Process Patents or Patents on Products in Chemical InventionsAccording to the patent laws in force in Germany at the present time, only the manufacturing process can be patented in the case of chemical inventions, whereas in the United States, Great Britain, France, etc., a patent can be obtained on the actual material produced by chemical means, without reference to a special method of manufacture. The reasons for and against a change in the law, i. e. the introduction of the absolute protection of products such as in chemical products, foodstuffs and medicines, are discussed.

Für chemische Erfindungen ist in Deutschland nach dem geltenden Patentgesetz nur der Schutz auf das Herstellungsverfahren zulässig, während in USA, England, Frankreich usw. auch der auf chemischem Wege hergestellte Stoff an sich, unabhängig von einem bestimmten Herstellungsverfahren, geschützt wird. Die Gründe, die für und gegen eine Gesetzesänderung in Deutschland, d. h. die Einführung des absoluten Stoffschutzes für chemische Erzeugnisse, Nahrungs- und Arzeimittel sprechen, werden erörtert.
