    Supporting Global Numerical Optimization of Rational Functions by Generic Symbolic Convexity Tests (2010)

    Description: Convexity is an important property in nonlinear optimization since it allows to apply efficient local methods for finding global solutions. We propose to apply symbolic methods to prove or disprove convexity of rational functions over a polyhedral domain. Our algorithms reduce convexity questions to real quantifier elimination problems. Our methods are implemented and publicly available in the open source computer algebra system REDUCE. Our long term goal is to integrate REDUCE as a workhorse'' for symbolic computations into a numerical solver.

    Fault-Tolerant and Decentralized Lease Coordination in Distributed Systems (2010)

    Description: Applications which need exclusive access to a shared resource in distributed systems require a fault-tolerant and scalable mechanism to coordinate this exclusive access. Examples of such applications include distributed file systems and master/slave data replication. We present Flease, an algorithm for decentralized and fault-tolerant lease coordination in distributed systems. Our algorithm allows the processes competing for a resource to coordinate exclusive access through leases among themselves without a central component. The resulting system easily scales with an increasing number of nodes and resources. We prove that Flease ensures exclusive access, i.e. guarantees that there is at most one valid lease at any time.

In this way, delay resistant schedules can be constructed. Computational results for large-scale real-world problems demonstrate substantial punctuality improvements.     State Trajectory Compression for Optimal Control with Parabolic PDEs (2010)

    Description: In optimal control problems with nonlinear time-dependent 3D PDEs, full 4D discretizations are usually prohibitive due to the storage requirement. For this reason gradient and quasi-Newton methods working on the reduced functional are often employed. The computation of the reduced gradient requires one solve of the state equation forward in time, and one backward solve of the adjoint equation. The state enters into the adjoint equation, again requiring the storage of a full 4D data set. We propose a lossy compression algorithm using an inexact but cheap predictor for the state data, with additional entropy coding of prediction errors. As the data is used inside a discretized, iterative algorithm, lossy coding maintaining an error bound is sufficient.

    A simple mathematical model of the bovine estrous cycle: follicle development and endocrine interactions (2010)

    Description: Bovine fertility is the subject of extensive research in animal sciences, especially because fertility of dairy cows has declined during the last decades. The regulation of estrus is controlled by the complex interplay of various organs and hormones. Mathematical modeling of the bovine estrous cycle could help in understanding the dynamics of this complex biological system. In this paper we present a mathematical model of the bovine estrous cycle that includes the processes of follicle and corpus luteum development and the key hormones that interact to control these processes. Focus in this paper is on development of the model, but also some simulation results are presented, showing that a set of equations and parameters is obtained that describes the system consistent with empirical knowledge. Even though the majority of the mechanisms that are included are only known qualitatively as stimulatory or inhibitory effects, the model surprisingly well features quantitative observations made in reality. This model of the bovine estrous cycle could be used as a basis for more elaborate models with the ability to study effects of external manipulations and genetic differences.

    Rapid Learning for Binary Programs (2010)

    Description: Learning during search allows solvers for discrete optimization problems to remember parts of the search that they have already performed and avoid revisiting redundant parts. Learning approaches pioneered by the SAT and CP communities have been successfully incorporated into the SCIP constraint integer programming platform. In this paper we show that performing a heuristic constraint programming search during root node processing of a binary program can rapidly learn useful nogoods, bound changes, primal solutions, and branching statistics that improve the remaining IP search.

    Models for Line Planning with Transfers (2010)

    Description: We propose a novel integer programming approach to transfer minimization for line planning problems in public transit. The idea is to incorporate penalties for transfers that are induced by “connection capacities” into the construction of the passenger paths. We show that such penalties can be dealt with by a combination of shortest and constrained shortest path algorithms such that the pricing problem for passenger paths can be solved efficiently. Connection capacity penalties (under)estimate the true transfer times. This error is, however, not a problem in practice. We show in a computational comparison with two standard models on a real-world scenario that our approach can be used to minimize passenger travel and transfer times for large-scale line planning problems with accurate results.

