Summary The clinical findings of 14 patients with myelocytic leukemia (paramyeloblasts, promyelocytes) are demonstrated. The following investigations were performed on the leukemic cells: light and electron microscopic cytology and cytochemistry, cytogenetic. The morphological and cytochemical findings are determined by the following factors: degree of differentiation of the leukemic cell; participation of erythrocyte-and thrombocyte-precursors in the malignant proliferation; morphological findings depending on the influence of malignancy or degeneration. The electron microscopic-cytochemical investigations demonstrate the synthesis, or “packing up” of acid phosphatase and peroxydase by participation of perinuclear space, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi-field and azurophilic granules.

Zusammenfassung Die klinischen Befunde von 14 Patienten mit unreifzelliger myeloischer Leukämie werden in knapper Form mitgeteilt. An den leukämischen Zellen (Myeloblasten, Promyelozyten) wurden folgende Untersuchungen durchgeführt: Licht-und elektronenmikroskopische Zytologie und Zytochemie, Zytogenetik. Morphologische und zytochemische Befunde werden durch folgende Faktoren bestimmt: Differenzierungsgrad der leukämischen Zelle; Mitbeteiligung anderer Zellreihen; maligne (und speziell leukämische) Entartung; degenerative Veränderungen der Zellen. Die elektronenmikroskopisch-zytochemischen Untersuchungen belegen die Bildung von saurer Phosphatase und Peroxydase unter Mitwirkung von perinukleärem Spalt, Ergastoplasma und Golgi-Apparat und schließlich die Lokalisation dieser Enzyme in den azurophilen Granula.
