Kinetics and Mechanism of the Reaction of N-Nitro-N-alkyl-urethanes with Primary Aliphatic AminesThe aminolysis of N-alkyl-N-nitrourethanes takes place, as the kinetical studies demonstrate, by means of several consecutive steps.The nucleophilic attack of the amine (first step; reaction B), as well as the proton-transfere (second step; reaction C), are quick pre-equilibres, followed by the slow, rate-determining elimination of the nitramino-group (reaction D).During the deprotonation, an intermediate with two to the nitramino-group antiperiplanar orbitals is formed, providing the necessary mesomeric assistance of the elimination.

Fragmentation of Monocyclic Hydrocarbons as a Function of the Ring SizeThe E.I.-spectra of the cycloalkanes CnH2n (n = 5 - 14) and of the cycloalkenes CnH2n-2 (n = 5 - 12) exhibit strongly influence of the ring strain energies on the stability of molecular ions. Medium-sized cycloalkanes and cycloalkenes (n = 9 - 11) show exceptional behaviour under the conditions of the electron impact ionization, which is discussed on the base of ring strain effects.

Notes: Studies on UV/VIS Absorption Spectra of Azo Dyes. III. Empirical Absorption Increments Derived from Azobenzenes and their Relationship to Reactivity Constants, Spectroscopic Substituent Constants and Ionisation PotentialsAbsorption increments ∊ which specifically characterize the substituents are derived from the difference in exitation energy between azobenzene and monosubstituted azobenzenes. These increments have been found to predict accurately the effect of substituents of the long wave π → π* band of polysubstituted azobenzenes.Comparison of the ∊ values with HAMMETT-σ reactivity constants reveals direct proportionality between the two sets of constants. There is also a direct proportionality between the increments and spectroscopic substituent constants introduced by BLOOR and COPLEY. Furthermore, a correlation of the ∊ values with the ionization potentials of substituents was found.

Electron Impact Fragmentation of TrimethylsilylalkanonesIt has been shown that the fragmentation of trimethylsilyl alkanones on electron impact proceeds with a uniform mechanism which differs from that of silicon-free ketones by the fact, that no α cleavage is observed.It consists of a McLafferty rearrangement at the silicon-free alkyl group, followed by a McLafferty-type cleavage involving migration of the silyl group to yield the radical ion of the respective trimethylsilyl enolether.

Notes: The Darzens Reaction with ThiazolaldehydesThe reaction of formyl-phenyl-thiazoles 3-9 with ω-chloracetophenone 1 and p-nitrobenzyl chloride 2 was studied. It is shown that the Darzens reaction occurs easily with the 4-formyl derivates. There is some competition by the Cannizzaro reaction. The structure of isomers 16Z and 16E was established by 1H-n.m.r. spectroscopy.

Notes: Conductometric and Spectroscopic Investigations of the Interaction of Lewis Acids with Halide ComplexesThe interaction of counter ions with Lewis acids has been investigated using mode systems of the type (C6H5)3C⊕ MXn+1⊖ (M = Sb, As, B, Fe; X = Cl, F) by means of conductometrical and UV-spectroscopic methods. The changes of conductivity were strongly dependent on the nature and concentration of the Lewis acid. The results point to 1:1-complexes between Lewis acids and counter ions. The behaviour was found to be complicated by dissoziation resp. assoziation processes. Ligand exchange reactions between Lewis acid and counter ion have also been found.

Notes: The Reaction of N-Sulfinylamines with Isocyanides and Synthesis of 2,5-Diaryl-3,4-diarylimino-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-S-oxidesN-Sulfinylamines 1 react with isocyanides 2 to give isocyanates 3, isothiocyanates 6, and especially 2,5-diaryl-3,4-diarylimino-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-S-oxides 7.This new heterocyclic ring system 7 can also be synthesized in high yields by a cyclization reaction of tetraarylated oxalic amidines 9 with thionyl chloride.The acid catalyzed hydrolysis of the heterocyclic compounds 7 leads to oxalic anilides 8, the hydrolysis with alkali forms amidines 9. The amidine 9a reacts with N-sulfinyl-p-toluenesulfonamide 11 to give an open chained adduct 12.