    Adaptive Timestep Control for the Contact-Stabilized Newmark Method (2010)

    Description: The aim of this paper is to devise an adaptive timestep control in the contact--stabilized Newmark method (CONTACX) for dynamical contact problems between two viscoelastic bodies in the framework of Signorini's condition. In order to construct a comparative scheme of higher order accuracy, we extend extrapolation techniques. This approach demands a subtle theoretical investigation of an asymptotic error expansion of the contact--stabilized Newmark scheme. On the basis of theoretical insight and numerical observations, we suggest an error estimator and a timestep selection which also cover the presence of contact. Finally, we give a numerical example.

    Railway capacity auctions with dual prices (2010)

    Description: Railway scheduling is based on the principle of the construction of a conflict-free timetable. This leads to a strict definition of capacity: in contrast with road transportation, it can be said in advance whether a given railway infrastructure can accommodate - at least in theory - a certain set of train requests. Consequently, auctions for railway capacity are modeled as auctions of discrete goods -- the train slots. We present estimates for the efficiency gain that may be generated by slot auctioning in comparison with list price allocation. We introduce a new class of allocation and auction problems, the feasible assignment problem, that is a proper generalization of the well-known combinatorial auction problem. The feasible assignment class was designed to cover the needs for an auction mechanism for railway slot auctions, but is of interest in its own right. As a practical instance to state and solve the railway slot allocation problem, we present an integer programming formulation, briefly the ACP, which turns out to be an instance of the feasible assignment problem and whose dual problem yields prices that can be applied to define a useful activity rule for the linearized version of the Ausubel Milgrom Proxy auction. We perform a simulation aiming to measure the impact on efficiency and convergence rate.

    Aggregation Methods for Railway Networks (2010)

    Description: In this paper a bottom-up approach of automatic simplification of a railway network is presented. Starting from a very detailed, microscopic level, as it is used in railway simulation, the network is transformed by an algorithm to a less detailed level (macroscopic network), that is sufficient for long-term planning and optimization. In addition running and headway times are rounded to a pre-chosen time discretization by a special cumulative method, which we will present and analyse in this paper. After the transformation we fill the network with given train requests to compute an optimal slot allocation. Then the optimized schedule is re-transformed into the microscopic level and can be simulated without any conflicts occuring between the slots. The algorithm is used to transform the network of the very dense Simplon corridor between Swiss and Italy. With our aggregation it is possible for the first time to generate a profit maximal and conflict free timetable for the corridor across a day by a simultaneously optimization run.

    Merging solutions of non-linear algebraic systems (2010)

    Description: In solving large polynomial algebraic systems that are too big for standard Gröbner basis techniques one way to make progress is to introduce case distinctions. This divide and conquer technique can be beneficial if the algorithms and computer programs know how to take advantage of inequalities. A further hurdle is the form of the resulting general solutions which often have unnecessarily many branches. In this paper we discuss a procedure to merge solutions by dropping inequalities which are associated with them and, if necessary, by re-parametrizing solutions. In the appendix the usefulness of the procedure is demonstrated in the classification of quadratic Hamiltonians with a Lie-Poisson bracket $e(3)$. This application required the solution of algebraic systems with over 200 unknowns, 450 equations and between 5000 and 9000 terms.

    Description: Wir stellen in dieser Arbeit ein mathematisches Optimierungsmodell zur Bestimmung eines optimalen Linienplans vor, das sowohl die Fahrzeiten und die Anzahl der Umstiege berücksichtigt als auch die Kosten des Liniennetzes. Dieses Modell deckt wichtige praktische Anforderungen ab, die in einem gemeinsamen Projekt mit den Verkehrsbetrieben in Potsdam (ViP) formuliert wurden. In diesem Projekt wurde der Linienplan 2010 für Potsdam entwickelt. Unsere Berechnungen zeigen, dass die mathematische Optimierung in nichts einer "Handplanung" des Liniennetzes nachsteht. Im Gegenteil, mit Hilfe des Optimierungsprogramms ist es möglich, durch Veränderung der Parameter mehrere verschiedene Szenarien zu berechnen, miteinander zu vergleichen und Aussagen über minimale Kosten und Fahrzeiten zu machen.

