Notes: Summary Light increases the plating efficiency of single cells isolated from green callus cultures of Nicotiana tabacum var. “Samsun” and plated in densities of less than 100 cells ml-1 by more than 100%. At optimal light intensities plating efficiences between 80 and 90% were achieved with green cells, whereas the growth of isolated cells from chlorophyll free callus cultures was inhibited by light. Plated at low densities the isolated tobacco cells require the addition of kinetin and glutamine to a modified Murashige-Skoog-Medium for growth. The addition of these two substances is not necessary in the case of callus cultures or at higher plating densities (i.e. 500 or more cells ml-1). The requirement of kinetin for the growth of isolated cells can be met by the addition of small amounts of conditioned media from suspension cultures to the modified M+S-medium supplemented with glutamine, which demonstrates the production and release of a highly active cytokinine by the cells.

Notes: Abstract. Discrete-time low-gain control strategies are presented for tracking constant reference signals for infinite-dimensional, discrete-time, power-stable, linear systems subject to input nonlinearities. Both non-adaptive (but time-varying) and adaptive controls are considered. The discrete-time results are applied in the development of sampled-data integral control for infinite-dimensional, continuous-time, exponentially stable, regular, linear systems with input nonlinearities.

Description / Table of Contents: Rubbers as well as their vulcanizates on the basis of poly(cis-butenylene) (BR, “Buna CB 11”), poly(2-methyl-cis-butenylene) (natural rubber “SMR-5”, NR; synthetic natural, “Natsyn 2200”, IR), poly(2-chlorobutenylene) (CR, “Baypren 210; Baypren 710”), poly(butadiene-co-styrene) (SBR, “Buna Hüls 1502”) and poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile) (NBR, “Perbunan N 2807”) were investigated with pyrolysis field ion mass spectrometry (Py-FIMS). The thermal decomposition was studied as a function of pyrolysis temperature (773 K to 1173 K). Possible fragmentation mechanisms were developed from the composition of the primary chain fragments and parts of copolymers were identified.Vulcanization accelerators of different chemical nature (guanidines, thioureas, thiurames, dithiocarbamates, thiazols, and sulfenamides) were pyrolyzed at 563 K and 873 K within the vacuum of the high temperature inlet system of a mass spectrometer equipped with a combined electron impact/field ionization ion source. The decomposition behaviour of two accelerators (tetraethylthiuramdisulfide and benzothiazyl-2-cyclohexylsulfenamide) was discussed and possible decomposition patterns were described. In addition to the accelerators, standard vulcanizates on the basis of rubber, carbon black (“Corax A, N 555”), sulfur and benzothiazyl-2-cyclohexylsulfenamide (“Vulkacit CZ”, CBS), each in the mass ratio of 100:40:2:0.6, were investigated. The Py-FIMS of these vulcanizates exhibited typical fragments of the vulcanization accelerator as well as reaction products of sulfur with the rubber.