Notes: Azoperoxides. VI. Selective Decomposition of β-AzoacylperoxidesThe selective decomposition of the O—O-Groups in the azoperoxides 1 and 2 is possible by reaction with dimethylaniline at 35°C. Rate constants were measured and the decomposition products were analyzed. Intermediates are azoalkyl radicals. The radical yield of the amine induced decomposition of 2 in ethylbenzene is 8.2% at 35°C.UV irradiation of the azoperoxides 1 and 2 at 20°C in ethylbenzene results in a quantitative and selective decomposition of the azo groups. Intermediates are C-radicals with intact peroxide groups. The reaction of 1 and 2 with triethylstannane yields reduction products of the O—O-groups and the N=N-groups, respectively.

Es wird gezeigt, daß die Reaktion zweistufig und über die Ester 3-5 verläuft, welche zu den Salzen 6 cyclisieren. Das Zwischenprodukt 5a wurde isoliert, seine Struktur aufgeklärt und ein Reaktionsmechanismus vorgeschlagen.2-Oxo-morpholiniumsalze 6 hydrolysieren in wäßriger Lösung zu den entsprechenden Betainen 7. Der Hydrolysegrad wurde bestimmt. Die Betaine 7 können in umgekehrter Weise zu den 2-Oxomorpholinium-Derivaten 6 cyclisieren.

Notes: Proton-Catalyzed Disulfide Exchange of S-Alkylthio Cysteine DerivativesAlthough N-unprotected S-alkylthio cysteine derivatives are relatively stable in acid solutions, N-acylsubstituted and N-urethane protected S-alkylthio cysteines react easily by disulfide exchange. As a rule the frequently used tert.-butyloxycarbonyl amino protecting group, present in ethylthio cysteine derivatives can′t be removed selectively without disulfide cleavage, whilst the 2-(p-biphenylyl)isopropyloxycarbonyl and the 2-phenyl-isopropyloxycarbonyl amino protecting groups are removable without any structure change of the alkylthio thiol protecting groups. It is advisable to realize this acid demasking of the amino groups by means of weak deblocking reagents. Comperative experiments in acid solution prove S-tert.-butylthio group to be the most stable protecting function, whilst isopropylthio cysteine derivatives are more stable than the corresponding S-ethylthio compounds. All these results and experiments with addition of different thiols as well as u.v.-spectroscopic investigations indicate, that the observed acid catalyzed disulfide exchange proceeds via a carbonyl neighbouring group effect and formation of thiazolidinium and thiazolinium intermediates, respectively.

Description / Table of Contents: Azomethine-Imines. I. To the Photoreversibility of the System Azomethine-Imine/Diaziridine,Investigated on Pyrazolidone-Azomethine-IminesPyrazolidone-azomethine-Imines of the type 1 with polycyclic aromatic substituents R undergo a photoreversible reaction to diaziridines 2. In the u.v./VIS-spectra of the two forms 1 and 2 the difference of the λmax-values is about 100 nm. Therefore this system is suitable as a new reversible photochromic system. The influence of substituents R′ to the u.v./VIS-spectra of the 1.3-dipolar form 1 is discussed.

Notes: Die seit langem bekannten Pyrazolidon-Azomethinimine 1 sind als carbonylstabilisierte 1,3-Dipole aufzufassen und lassen sich relativ leicht synthetisieren [1, 2]. Später wurde erkannt, daß diese Verbindungen beim Belichten aus der 1,3-Dipolform 1 in die bicyclische Diaziridinform 2 übergehen und daß diese Reaktion thermisch reversibel ist [3]. Uns interessierte die Frage, ob die Diaziridine 2 auch photochemisch wieder in die Dipolform überführbar sind.

This new correlation was used for the estimation of σ- resp. σ-values for p-(CH3)2N-, p-C6H5CO- and p-C6H5—N = N-groups as well as for β-naphthyl- and pyridyl(4)-rings. The applicability of a similar Hammett equation for the o-substituted compounds is not possible.