    Description: The paper gathers evidence showing different dimensions of the game of Go: the continuous and discrete nature of the game and different types of relations between state variables happening on ultra local, local, regional, and global scales. Based on these observations a new continuous local model for describing a board position is introduced. This includes the identification of the basic variables describing a board position and the formulation and solution of a dynamical system for their computation. To be usable as a static evaluation function for a game playing program at least group-wide (regional)aspects will have to be incorporated.

    Railway Track Allocation by Rapid Branching (2010)

    Description: The track allocation problem, also known as train routing problem or train timetabling problem, is to find a conflict-free set of train routes of maximum value in a railway network. Although it can be modeled as a standard path packing problem, instances of sizes relevant for real-world railway applications could not be solved up to now. We propose a rapid branching column generation approach that integrates the solution of the LP relaxation of a path coupling formulation of the problem with a special rounding heuristic. The approach is based on and exploits special properties of the bundle method for the approximate solution of convex piecewise linear functions. Computational results for difficult instances of the benchmark library TTPLIB are reported.

    Optimizing the Simplon Railway Corridor (2010)

    Description: This paper presents a case study on a railway timetable optimization for the very dense Simplon corridor, a major railway connection in the Alps between Switzerland and Italy. Starting from a detailed microscopic network as it is used in railway simulation, the data is transformed by an automatic procedure to a less detailed macroscopic network, that is sufficient for the purpose of capacity planning and amenable to state-of-the-art integer programming optimization methods. In this way, the macroscopic railway network is saturated with trains. Finally, the corresponding timetable is re-transformed to the microscopic level in such a way that it can be operated without any conflicts among the slots. Using this integer programming based micro-macro aggregation-disaggregation approach, it becomes for the first time possible to generate a profit maximal and conflict free timetable for the complete Simplon corridor over an entire day by a simultaneous optimization of all trains requests. This also allows to to undertake a sensitivity analysis of various problem parameters.

    Analysis of a multi-scale asymptotic model for internal gravity waves in a moist atmosphere (2010)

    Description: The thesis presents the analysis of a reduced model for modulation of internal gravity waves by deep convective clouds. The starting point for the derivation are conservation laws for mass, momentum and energy coupled with a bulk micro-physics model describing the evolution of mixing ratios of water vapor, cloud water and rain water. A reduced model for the identified scales of the regime is derived, using multi-scale asymptotics. The closure of the model employs conditional averaging over the horizontal scale of the convective clouds. The resulting reduced model is an extension of the anelastic equations, linearized around a constant background state, which are well-known from meteorology. The closure of the model is achieved purely by analytical means and involves no additional physically motivated assumptions. The essential new parameter arising from the coupling to a micro-physics model is the area fraction of saturated regions on the horizontal scale of the convective clouds. It turns out that this parameter is constant on the employed short timescale. Hence the clouds constitute a constant background, modulating the characteristics of propagation of internal waves. The model is then investigated by analytical as well as numerical means. Important results are, among others, that in the model moisture (i) inhibits propagation of internal waves by reducing the modulus of the group velocity, (ii) reduces the angle between the propagation direction of a wave-packet and the horizontal, (iii) causes critical layers and (iv) introduces a maximum horizontal wavelength beyond which waves are no longer propagating but become evanescent. The investigated examples of orographically generated gravity waves also feature a significant reduction of vertical momentum flux by moisture. The model is extended by assuming systematically small under-saturation, that is saturation at leading order. The closure is similar to the original case but requires additional assumptions. The saturated area fraction in the obtained model is no longer constant but now depends nonlinearly on vertical displacement and thus on vertical velocity.

