Notes: L'hydrogénation de la β-ionone, en solution alcoolique, au contact du nickel de Raney, à 20° et à la pression atmosphérique donne, lorsqu'on limite l'absorption d'hydrogène à une molécule, un mélange de dihydro-β-ionone et de cis-dihydro-ionone. Celle-ci est le stéréoisomère de la dihydro-ionone préparée par Prelog et Frick par la condensation du trans-dihydro-cyclo-citral et de l'acétone. Lorsqu'on poursuit l'hydrogénation, on obtient aisément un mélange de dihydro-β-ionone et de cis-tétrahydro-ionone. L'étude de l'hydrogénation de la β-irone donne des résultats analogues, qui feront l'objet d'une prochaine communication.

Notes: Der Übergang einer in Lösung befindlichen Fadenmolekel von der statistischen Gestalt eines losen Knäuels durch Kondensation in sich selbst zu einem fast lösungsmittelfreien Tröpfchen kann als eine chemische Reaktion von sehr hoher Ordnung betrachtet werden, ähnlich der Bildung von Flüssigkeitstropfen durch Zusammenlagerung vieler Einzelmolekeln aus einem übersättigten Dampfe. Es ist daher zu erwarten, dass der Übergang vom losen Knäuel zum kondensierten Tropfen in einem engen Intervall der Temperatur oder der Zusammensetzung des Lösungsmittels erfolgt.

Notes: Es wird eine neue Modifikation der Oxydation nach Oppenauer beschrieben. Das Verfahren beruht auf einem zuerst von Ponndorf und später von Davies und Hodgson angegebenen Prinzip und gestattet die Darstellung von Aldehyden aus primären Alkoholen. Durch geeignete Abänderung der von diesen Autoren angegebenen Arbeitsweise gelangt man zu einer präparativ brauchbaren Methode, die besonders in der alicyclischen Reihe gute Resultate liefert.

Notes: Die Einwirkung von Lithiumaluminiumhydrid auf Toluolsulfonsäureester verschiedener Alkohole und des Phenols wurde untersucht. Dabei zeigte sich, dass solche Ester auf zwei verschiedene Arten reduziert werden können: entweder wird der -OSO2C6H4CH3-Rest durch H ersetzt oder der Tosylester wird reduktiv zum Alkohol aufgespalten. Nach dem ersten Reaktionstypus reagierten die Tosylester des l-Menthols, der Diaceton-D-galactose〈1,5〉 und des Cholesterins, nach dem zweiten Typus die Tosylester der Diaceton-D-glucose 〈1,4〉, β-Diaceton-D-fructose〈2,6〉 und des Phenols. Aus l-Menthol-tosylester entstand p-Menthan, aus 6-Toluolsulfo-diaceton-D-galactose D-Fucose und aus Cholesterin-tosylat Cholesten und i-Cholesten.

Notes: Der Dampfdruck von DDT zwischen t = 40 bis t = 90° C wurde nach einer Strömungsmethode gemessen. Dabei zeigte sich, dass die Sättigung des Dampfes relativ schwer zu erreichen ist, indem die Verdampfungsgeschwindigkeit etwa 107-mal kleiner ist als zu erwarten wäre auf Grund des Sättigungsdruckes und der Annahme, dass im Gleichgewicht die Anzahl der pro cm2 und pro Sekunde verdampfenden Molekeln gleich der in derselben Zeit auf die Oberfläche gaskinetisch auftreffenden Molekeln sei. Es ist also der Akkomodationskoeffizient von DDT ungefähr gleich 10-7. Er hängt von der Temperatur nur wenig ab.

Notes: Von den N,N′-Tetraessigsäuren der drei Diaminocyclohexane wurden die Aciditätskonstanten sowie die Bildungskonstanten der Ca- und Mg-Komplexe ermittelt.1. Die Aciditätskonstanten zeigen keine grossen Unterschiede gegenüber denjenigen der entsprechenden Tetraessigsäuren der offenkettigen Polymethylendiamine. Auffallend sind einzig die grossen Werte für PK2 und PK4 der 1,2-Verbindung, die darauf hinweisen, dass die vier Carboxylgruppen sich hier räumlich besonders nahe sind und sich eine Wasserstoffbrücke zwischen den beiden Stickstoffatomen ausbilden kann.