Notes: Reactions of 3-Aroylimino-3H-1,2-dithiolesThe thiolates 3 and 10 prepared from 3-aroylimino-4-aroylthio-5-cyano-3H-1,2-dithioles 1 with bases, react with alkylhalides and acylhalides to the corresponding 4-S-substituted compounds 6, 11 and 7, respectively. Treatment of the thiolates with 1-chloropropanone gives the bicyclic compound 12 by intramolecular cyclization involving the 5-cyano-group. 3,6-Bis-(acylimino)-3H,6H-[4,3-c] [1,2]-dithioles 2 or 8 are prepared from the S-acylated dithioles 1 or 7 and sulphur in pyridine/benzene. 1,2,4-Triazines 13 are formed by the reaction of dithiol es 1 orthiolates 3 with phenylhydrazine. The thiolates give upon protonation the mesoionic dithioliumthiolates 4. Coordination compounds are obtained from the reaction of the thiolates with cations of 3d-elements. On the basis of the chemical behaviour of the new 3-acylimino-1,2-dithioles and the results of spectroscopic measurements a strong bonding interaction between the N-acyl-carbonylgroup and the dithiole ring system in these compounds is supposed.

Notes: Polymerization of Vinyl Compounds in the Presence of Titanium(III)ChlorideThe polymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile and some methacrylates initiated by a titanium(III) chloride dichloroacetic acid redox system was studied. The monomer selectivity of the polymerization in the presence of titanium(III) chloride was found to be affected by a reductive termination reaction. Titanium(III) chloride acts as a retarder in the polymerization of styrene initiated by azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN). The polymerization of polar monomers like acrylonitrile, methyl, ethyl and propyl methacrylate by AIBN is inhibited by titanium(III) chloride.

Notes: Studies on Sulphochlorination of Paraffins. VIII. Studies on the Hydrolysis of Individual Alkane Sulphochlorides by Sodium HydroxideThe hydrolysis of individual C1—C5 alkane sulphochlorides by sodium hydroxide in dioxane/water (1:1) was kinetically studied at 25°C by means of stopped-flow technique, measuring the change of electric conductivity.The rate constants were influenced by steric hindrance, but in all cases were higher than the rate constant for alkaline hydrolysis of benzene sulphochloride, which cannot react according to the elimination-addition (sulphene) mechanism.The reaction enthalpy of the alkaline hydrolysis of four individual alkane sulphochlorides was determined by a simple calorimetric apparatus; the average value amounts to δRH = -239 kJ mol-1.

Notes: Spin Labeled Oligopeptides as Substrate Analogous Inhibitors of Leucine AminopeptidaseThe synthesis of L-Thr(But)-(L-Phe)n-SL peptides C-terminal labeled with the nitroxide spin label 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-3-amino-pyrrolidin-1-oxyl, is described and e.s.r. parameters of the labeled compounds are presented. As shown by e.s.r. spectroscopy studies Thr(But)-Phe-SL is a competitive inhibitor of the leucine aminopeptidase and is bound by the enzyme with high affinity.

Notes: Synthesis of trans-4-Diphenylphosphinyl StilbenesThe reaction of 4-tolyl-diphenylphosphine oxide with N-bromosuccinimide results in 4-diphenylphosphinyl benzylbromide 5 which can be easily converted to (4-diphenylphosphinyl)-benzyl triphenylphosphonium bromide 6 and (4-diphenylphosphinyl)-benzyl diphenylphosphine oxide 7, respectively. In the presence of strong bases 6 and 7 react with aromatic aldehydes 8 to the 4-diphenylphosphinyl substituted stilbenes 1. The yields depend on the nature of base and solvent. The trans configuration of 1 is determined by i.r. and 1H-n.m.r. measurements.

