1. To clear up the reactivity of solids with isotope-exchange experiments in solid-solution systems, four well defined Co compounds with different structures were chosen: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ \begin{array}{*{20}c} {{\rm Co}({\rm OH})_2 \,({\rm A}),\quad {\rm CO}({\rm OH})_{1,5} {\rm Cl}_{0,5} \,({\rm B}),\quad 4\,{\rm Co}({\rm OH})_2,\,{\rm Co}({\rm OH}){\rm Cl}\,({\rm C}),\quad {\rm and}} \\ {4\,{\rm Co}({\rm OH})_2,\,{\rm Co}_{1,25} {\rm OH}({\rm NO}_3)_{1,5} \,({\rm D}).} \\ \end{array} $$\end{document} A and B have perfectly ordered lattices. C and D are substances with partly defect structures; they have a double-layer structure, where ordered main layers of Co(OH)2 alternate with intermediate partly disordered layers of basic salt.
