    Notes: Background The blocking action of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) on cholinergically innervated sweat glands has been used successfully to treat patients with focal hyperhidrosis. Objectives To investigate the long-term efficacy and safety of intradermal injections of BTX-A. Methods We performed an open-label study in 61 patients treated over a period of 3 years for axillary or palmar hyperhidrosis. A total dose of 400 mU BTX-A (Dysport®) was injected into both axillae or 460 mU BTX-A (Dysport®) into both palms. The injections were repeated after relapse. Objective quantification of sweat production was performed using digitized ninhydrin-stained sheets. Results Four weeks after BTX-A treatment the median reduction in sweat production was 71% compared with baseline (P 〈 0·001) in the axillary group and 42% (P = 0·005) in the palmar group. Subjective assessment of sweat production by the patients using a visual analogue scale (0, no sweating; 100, the most severe sweating) showed a significant reduction in both the axillary (P 〈 0·001) and palmar groups (P 〈 0·001). Secondary disturbances due to focal hyperhidrosis interfering with daily activities were markedly improved in both groups. The median time interval between the sets of injections was 34 weeks for axillary hyperhidrosis and 25 weeks for palmar hyperhidrosis. The treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis was complicated by transient but not disabling weakness of the small hand muscles in nine of 21 patients. Conclusions Repeated intradermal injections of BTX-A in patients with axillary and palmar hyperhidrosis are as effective as first treatments.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Mittels Röntgenbeugung und thermischer Analyse (simultane TG-DTG-DTA und quasi-isotherme-quasi-isobare TG) konnte gezeigt werden, daß das molare Verhältnis Einlagerungsmedium/Kaolinit in allen Einlagerungsverbindungen etwa 1 ist. In gesättigter Atmosphäre des jeweiligen Einlagerungsmediums ist die Einlagerungsverbindung stabil bis über 150 °C. Die Zersetzung der Kaliumacetat-Einlagerungsverbindung läuft zusammen mit der Dehydroxylation des Kaolinits bei einer extrapolierten onset-Temperatur von 360 °C ab. Die Hochtemperaturreaktionen (Dehydroxylation, Phasenneubildung) von Kaolinit, der aus der Zersetzung von Einlagerungsverbindungen mit flüchtigen Einlagerungsmedien erhalten würde, werden von den Zersetzungsbedingungen beeinflußt.
    Abstract: Резюме Комбинацией рентген о-диффракционного анализа и термическо го анализа (совмещенный метод ДТ А, ТГ, ДТГ и квазиизобар ной и квазиизотермическо й ТГ) показано, что во всех интеркаляцио нных соединениях као лина молярное соотношени е интеркалирующий агент-каолин составл яет приблизительно 1. В атмосфере, насыщенной соответс твующим интеркалирующим аге нтом, интеркаляционн ые соединения устойчив ы до температуры выше 150°. Разложение интерка ляционного соединен ия ацетат калия — каолин протек ает одноврем** енно с дегидроксилир ованием каолина с нач альной температурой 360°, найде нной экстрапол** яцией. Высокая темпер атура реакций дегидроксилировани я и превращения каоли на, полученного разложе нием его интеркаляци онных соединений, зависит о т условий процесса разложения.
    Notes: Abstract Through a combination of X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis (simultaneous TG-DTG-DTA and quasi-isothermal TG), it was shown that the molar ratio intercalation agent/kaolinite in all intercalation compounds is approximately 1. In a saturated atmosphere of the corresponding intercalation agent, the intercalation compounds are stable up to more than 150 °C. Decomposition of the potassium acetate intercalation compound proceeds simultaneously with the dehydroxylation of kaolinite at an extrapolated onset temperature of 360 °C. The high-temperature reactions (dehydroxylation and transformation) of kaolinite obtained through the decomposition of intercalation compounds with volatile intercalation agents depend on the conditions applied during decomposition.

    Description / Table of Contents: 27Al MAS NMR Studies on the Thermolysis of the Hexaaqua Aluminium Chloride [Al(H2O)6]Cl3Products of the thermolysis of the hexaaqua aluminium chloride [Al(H2O)6]Cl3 were prepared by keeping the dried educt for one hour under dried air flow at the selected temperature. Already after a pretreatment at 160°C, in addition to the signal of Aloct structural units, a new signal at 32 ppm is observed in the 27Al MAS NMR spectrum. After a small shift to 35 ppm this signal distinctly appears from 400°C up to 750°C, partially even dominating beside the signals of Aloct and Altet structural units. The samples calcined at 800 and 1000°C provide the known two-peak spectrum of γ-Al2O3. The chemical shifts of all of these peaks show characteristical values for the temperature ranges 〈 350°C, 400-750°C and 750-1000°C.After contact with water the samples primarily showing a three-peak spectrum give only rise to the Aloct peak. The sharp peak at 35 ppm which was already observed in the spectra of other strongly disordered aluminium-oxygen compounds as, e.g., metakaolinite, is assigned to relatively weak-distorted AlO5 units of trigonal bipyramidal structure.
    Notes: Thermolyseprodukte des Hexaaquaaluminium-chlorids, [Al(H2O)6]Cl3, wurden hergestellt, indem Proben des trockenen Eduktes jeweils eine Stunde im getrockneten Luftstrom bei den angegebenen Temperaturen gehalten wurden. Bereits nach einer Vorbehandlung bei 160°C ist im 27Al-MAS-NMR-Spektrum neben dem Signal der Alokt-Baugruppen ein neues Signal bei 32 ppm zu beobachten. Es ist, nach einer leichten Verschiebung auf etwa 35 ppm ab 400°C, bis 750°C eindeutig, z. T. dominierend, neben den Signalen der Alokt- und Altet-Baugruppen wahrzunehmen. Die auf 800 und 1000°C erhitzten Proben geben das bekannte 2-Peak-Spektrum des zunehmen. γ-Al2O3. Die chemischen Verschiebungen aller drei Signale nehmen für die Temperaturintervalle 〈 350°C; 400-750°C und 750-1000°C charakteristische Werte an. Proben mit dem 3-Peak-Spektrum zeigen nach Kontakt mit Wasser fast nur noch den Alokt-Peak. Das scharfe Signal bei 35 ppm, das bereits in anderen hoch-fehlgeordneten oxidischen Aluminium-Verbindungen, wie z. B. Metakaolinit, beobachtet wurde, wird auf relativ gering verzerrte AlO5-Baugruppen trigonal-bipyramidaler Struktur zurückgeführt.