Studies on the Sulphochlorination of Individual Alkyl ChloridesThe products of sulphochlorination of individual C2-C7 alkyl chlorides were studied by means of 1H- and 13C-n.m.r. spectroscopy. Gaschromatographic determination of the isomers formed was possible after the reaction of the chloroalkane sulphochloride mixture with dimethyl amine in ether. In no case geminal chloroalkane sulphochlorides were formed. Vicinal chlorosulphochlorides are formed, but substitution in greater distance from the chlorine is preferred if possible. Thus higher alkyl chlorides yield only very little amounts of vicinal chloroalkane sulphochlorides. The relative rates of sulphochlorination of alkyl chlorides were determined by competitive reactions.

Notes: Studies on the Autoxidation of cis- und trans-β-Methyl StyreneIn the autoxidation of cis- and trans-β-methyl styrene at temperatures between 80 and 120°C the C=C-double bond is preferably attacked: 35-60% of epoxides and their consecutive products and 25-50% of benzaldehyde are obtained. Products of allylic oxidation are formed only with yields lower than 1%; high-boiling or polymeric products, respectively, which could not be detected gaschromatographically are formed with yields lower than 20%. The ratio of cis- to trans-epoxides in the case of cis-β-methyl styrene oxidation amounts to about 0.04, in the case of trans-β-methyl styrene oxidation this ratio is about 0.01.

Bei der Reaktion mit 3 ist Säurekatalyse not-wendig. Untersuchungen zum Mechanismus erlauben es, anzunehmen, daß Camphoranil 8 ein gemeinsames Zwischenprodukt für alle Produkte und 4 der H-Donator in den Reduktionsstufen ist, auf der Grundlage von kinetischen und stereochemischen Beweisen und unabhängigen chemischen Experimenten.

Palladiumcomplexcatalyzed Telomerization of Butadiene with Amines and Dimerization in the Presence of KetoximesButadiene reacts with primary or secondary amines and with the homogeneous catalytic system bis-acetylacetonatopalladium-(II)/triphenylphosphine to form 1-amino-octa-2,7-dienes. The rate and the selectivity of the reaction increase in presence of cocatalysts as triarylphosphates instead of triphenylphosphine and if the reaction proceeds in a protic media - in alcohols, water or lower carboxylic acids. A number of 1-aminoocta-2,7-dienes were prepared. If oximes act as organic nitrogen compounds, only n-octa-1,3,7-triene is selectively formed. Schiff' bases aldolisate under the conditions of the reaction.

Catalytic Codimerization of Isomeric Octatrienes with Ethene by Nickel ComplexesThe isomeric octatrienes (n-octa-1,3c,t,7-triene 1, n-octa-1,3c,6t-triene 2 and 3-methylhepta-1,4t,6-triene 3), which are easily obtained in high yields by transition metal catalysed dimerization of butadiene, react with ethene 4 in the presence of the cationic tetrakis-(triethylphosphite)-nickelhydride complex 5 to the dodimers 3-methylnona-1,4c,t,8-triene 6, 4-vinylocta-2c, 7-diene 7, 3-methyl nona-1,4c,t,7t-triene 8, 4-vinylocta-2c,6t-diene 9, 3,6-dimethylocta-1,4c,t,7-triene 10 and 3-methyl-4-vinylhepta-1,5c-diene 11. The concentration-time dependence and a possible reaction mechanism of the codimerization are discussed and the structure data of the reaction products are reported.

Mittels EPR-Spektroskopie wurde gefunden, daß Anzahl und Konzentration der Cr(V)-Komplexe vom Lösungsmittel abhängen und mit steigender Donorzahl des Lösungsmittels zunehmen. Notes: Syntheses of trail Pheromones of the Pharao Ant (Monomorium pharaonis (L.))Hofmann-Löffler-reaction, starting from 5-amino-tridecane yields pyrrolidine mixtures containing 2-butyl-5-pentyl-pyrrolidine 1, known as a trail pheromone of the Pharao ant. An analogous reaction of 7-amino-pentadecane leads to 2-hexyl-5-pentyl-pyrrolidine 2 as a mixture with an isomer. Definite 2,5-dialkyl-pyrrolidines are obtained by Seebach alkylation from N-nitroso-pyrrolidines e.g. 1, 2 or 3, the latter with an unsaturated side chain. Change of reaction conditions led to 2,2-dialkyl-pyrrolidines. Dehydrogenation followed by hydrogenation converts a mixture of cis-trans-isomers of 1 into definite cis-compound 1a. Trails of these pyrrolidines are followed by Pharao ants.

