    Notes: The precipitation behavior in the Ti–27at.%Nb–6at.%Ta–6at.%Zr alloy aged at 643 K was examined by means of time-of-flight neutron small-angle scattering. When the alloy was aged, fine-scale α precipitates appeared. During the precipitation process, each precipitate grew in size, but the total number of precipitates remained nearly constant up to 1 Ms of ageing. The increase of critical superconducting current density could be connected with increasing size of α precipitates. The specimen for the measurements consisted of a composite containing 3721 filaments in a copper matrix. The use of neutrons was shown to give great advantages for the investigation of precipitation phenomena.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die Kleinwinkelstreuung der Neutronen von A1-6.8 at % Zn und Al-6.8 at % Zn- 0.1 at % Mg-Legierungen während der Guinier-Preston-Zonen-Bildung wurde am KUR (Kyoto Universität Reaktor) gemessen. Die Proben wurden aus 300 °C in Salzwasser von — 20 °C abgeschreckt und bei 77 K gehalten. Sie wurden bei 40 °C während der verschiedenen Zeitdauer von 0 bis 1000 Minuten mit der nachfolgenden Neutronenmessung bei 77 K gealtert. Die gemessene zeitliche Entwicklung des Streuquerschnittes kann qualitativ erklärt werden in übereinstimmung mit Saitos Formel, die aus zwei verschiedenen Teilen besteht, die der inkohärenten anomalen Schwankung und der kohärenten geordneten Struktur der Konzentration entsprechen.
    Notes: Summary Small-angle neutron scattering from A1-6.8 at % Zn and Al-6.8 at % Zn-0.1 at % Mg alloys during Guinier-Preston zone formation have been measured at KUR (Kyoto University Reactor). The samples were quenched from 300 °C into brine at -20 °C and kept at 77 K. They were aged at 40 °C for various periods ranging from 0 up to 1000 minutes each with subsequent neutron measurement at 77 K. The observed temporal evolution of the cross section can be interpreted qualitatively in terms of Saito's formula which consists of two distinct parts due to the incoherent anomalous fluctuation and to the coherent ordered structure of the concentration.

    Notes: Abstract The change in structure of several amorphous alloys as Fe-P-C, Fe-B and Pd-Au-Si alloys during isothermal ageing was examined using small angle X-ray scattering technique as well as transmission electron microscopy. The SAXS intensity was related to two different types of scattering sources depending on ageing period and temperature. As-splatted amorphous alloys and the specimens aged for short period at relatively low temperature, where specimens remained in amorphous state, showed a weak and spreaded SAXS intensity. This indicates an existence of electron density fluctuation in amorphous phase. The dimension of their scattering regions was estimated to be 1.8 to 2.4 nm for Fe-P-C alloys, and 1.2 to 0.8 rim. for Fe-B alloys, respectively, by analysing the electron density-density correlation function derived from observed SAXS intensity. The origin has been discussed based on one dimensional model. A compositional fluctuation was made clear to occur in fine scale of about 1 nm in amorphous Fe-B and Fe-P-C alloys. When the alloys were aged for longer period below their crystallization temperatures, fine crystalline particles precipitate; those are a two phase lamella structure of Fe3P andα-Fe for a Fe83P10C7 alloy, an Ferich single phase for Fe83B17 alloy, and a Pd-rich single phase for Pd76Au6Si188 alloy, respectively. Their size and structure were determined from the analysis of SAXS data and TEM observation.

Исходя из изменений интенсивности ИК поглощения, было установлено, что алкоксиды являются реактивными адсорбированными частицами, а карбоксилат—нереактивными, а также были рассчитаны константы скорости поверхностных реакций.
    Notes: Abstract IR spectra of adsorbed alcohols on alumina were measured under the reaction conditions at elevated temperatures. The transient response of IR absorption intensity indicates that alkoxides are reactive adsorbed species but carboxylates are not. The rate constants of surface reactions were calculated from the transient response.

    Notes: Abstract By using PSRA (Pulse Surface Reaction Rate Analysis) coupled with EDR (Emissionless Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Spectrometer), it was found that the lower shift of C−O stretching vibration of absorbed CO — caused by the addition of alkali carbonate to Ru/Al2O3 — leads to a decrease in the rate constant for the C−O dond dissociation process of adsorbed CO in methanation.

    Notes: Abstract The structure of an Fe83B17 amorphous alloy was examined in detail, mainly by means of small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements. The electron density-density correlation derived from the observed intensity had the following characteristic features: a strong correlation concentrated in the short radial distances within about 1.2 nm and a rather weak correlation towards larger distances. After quantitative analysis, it was concluded that a compositional fluctuation occurs on a fine scale of about 1 nm in the amorphous Fe-B alloys, even though phase separation is not present as completely as in the structure model proposed by Boudreaux. Electrical resistivity measurements as well as transmission electron microscope (TEM) observations were performed to investigate the crystallization process. By using the theoretical equation of electrical resistivity reported by Landauer, the temperature dependence for the partially aged amorphous alloys was analysed. The volume fraction of crystalline phase estimated from the present analysis was in good agreement with the results obtained from TEM observation.
