    Description / Table of Contents: Summary 5 different antibody specificities can be differentiated in heterologous antilymphocytic antiserum of the rabbit: 1 anti-erythrocyte/leukocyte/thrombocyte/liver/kidney antibody. 2 anti-leukocyte/thrombocyte/liver/kidney antibody. 3 anti-leukocyte antibody. 4 anti-erythrocyte antibody. 5 anti-serumprotein antibody. Anti-erythrocyte and anti-leukocyte antibodies were found in the 19 S and 7 S globulin fraction, whereas antibodies directed against an antigen common to erythrocytes and leukocytes could only be demonstrated in the 7 S fraction. The practical implications of this latter type of antibody were discussed. No blood group specificity was demonstrated. The crossreactivity of anti mousecell antibodies with blood cells of the rat did not include all the antibodies in the antiserum.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Im heterologen Anti-Mäuse- bzw.-Rattenlymphocytenserum von Kaninchen ließen sich die folgenden Antikörpertypen differenzieren: 1 Anti-Erythrocyten/Leukocyten/Thrombocyten/Leber/Nierenantikörper. 2 Anti-Leukocyten/Thrombocyten/Leber/Nierenantikörper. 3 Anti-Leukocytenantikörper. 4 Anti-Erythrocytenantikörper. 5 Anti-Serumproteinantikörper. Während anti-erythrocytäre und anti-leukocytäre Antikörper sowohl in der 7 S als auch in der 19 S Fraktion auftraten, wurden Antikörper, die gegen ein den Erythrocyten und Leukocyten gemeinsames Antigen gerichtet sind, nur in der 7 S-Fraktion nachgewiesen. Die Bedeutung des letzteren Antikörpertyps, insbesondere für die Absorption der Erythrocytenagglutine wird diskutiert. Neben dem Fehlen der Gruppenspezifität wird gezeigt, daß die Kreuzreaktion mit Rattenblutzellen auf einen Teil der Antikörper beschränkt ist.

Anti-Erythrocyten/Leukocyten/Thrombocyten/Leber/Nieren-Antikörper; 2. Anti-Leukocyten /Thrombocyten/Leber/Nieren-Antikörper; 3. Antileukocytenantikörper; 4. Antierythrocytenantikörper; 5. Antiserumproteinantikörper. Während antierythrocytäre und antileukocytäre Antikörper sowohl in der 7 S als auch in der 19 S-Globulin-Fraktion auftraten, wurden Antikörper, die gegen ein den Erythrocyten und Leukocyten gemeinsames Antigen gerichtet sind, nur in der 7 S-Fraktion nachgewiesen. Die Bedeutung des letzteren Antikörpertyps, insbesondere für die Absorption der Erythrocytenagglutinine, wird diskutiert. Die gegen Granulocyten gerichtete Aktivität sogenannter antilymphocytärer Antikörper wird durch Komplementbindungsteste, Leukocytenkurven und den Nachweis extramedullärer sowie extrasplenaler Blutbildungszentren in der Leber wahrscheinlich gemacht. Neben dem Fehlen der Gruppenspezifität wird gezeigt, daß die Kreuzreaktion zwischen Blutzellen von Ratte und Maus auf einen Teil der Antikörper beschränkt ist. Die gegen Organextrakte auftretenden Präzipitationen des Antilymphocytenserums werden als organunspezifisch interpretiert.
    Notes: Summary The following types of antibodies were differentiated in heterologous rabbit antisera against mouse or rat lymphocytes: 1. Anti-erythrocyte/leucocyte/ thrombocyte/liver/kidney-antibody; 2. Anti-leucocyte/thrombocyte/liver/kidney-antibody; 3. Anti-leucocyte-antibody; 4. Anti-erythrocyte-antibody; 5. Anti-serum-protein-antibody. While anti-erythrocyte and anti-leucocyte antibodies were found in the 7 S-as well as in the 19 S-Globulin-Fraction, antibodies against an antigen common to red cells and leucocytes were only demonstrated in the 7 S-fraction. The practical implications with the latter antibody what regards the absorption of red cell agglutinins were considered. Antibody activity against granulocytes was demonstrated by complementfixing tests, granulocyte count and extramedullary haemopoesis in the liver. The antibodies lack blood group specificity. Cross-reactivity between blood cells of rat and mouse does not involve all of the antibodies. The precipitation lines of the antibodies against organ extracts were not interpreted as organ specific.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Autoradiographische und interferometrische Untersuchungen an Tupfpräparaten der regenerierenden Rattenleber ergeben eine nahezu quantitative Beziehung zwischen Kerntrockengewicht und Einbau von 3H-Thymidin in die DNS. Zur Bestimmung des relativen 3H-Thymidingehalts des Einzelkerns wurde die Silberkornzahl auflichtphotometrisch bestimmt und für die Koinzidenz der β-Teilchen sowie für die β-Selbstabsorption korrigiert. Die Ergebnisse lassen eine lineare Korrelation zwischen Kerntrockengewicht und 3H-Thymidineinbau zweifelhaft erscheinen.
    Notes: Summary Autoradiographic and interferometric investigations have been performed in single nuclei from the regenerating liver of the rat. The results indicate an almost quantitative correlation between nuclear dry mass and amount of 3H-thymidine incorporated into DNA. In order to determine the relative amount of 3H-thymidine per single cell grain counts were done by incident light photometry. They were corrected for the coincidence of β-corpuscles as well as for the influence of β-self absorption. A non-linear relation between nuclear dry mass and incorporation of 3H-thymidine per nucleus seems to be most probable.