Poor correlations of \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \begin{array}{*{20}c} \sim \\ {\nu _{\max } } \\ \end{array} $\end{document} values with functions of ∊ and n of solvents are found. A comparison of spectral data with the ET scale shows a much poorer correlation. The correlation with the ET values are significantly better if the protic solvents are excluded. The best of the tested relationships was found with the empirical solvent parameters π*. Values of S in the equation \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$\begin{array}{*{20}c} \sim \\ {\nu _{\max } } \\\end{array} = {\rm S}\pi ^{\rm *} {\rm + }\begin{array}{*{20}c} \sim \\ {\nu 0} \\\end{array}, $\end{document} depend on the dye structure. It is found a relationship between S and the difference of quantum chemical calculated dipol moments in the first exited singlet (μ(S1)) and in the ground state (μ(S0)) of the dyes.

Notes: Benzophenone Photoinduced Oxidation of Benzyl Aryl Ether and Aromatic Solventsα-Ether radicals formed in the photoreaction of benzophenone with benzyl phenyl ether were oxidized in benzene solution to phenol, benzaldehyde and phenylbenzoate. A mechanism including an instable intermediate α-ether hydroperoxide is discussed with the help of kinetic and CIDNP results. The quantum yields of the oxygen consumption show a linear dependence on the ether concentration. They are much higher in the pure solvent benzene than expected from the quenching and deactivation processes. This agrees with the existence of a biradicalic adduct of triplet benzophenone with aromatic solvents and shows that these solvents are far from being inert under these conditions.

Chemical Shifts in 2-Bromo-cycloalkanoles and 2-Bromo-1-methoxy-cycloalkanes of Different Ring SizeThe 13C-n.m.r. spectra of a series of bromo-cycloalkanes, cycloalkanoles, methoxy-cycloalkanes, trans-2-bromo-cycloalkanoles and trans-2-bromo-1-methoxy-cycloalkanes (ring size n = 5, 6, 7, 8, 12) as well as cis-2-bromo-cyclododecanol and cis-2-bromo-1-methoxycyclododecane are obtained and assigned. The 13C-chemical shifts of the monosubstituted compounds have been used to estimate the substituent effects of bromo, hydroxy and methoxy groups to the α-, β- and γ-position. Using these shift parameters, the 13C-chemical shifts of the vicinal disubstituted compounds are calculated in an additive incremental manner. These 13C-chemical shifts have been compared with the experimental values and the differences are discussed with respect to the magnitude of the deviations from additivity with the dimension of steric and electronic interaction of the vicinal substituents.

Studies on the Chlorination of Individual Alkane SulphochloridesThe products of the chlorination of individual C2-C6 alkane sulphochlorides were studied by means of 13C-n.m.r. spectroscopy. In no case a geminal chloro sulphochloride could be found, and only in very few cases chlorination at vicinal C—H-bonds took place. As in the sulphochlorination of alkane sulphochlorides the C—H-bonds geminal and vicinal to the sulphochloride group are strongly descativated. The results of 13C-n.m.r. analyses were confirmed by the results of gaschromatography of the sulphonic acid dimethyl amides, formed by the reaction of the chlorination mixtures with dimethyl amine.

