated regression analysis showed that gender moderated the relationships between distributive justice perceptions and affective commitment only. Gender did not have any moderating effect on normative commitment or tenure intent. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

    Notes: Abstract Methods for the preparation and analysis of a new renal radiopharmaceutical,99mTc-thiodiglycolic acid (TDGA), are reported. The kit for Tc-TDGA contains a lypophilized acidic (pH 2.5) mixture of 5 mg TDGA and 0.05 mg SnCl2·2H2O. Acetate buffer has been found to be a suitable solvent for paper chromatography of99mTc-TDGA. The results of the quantitative organ distribution studies in rats and rabbits indicated the characteristics of99mTc-TDGA to be intermediate to the renal tubular agent131I-Hippuran and the GFR agent99mTc-DTPA.

    Notes: Abstract [99Tc(III) (acac)3] was synthesized by published procedure, but recovered by extraction into CH2Cl2. The product was purified by preparative HPLC over a reversed phase column, RP18, using a mobile phase of 1∶1 CH3OH∶H2O. The cationic complex [99Tc(IV) (acac)3]+ prepared by the oxidation of the purified neutral Tc(III) complex was unstable in methanol/methanol-water medium, being reduced back to the Tc(III) complex.

    Notes: Abstract Consequent to the promising results reported with 99mTc(V)-DMSA for imaging certain types of soft tissue tumors, we have developed methods to prepare this radiopharmaceutical in three ways:-(i) from freshly prepared reagents, (ii) through the use of a two component kit and (iii) use of the standard renal DMSA kit by a modified recipe. The 99mTc(V)-DMSA complex has been subjected to paper electrophoretic and chromatographic procedures and also biodistribution studies. The distinctly different behaviour of this new product compared to that of the well known renal DMSA complex has been clearly established. Scintiimaging in a preliminary clinical trial in patients with medullary carcinoma of the thyroid has been encouraging.

    Notes: Abstract 99mTc(V)-DMSA kits developed by the Radiopharmaceutical Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, have been evaluated for potential use in scanning medullary carcinoma of the thyroid and its metastases. There were 15 patients with proved medullary carcinoma and 6 patients with other differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Amongst the 15 patients with medullary carcinoma, 12(80%) showed positive localisation either in the primary or one or more metastatic sites. None of the six patients with carcinoma other than medullary showed increased concentration of 99mTc (V)-DMSA. Of the 37 known metastatic sites in 15 patients with medullary carcinoma, 24 showed concentration of 99mTc (V)-DMSA (64.9%). In addition, 99mTc(V)-DMSA concentration was seen in 14 sites where no evidence of metastasis was revealed. The incidence of 99mTc (V)-DMSA concentration in soft tissue and bone metastasis was similar.

    Notes: Abstract We have studied the feasibility of producing57Co (271.3 d) via the55Mn(α, 2n)57Co reaction (55Mn−100%). The thick target yield of57Co in the 28 to 18 MeV energy region was measured as 3.87 μCi/μAh. However, the proximity and overlap of the excitation functions for (α, n), (α, 2n) and (α, 3n) reactions on55Mn are such that the production of pure57Co in high yields free of58Co (70.8 d) and56Co (78.8 d) has not been feasible. We have also studied a new method for ancillary production of57Co via the reactions58Ni(α, αp)57Co and $$^{58} Ni(\alpha ,\alpha n)^{57} Ni\xrightarrow{{36{\mathbf{ }}h}}^{57} Co$$ during the course of producing62Zn by60Ni(α, 2n)62Zn reaction. In this case the yield of57Co of reasonable purity has been up to 1 μCi/μAh.

    Notes: Abstract Ethylene dicysteine (EC) and ethyl cysteinate dimer (ECD) complexes of67Ga and111In were prepared and the complexation yield and radiochemical purity estimated by paper chromatography, paper electrophoresis and solvent extraction into chloroform.111In-EC was found to be anionic, whereas111In-ECD was neutral. EC complexes of67Ga and111In were stable upto 6 hours and expectedly less lipophilic than ECD complexes. ECD complexes of67Ga and111In were unstable in aqueous medium, but highly stable in chloroform. The utility of the work for stabilisation of products as organic extract and the possible role and limitation for the development of new68Ga radiopharmaceuticals and of bifunctional chelating agent (BCA) for111In are discussed.

    Notes: Abstract Relatively longer liver technetium tracers such as95mTc (61 d) are useful for the development, evaluation and comparison of new technetium complexes for eventual development of99mTc radiopharmaceuticals. The feasibility of producing96Tc (4.35 d) and95mTc (61 d) was studied by the alpha bombardment of pure Nb targets (93Nb-100%).96Tc was obtained in a yield of 30 μCi/μAh using 16 MeV alphas, but it contained significant activity of95Tc (20 h) Relatively pure96Tc and95mTc was produced in yields of 18 μCi/μAh and about 1 μCi/μAh respectively with alphas of suitable energy and after allowing for suitable cooling periods after the end of bombardment (EOB).
