Description: We study performance and scaling of the Berlin Quantum Chromodynamics Program (BQCD) on the SGI Altix 4700 at Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ). We employ different communication methods (MPI, MPI with two OpenMP threads per process, as well as the shmem library) and run the MPI version on the two types of nodes of that machine. For comparison with other machines we made performance measurements on an IBM p690 cluster and a Cray XT4.

Description: In dieser Arbeit wird eine Serie von Remeshing-Verfahren um die Berücksichtigung von nicht-mannigfaltigen Dreiecksvernetzungen und Merkmalskantenzügen erweitert. Die betrachteten Verfahren arbeiten im Wesentlichen lokal. Daher können die im Rahmen dieser Arbeit entwickelten Erweiterungen, die nicht-mannigfaltige Kantenzüge und Merkmalskantenzüge betreffen, separat beschrieben werden. Dabei wird ein Ansatz verfolgt, beide Arten von besonderen Kantenzügen aufgrund ihrer Gemeinsamkeiten einheitlich zu behandeln. Dieser besteht zum einen darin, eine Korrespondenz zwischen Kantenzügen auf der Eingabe- und der Ausgabefläche zu erhalten, indem die Remeshing-Operationen auf den Kantenzügen in entsprechend eingeschränkter Weise verwendet werden. Zum anderen wird beschrieben, wie die Abtastdichte der Kantenzüge dynamisch an die Abtastdichte der Umgebung angepasst werden kann, um für weitgehende Isotropie in der Nähe von Merkmalskantenzügen zu sorgen.

Description: A unified approach for consistent remeshing of arbitrary non-manifold triangle meshes with additional user-defined feature lines is presented. The method is based on local operations only and produces meshes of high regularity and triangle quality while preserving the geometry as well as topology of the feature lines as well as the input mesh.

Description: This work introduces a novel streamline seeding technique based on dual streamlines that are orthogonal to the vector field, instead of tangential. The greedy algorithm presented here produces a net of orthogonal streamlines that is iteratively refined resulting in good domain coverage and a high degree of continuity and uniformity. The algorithm is easy to implement and efficient, and it naturally extends to curved surfaces.

Description: In dieser Arbeit wird eine neue Strategie zur Platzierung von Stromlinien vorgestellt. Hierzu werden zusätzliche duale Stromlinien verwendet, die --im Gegensatz zur üblichen Definition-- orthogonal zum Vektorfeld verlaufen. Der vorgestellte Greedy-Algorithmus berechnet ein Netz aus orthogonalen Stromlinien, welches iterativ verfeinert wird, was zu einer guten Abdeckung der Domäne und einer gleichmäßigen Verteilung der Stromlinien führt. Es handelt sich um einen einfach zu implementierenden und effizienten Algorithmus, der direkt auf gekrümmten Oberflächen anwendbar ist.

Notes: Im Gegensatz zu den bisherigen Möglichkeiten der Kennzeichnung technischer Paraffine, die für laufende Untersuchungen im Betrieb viel zu zeitraubend sind, wird eine neue Schnellmethode angegeben, mit der eine genügende Charakterisierung innerhalb von 24 Stunden möglich ist. Die Methode erlaubt, die Kettenlängendiagramme der n-Anteile ausreichend anzugeben, so wie dies in der Technik u. a. für die Paraffinoxydation notwendig ist. Gleichzeitig wird die Trennung in n- und iso-Paraffine mittels der Harnstoff-Methode nach SCHLIEF gestreift, die in einer späteren Veröffentlichung noch eingehend beschrieben wird. Die Resultate, die die Methode erzielt, werden an Hand einiger technischer Paraffine dargestellt.

Notes: Das System Praseodymoxyd-Neodymoxyd wurde im Bereich zwischen „Pr6O11“ und Nd2O3 bei verschiedenen Glühtemperaturen und in Abhängigkeit vom Ausgangsmaterial röntgenographisch untersucht. Es treten bei den hochgeglühten Versuchsreihen (1000° C und 1350° C) unabhängig vom Ausgangsmaterial und bei 750° C im Falle der oxalatzersetzten Proben mehr oder weniger weit ausgedehnte anomale Mischkristallphasen von Fluoritstruktur, hexagonale Mischkristallphasen vom A-Sesquioxydtyp und dazwischen die entsprechenden Zweiphasengebiete auf. Die genannten Phasenverhältnisse entsprechen nicht den Glühtemperaturen, sondern, bedingt durch unsere experimentelle Methode, niedrigeren „Einfriertemperaturen“. Letztere konnten durch Vergleich mit von anderer Seite veröffentlichten Untersuchungen ermittelt werden.Die Farben der Praseodym-Neodymmischoxyde stehen, wie aus kristallchemischen Gründen verständlich ist, in direkter Beziehung zu den stark von der Temperatur abhängigen Phasenverhältnissen. Nur bei den durch Zersetzung der Nitrate bei 750° C erhaltenen Präparaten liegen auf Grund des lückenlosen Übergangs vom Fluorittyp zum C-Sesquioxydtyp direkte Beziehungen zwischen Farbe und Zusammensetzung vor. Unter diesen Bedingungen sind im Bereich niederer Praseodymgehalte sehr genaue Schlüsse von der Farbe der Mischpräparate auf deren Zusammensetzung (Reinheit des Neodymoxyds in bezug auf Praseodym) möglich.Von den Mischkristallphasen der Fluoritstruktur wurde der Gang der Gitterkonstanten in Abhängigkeit von der Zusammensetzung bestimmt und diskutiert. Die Überlegungen zum anomalen Verlauf der Gitterkonstantenkurven beruhen im Prinzip darauf, daß das binäre System Praseodymoxyd-Neodymoxyd als ternäre Kombination PrO2—Pr2O3—Nd2O3 aufgefaßt werden muß.