A Contribution to the Isomerization Mechanism of Mixed Diacyl Derivatives of 2-AminophenolStarting with 2-acylaminophenols 5 and 2-(2-acylvinylamino)-phenols 6 the N-acyl O-acylvinyl derivatives 7 of 2-aminophenol and their N-acylvinyl O-acyl isomers 8 were prepared and characterized. These vinylogous acyl compounds are able to isomerize in the same manner as simple O,N-diacylated 2-aminophenols 3 and 4, which under suitable conditions easily rearrange to give a dynamic equilibrium 3 ⇌ 4. Contrary to 3 and 4, however, the isomerization of 7 and 8 can be followed directly by spectroscopic methods, so that vinylogs of this type are useful model systems for studying acyl group migrations in 2-aminophenol. Kinetic measurements show that the mutual rearrangement of 7 and 8 is a reversible general based catalyzed reaction, being first order with respect to substrate and catalyst. The isomerization of the N-acetyl derivatives 7a-h as well as the N-benzoyl derivatives 7i-p results in strictly linear HAMMETT correlations with positive reaction constants ϱ. In the case of 7a-h the equilibrium constant K and the forward and reverse velocity constants k1 and k2 (including activation parameters) could be determined. The kinetic investigations and additional nonkinetic experiments indicate that the catalyst acts as proton acceptor and not - as hitherto supposed - as acyl group transferring nucleophile. Based on the findings an isomerization mechanism for mixed diacyl derivatives of 2-aminophenol is suggested.

The Protonated PyrroleThe potential surface of protonated pyrrole was analysed for minima and saddle points of first and higher order by special numerical methods. The calculations were carried out on the basis of semiempirical methods tested in the past on related cationic systems.The relative energies of face protonated pyrrole, the σ-complexes and H-bridged structures were compared with recent results on the benzene-H+ system to interprete the H-shifts in the cation and the intermediates in the proton exchange reaction. Theoretical suggestions for solvatation effects are considered in the discussion. One of the most striking results is the high barrier for the H-shift from the N-protonated form to the α-position.

Notes: Investigations to the Interaction between p-Substituted Benzaldehydes and N.M.R.-Shift ReagencesThe influence of n.m.r. shift reagents (Eu(fod)3 and Pr(fod)3) on the chemical shifts of p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde has been investigated at 13C and 1H-n.m.r. spectroscopy. The induced shifts of the protons are quantitatively explained on the basis of pseudocontact interaction. In 13C-n.m.r. spectra significant contact interactions have also been noted. The 13C induced shifts have been separated into pseudocontact and contact contributions by two different methods. Calculations of relative equilibrium constants in mixtures have been carried out for p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde, p-nitrobenzaldehyde, anisaldehyde and benzaldehyde. The relative equilibrium constants show a good correlation with the Hammett substituent constants.

Notes: Studies on the Autoxidation of Some Monocyclic OlefinsThe autoxidations of cyclopentene, cyclohexene, cycloheptene, cyclooctene, cycloocta-1,5-diene, 1-methylcyclopentene, 1-methylcyclohexene, 1-methylcycloheptene, 1-methylcyclooctene, methylene cyclopentene, and methylene cyclohexene with pure oxygen under normal pressure were studied. The epoxides formed were determined gaschromatographically. In most cases also the products of allylic oxidation were analyzed and their structures elucidated after reduction to the corresponding allyl alcohols. The portions of high boiling or polymeric products which could not be detected gaschromatographically and also the real yields of epoxides were determined by balance experiments in the presence of inert internal standards.

The Charge-Transfer-Interaction of bπ-Donors with Organic Cations in SolutionThe interaction of 25 aromatic bπ-donors with organic cations of the type (RC6H4)3 C⊕X⊖ (R = —CH3, —C(CH3)3, —OCH3, —H, —Cl, —I, —NO2; X = BF4⊖, AsF6⊖, SbCl6⊖, FeCl4⊖) is investigated by means of u.v.-spectroscopy. The influence of the dissociation on the charge transfer energy will be discussed. With the decreasing concentration of the salt the charge transfer band is hardly shifted at longer wave length. The charge transfer energy can be described as a linear function of structural parameters (i.e. σp of R; Ip of the donor and reciprocal radius of the anions, respectively).The influence of the solvent is dependent on both the donicity and dielectric factors.

Opening of the lactone ring results in the formation of 8. Allylic oxidation of 4b affords the 14,21-epoxide 10. Only the 22-methyl derivative 4a and its 3-O-tridigitoxoside 4d show strong biological effectivity, whereas methylation at 21R- or 21S-position results in considerable loss in activity.

