Abstract:
Notes:
Summary Experiments on guinea pigs were undertaken to influence the course of eczematous sensitization by surgical sympathectomy with and without severing of the sciatic and femoral nerves, as well as by vagotomy. No significant changes in the experimental eczematous sensitization could be observed. It was then tried to get an insight into the neurovegetative regulation of patients with atopic diseases and eczema as well as in controls by simultaneous registration of the central and peripheral neurocirculatory values in man. p It was shown that atopic patients and those with persistent eczema were the whole day in a vagotonic (trophotropic) neurovegetative condition, whereas controls and patients with quickly healing eczema showed during the same period a normo- or sympathicotonic status. It was possible to transform, by administration of central and peripheral effective parasympathicolytica, a vagotonic curve into a sympathicotonic one, as revealed by the simultaneously measured circulatory values. Likewise, sympathicotonic curves could be changed into vagotonic ones by parasympathicomimetic pharmaceuticals. Exposition of allergic patients to specific allergens produced clearly registrable peripheral spasms of the vessels and altered the neurocirculatory condition towards augmented vagotonia.