Notes: En tenant compte de l'effet Donnan, il est possible de titrer des acides insolubles. La théorie développée montre qu'un excès d'un électrolyte fort pendant ce titrage est essentiel. L'analyse des courbes de titrage obtenues avec les celluloses purifiées, natives et régénérées de leurs solutions cupro-ammoniacales, permet de calculer des «constantes de dissociation» formellement analogues aux constantes d'acides monobasiques, mais beaucoup plus faibles que les constantes d'hydroxyacides. On en déduit que les celluloses pures ne portent pas de groupes COOH; le caractère acide de cette substance est dû à l'accumulation des groupes OH.

Notes: Es wurde auf einige Zusammenhänge zwischen chemischer Konstitution und tuberkulostatischer Wirkung bei verschiedenen bereits in der Literatur beschriebenen homologen Reihen von Verbindungen hingewiesen und in der Gruppe der heterocyclischen Alkoxy-amino-Derivate auf ein neues Beispiel solcher Beziehungen aufmerksam gemacht. Die von uns hergestellten und von H. Hurni in der Wissenschaftlichen Forschungsabteilung der Dr. A. Wander AG., Bern, auf ihre tuberkulostatische Wirkung in vitro geprüften 2-Alkoxy-4-aminochinolin-hydrochloride zeigten die gleichen Zusammenhänge zwischen Konstitution und Wirkung, indem wiederum ein Wirkungsmaximum beim 2-n-Butoxy-Derivat festzustellen war.

Notes: Durch siedende Bariumhydroxydlösung werden aus Pikrotoxinin 0,5 Mol. Aceton und knapp 0,3 Mol. Kohlendioxyd abgespalten. α-Dihydro-pikrotoxinin liefert bei gleicher Behandlung kein Aceton und nur 0,1 Mol. Kohlendioxyd. Als saure Reaktionsprodukte wurden neben wenig α-Pikrotoxininsäure Δ1,2-2-Methyl-3-oxo-cyclopenten-1-carbonsäure und die entsprechende 5-Oxyverbindung nachgewiesen.

Notes: Es wird der Einfluss hoher Konzentrationen Asparaginsäure auf die chemische Alaninbestimmung untersucht und festgestellt, dass in einfacher Mischung von Alanin und Asparaginsäure letztere eine Erhöhung der Alaninwerte zur Folge hat. Der Fehler lässt sich aber leicht bei gleichzeitiger Bestimmung der Asparaginsäure rechnerisch ausschalten. Die Asparaginsäure in Eiweisshydrolysaten in üblicher Konzentration (bis zu ca. der doppelten Menge des Alaningehaltes) stört die Bestimmung nicht.

Notes: Die Acetylierung der 4-Carbäthoxy-2-Pyrrolone mit Acetanhydrid und Schwefelsäure oder Pyridin führt je nach den Bedingungen zu verschiedenen Mono- und/oder Di-acetylderivaten. Es sind Anzeichen dafür vorhanden, dass in allen Fällen zunächst substituierte 2-Acetoxy-pyrrole entstehen. Bei längerer Einwirkungsdauer kann Wanderung der Acetylgruppe in die Stellungen 3 order 5 des Kernes erfolgen, falls diese frei sind. Teilweise gehen die so gebildeten Acetylpyrrolone durch weitere Acetylierung in 2-Acetoxy-acetylpyrrole über. Bei den Kernacetylierungen wird auf die Analogie zur Fries'schen Verschiebung aufmerksam gemacht.

Notes: L'huile essentielle de fruit de Myroxylon Pereirae Klotzsch. renferme un sesquiterpène lévogyre bicyclique donnant par l'action du gaz chlorhydrique du dichlorhydrate lévogyre de cadinène et par hydrogénation un hydrocarbure paraissant être le trans-tétrahydrocadinène. Ce sesquiterpène est accompagné d'un isomère très aisément polymérisé ou oxydé et d'une petite proportion d'un mélange d'alcools sesquiterpéniques. La polymérisation et l'oxydation aisées de l'huile essentielle paraissent être les origines d'une fraction du baume blanc du Pérou, drogue à usage thérapeutique depuis longtemps décrite et utilisée.

Die mittleren Gradienten liegen zwischen 300 und 1200. Selbst sehr verdünnte Lösungen zeigen eine sehr starke Abhängigkeit der Viskosität vom Gradienten. Der steile Abfall in den Viskositätskurven und der Anstieg der Orientierungswinkelkurven bei der Strömungsdoppelbrechung fallen in denselben Gradientenbereich.

Erst das erste in der Natur gefundene Carotinoid-epoxyd mit cis-Konfiguration.