Notes: Die Oberflächengrößen verschieden verpreßter Tonerdepillen wurden mit Hilfe von Adsorptions- und Durchströmungsmethoden untersucht. Dabei zeigt sich, daß die Größe der „inneren Oberfläche“, die in der Größenordnung von 2,5 · 106 cm2/g liegt, unabhängig ist vom Berstdruck bei der Herstellung der Pillen. Die Größe der „äußeren Oberfläche“ beträgt etwa 1 · 104 bis 1 · 105 cm2/g und ist eine Funktion des Berstdruckes der Pillen.Das Gefüge der Tonerdepillen zeigt bezüglich der Porenradien bis zu 1 · 10-5 cm keine Abhängigkeit vom Berstdruck. Die Grobstruktur ist aber vom Berstdruck abhängig, wenn auch den aus Durchströmungsmethoden gewonnenen Zahlen über Kapillarradien und Teilchengrößen kein absoluter Wert beizumessen ist.

Notes: Ausgehend von der Verbindung Ti(OC6H5)4 · C6H5OH wurde durch Ersatz des addierten Moles Phenol durch Ammoniak, bzw. stickstoff- oder sauerstoffhaltige organische Verbindungen eine Anzahl von Titanphenolat-Komplexen dargestellt, die auf ein Mol Ti(OC6H5)4 jeweils ein Mol der addierten Komponente enthalten. Durch Abspaltung des Ammoniaks aus der unten beschriebenen Verbindung Ti(OC6H5)4 · NH3 konnte Titantetraphenolat Ti(OC6H5)4 erhalten werden. Molekulargewichtsbestimmungen nach der kryoskopischen Methode ergaben für die Ausgangsverbindung Ti(OC6H5)4 · C6H5OH in benzolischer Lösung einen mit steigender Verdünnung zunehmenden Zerfall in Ti(OC6H5)4 und Phenol.

Notes: Die Auswertung der Fraktionen geschieht nach den klassischen Methoden der organischen Chemie durch fraktionierte Fällungen und Oxydation, um einen Vergleich zu den früheren Arbeiten zu bekommen. Die Auswertung bestätigte die Leistungsfähigkeit der in der II. Mitteilung1) beschriebenen Gegenstromdestillationsapparatur und ergab das Vorhandensein der drei isomeren Äthylderivate des Pyridins, die bisher im Braunkohlenteer noch nicht bekannt waren. Die früheren Ergebnisse in bezug auf Methylderivate des Pyridins konnten bestätigt werden.

Es werden die Vorgänge der enzymatischen Synthese und der enzymatischen Transglycosidierung bei Sacchariden an verschiedenen Modellen systematisch untersucht und die Angaben der Literatur im wesentlichen bestätigt.2. Bei der Säureeinwirkung auf verschiedene Disaccharide (Maltose, Cellobiose, Lactose) wird chromatographisch festgestellt, daß vor dem Sichtbarwerden von höhermolekularen Reversionsprodukten Oligosaccharide anderer Bildungsweise auftreten.3. Durch zeitlich abgestufte Hydrolyse gelingt es, die Produkte der sauren Transglycosidierung von denen der Reversion abzugrenzen.4. Es wird gezeigt, daß die bei der sauren Übertragung gebildeten Produkte wahrscheinlich im weiteren Verlauf der Umsetzungen um- oder abgebaut werden.5. An Hand der vergleichenden Auswertung der Ergebnisse über die enzymatische und die saure Transglycosidierung wird gefolgert, daß sich im sauren Milieu ähnliche Prozesse abspielen wie bei der enzymatischen Übertragung von Sacchariden von einem Donator- auf ein Acceptor-Saccharid.

