Notes:
Summary From 1 October 1977 to 31 December 1983, 269 reconstructive operations on the deep femoral artery were done, 26 of them as a femoroprofundal bypass, i.e., a bypass from the common femoral artery to the distal A. profunda femoris. Twenty-four patients had occlusive disease stage III or IV with imminent amputation, 2 had stage II with poor risk, and 16 had had one or more previous operations in the groin. There was improvement in the occlusive disease in 53.9% and no change in 26.9%; two amputations of the upper and one of the lower limb had do be performed. Two patients died postoperatively. The femoroprofundal bypass is a limb-saving procedure in peripheral arterial occlusive disease.