Fluoranthen ist in allen untersuchten Elektronenzuständen planar, zeigt aber bei Elektronenanregung bemerkenswerte änderungen der Bindungslängen. Unter Verwendung dieser Geometriedaten werden das Absorptionsspektrum und die Fluoreszenz aus dem tiefsten und aus höher angeregten Zuständen interpretiert. Die ungewöhnlich große Stokessche Verschiebung kann ohne Annahme eines nichtplanaren S1-Zustandes verstanden werden. Ihre Größe nimmt mit zunehmender Energie von Sn ab.

Notes: Synthese und spektroskopische Charakterisierung einiger neuer 3,5-Bisarylierter-2-pyrazolinderivate. IIDurch Kondensation von Hydrazin bzw. substituierten Hydrazinen mit Chalkonen wurden einige neue 3,5-bisarylierte-2-pyrazoline 4, 7-18 dargestellt.Bromierung des Pyrazolins 4 liefert das 4-Brompyrazol 20.Die Verbindungen wurden durch hochauflösende Massenspektrometrie, UV-, IR- und H-NMR-Spektroskopie charakterisiert.

Notes: Reactions of Difluoridichloromethane with HydrocarbonsThe reaction of difluordichloromethane with different hydrocarbons between 150°C and 250°C yields the CFCl2-substituted hydrocarbons. Beside it the corresponding chlorides are formed. For the hydrocarbons studied the following sequence of reactivity against difluordichloro-methane was found. n-paraffins 〈 isoparaffins ≅ cycloparaffins 〈 alkylaromatics 〈 olefines.

Notes: d-N.M.R.-Investigation of the Restricted Rotation at the N—C(X)-Bonding Fragment. XII. C—N-Rotational Barrier in Different N-Substituted Carbamic Acid O-ethyl EstersThe 1H-n.m.r. spectra of a series of different N-substituted urethanes R1R2N-C(O)OC2H5 are studied at various temperatures. At low temperatures the syn/anti rotamers are assigned by using the LIS-values of the protons. The thermodynamic parameters ΔGC± of the restricted rotation about the partial C-N double bond are determined and discussed with regard to inductive, conjugative and homoconjugative effects of the N-substituents.

Notes: Three Component Reactions XI. Bromochlorination of Cyclopentene in the Presence of AlcoholsThe product composition of reaction mixtures after the addition of bromochlorine to cyclopentene in the presence of several alcohols was determined by GLC in dependence of the molar relations, the temperature and the order of addition. A comparison with the chlorination and bromination is given.The yields of three component products increase in the order bromination-bromochlorination-chlorination and decrease from primary to tertiary alcohols.

Starting from bicyclic amidacetales 6 aldehydes or bis-β-hydroxyethylamines 8 are formed. By quaternisation of the amidacetal-nitrogen followed by reaction with Grignard-agents the corresponding O,O-acetales are formed.

Notes: Concerning the Calculation of the Temperature Dependence of Critical Mizellization Concentration Values for Terminal Alkane SulphonatesTschernikov's equation for calculating cM-values of homologous sodium alkane-1-sulphonates at different temperatures has been modified. By means of this modified equation A values of Stauff/Klevens' equation have been calculated. These A values show a linear dependence on temperature.In a modified form presented in this paper Stauff/Klevens' equation can now be used for calculating cM-values of homologous sodium alkane-1-sulphonates at different temperatures.

Notes: Interpretation of the MO-diagrams of Free π-Radical Cations - Naphthalene, Butadiene, Styrene, 1-Methyl-styrene, 1,1′-DiphenylethyleneThe reactive and spectroscopic behaviour of the radical cations of the title compounds is discussed on the basis of general structural principles by means of molecular diagrams calculated with the PPP-LHP-SCF-MO-CI-method. The greater reactivity of the monomer radicals compared with the dimers is due to the character of polymethene-like compounds, whereas the lower reactivity of the dimer radicals cations can be ascribed to the more aromatic state of these species. The experimentally determined optical absorption maxima of the radical cations can be interpreted by the same classification.