Demgemäß sind im Rahmen des gesamtdeutschen Normungswerkes Bestrebungen im Gange zu einem Normvorschlag über die Festlegung brauchbarer Methoden zur Bestimmung der Flüchtigkeit der Weichmacher. Die nachstehende Arbeit soll dazu einen Beitrag liefern. Es ist vor allem zu erkennen, daß ein sehr wesentlicher Unterschied in der Flüchtigkeit der Weichmacher als solcher oder nach ihrer Verarbeitung mit einem Eukolloid besteht. Eine Reihe von Werten des Dampfdruckes ist mitgeteilt.

Notes: Es werden Verfahren zur Herstellung von metallfreien und metallhaltigen Isoindoleninen und deren Kondensationsprodukte beschrieben. Höhermolekulare Kupfer-, Nickel- oder Kobalt-Isoindolenine lassen sich leicht in die entsprechenden Phthalocyanine überführen. Die Farbstoffbildung vollzieht sich unter so milden Bedingungen, daß mit den Isoindoleninen die Erzeugung von Phthalocyaninen auf der Faser möglich ist, wobei man auch von den monomolekularen Verbindungen ausgehen kann. Als „Phtalogene“ (W.Z.) haben die Farbenfabriken Bayer, Leverkusen, solche Isoindolenine bereits im Handel.

Notes: Für den Mechanismus der Mannich-Reaktion wird die beherrschende Rolle des mesomeren Amino-methyl-(carbenium-imonium)-Ions als aminomethylierendes Agens herausgestellt. Mannich-Kondensation und Transamino-methylierung lassen sich als Spezialfälle in den Rahmen des umfassenderen Reaktionstypus der Aminomethylierung einordnen. Es wird gezeigt, daß dieser Reaktion prinzipiell alle nucleophilen Verbindungen zugänglich sind. Die Reaktionsmechanismen der Aminomethylierung, je nach Wahl der Komponenten und Bedingungen, werden erörtert.

Notes: Es werden Verfahren zur Bestimmung des „gebundenen Stickstoffes“ und für den „Oxydationsgrad“ nitroser Gase in Gegenwart von Sauerstoff beschrieben, bei denen feste Substanzen (Silberpermanganat, Natriumchlorit, Natriumcarbonat) als Absorptionsmittel angewandt werden. Diese Methoden sind den bisherigen Verfahren an Genauigkeit und Schnelligkeit überlegen und eignen sich sowohl für exakte Analysen bei der Untersuchung der Kinetik von Gasreaktionen, an denen Oxyde des Stickstoffes beteiligt sind, als auch für industrielle Betriebsanalysen.

Notes: Neuraminsäure ist ein Baustein mancher Glykolipoide (Ganglioside) und vieler Glykoproteide. Sie kann als gut kristallisierendes Methylglykosid gefaßt werden. Aus Rindersubmaxillaris-Mucin wurde die außerordentlich alkali-empfindliche N-Acetyl-neuraminsäure gewonnen. Das Influenza-Virus spaltet aus Harn-Mucin, das ein starker Virus-Hämagglutinations-Hemmstoff ist, sowie aus Erythrocytenstroma N-Acetyl-neuraminsäure enzymatisch ab. Die Zellreceptoren für das Influenza-Virus dürften mit der N-Acetyl-neuraminsäure identisch sein, zumindest aber diese als wesentlichen Bestandteil enthalten. Schließlich werden noch die bisherigen experimentellen Befunde über die Konstitution der Neuraminsäure diskutiert.

Notes: Als Substrat der Kohlendioxyd-Fixierung im Photosynthesecyclus wurde Ribulose-diphosphorsäure erkannt, die unter der Wirkung der „Carboxydismutase“ in zwei Molekeln Phosphoglycerinsäure übergeht. Aus Phosphoglycerinsäure wird durch Reduktion und eine Reihe von in allen Einzelheiten aufgeklärten Umwandlungsreaktionen neben den Endprodukten der Photosynthese Ribulose-diphosphorsäure zurückgebildet, so daß sich ein Cyclus ergibt. Da für diese Reaktionen außer vier Äquivalenten Wasserstoff auch drei Molekeln Adenosintriphosphorsäure notwendig sind, wird die Einbeziehung der Adenosintriphosphorsäure-Erzeugung durch Oxydationsprozesse in den photosynthetischen Kohlenstoffreduktionscyclus angenommen. Diese Vorstellung wird durch Messung des Quantenbedarfs unterstützt. Da α-Liponsäure (thioctic acid) unter geeigneten Bedingungen zum Anstieg der lichtabhängigen Sauerstoff-Entwicklung und der Quantenausbeute führt, scheint diese oder eine ähnliche Verbindung der Wasserstoff-Acceptor bei der photochemischen Primärreaktion zu sein. Das gebildete Dithiol könnte seinen Wasserstoff auf andere Redoxsysteme, letztlich auf Phosphoglycerinsäure übertragen. Es wird ein Chloroplasten-Modell vorgeschlagen, das diesen Vorstellungen Rechnung trägt.