    A Constraint Integer Programming Approach for Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling (2010)

    Description: We propose a hybrid approach for solving the resource-constrained project scheduling problem which is an extremely hard to solve combinatorial optimization problem of practical relevance. Jobs have to be scheduled on (renewable) resources subject to precedence constraints such that the resource capacities are never exceeded and the latest completion time of all jobs is minimized. The problem has challenged researchers from different communities, such as integer programming (IP), constraint programming (CP), and satisfiability testing (SAT). Still, there are instances with 60 jobs which have not been solved for many years. The currently best known approach, lazyFD, is a hybrid between CP and SAT techniques. In this paper we propose an even stronger hybridization by integrating all the three areas, IP, CP, and SAT, into a single branch-and-bound scheme. We show that lower bounds from the linear relaxation of the IP formulation and conflict analysis are key ingredients for pruning the search tree. First computational experiments show very promising results. For five instances of the well-known PSPLIB we report an improvement of lower bounds. Our implementation is generic, thus it can be potentially applied to similar problems as well.

    Coupling Meshbased and Meshfree Methods by a Transfer Operator Approach (2010)

    Description: In contrast to the well known meshbased methods like the finite element method, meshfree methods do not rely on a mesh. However besides their great applicability, meshfree methods are rather time consuming. Thus, it seems favorable to combine both methods, by using meshfree methods only in a small part of the domain, where a mesh is disadvantageous, and a meshbased method for the rest of the domain. We motivate, that this coupling between the two simulation techniques can be considered as saddle point problem and show the stability of this coupling. Thereby a novel transfer operator is introduced, which interacts in the transition zone, where both methods coexist.

    Notes: Bei der Einwirkung von α-Halogen-ketonen auf Oxalamidrazon oder N.N′-Diamino-guanidin entstehen die Bis-hydrazone 1-5 bzw. 6-10. Aus diesen erhält man mit Pyridin die Pyridiniumsalze 11-15 bzw. 16 - 20, die beim Erhitzen mit Alkalien in die entsprechend substituierten Dihydro-as-triazin-Derivate (z. B. 22) und Pyridin gespalten werden.  -  Die alkalische Spaltung des Acetonyl-pyridiniumchlorid-guanylhydrazon-hydrochlorids (23) führt  -  entgegen unseren früheren Angaben  -  zu 3-Amino-6-methyl-2.5-dihydro-1.2.4-triazin (25) und Pyridin.

Bei den aus den Carbinolen oder aus den Bromiden zugänglichen Pentaaryl-cyclopentadienyl-Kationen ist der Triplettzustand mit der Elektronenspinresonanz nachweisbar. Innerhalb beider homologer Reihen wird der Substituenteneinfluß auf das Singulett/Triplett-Gleichgewicht bestimmt.

    Notes: Schwefeldichlorid vermag N.N-disubstituierte Formamide bzw. Thioformamide zu Carbamidsäure- bzw. Thiocarbamidsäurechloriden zu chlorieren. Dagegen reagiert Dischwefeldichlorid nur mit Thioformamiden. Sulfurylchlorid chloriert disubstituierte Formamide unter SO2-Abspaltung zu Carbamidsäurechloriden, während Thiocarbamidsäurechloride auf diesem Wege nicht erhältlich sind. Zusatz von Basen beschleunigt die Reaktionen so, daß sie bei Raumtemperatur in wenigen Minuten ablaufen. Salzartige Verbindungen analog denen, die bei der Vilsmeier-Haack-Synthese auftreten, werden als Zwischenverbindungen angenommen. In ähnlicher Weise werden N-substituierte Thioamide durch Schwefeldichlorid und Dischwefeldichlorid zu Senfölen oxydiert.

    Notes: Die Einwirkung von NO auf Phosphin-nickel(II)-Komplexe (1) beginnt mit einem Elektronenübergang von NO auf die Nickelverbindungen. Das dabei entstehende NO+-Kation lagert sich anschließend an die Komplexe an unter Bildung fünffachkoordinierter Derivate (3). Diese spalten intermolekular Phosphindihalogenide ab und liefern dabei Gemische der ein-kernigen (4) und zweikernigen Phosphin-nickel-nitrosyl-halogenide (5). Je nach den Substituenten bleibt die Reaktion der einzelnen Komplexe mit NO auf verschiedenen Stufen dieses Reaktionsschemas stehen. Die Umsetzung eignet sich zur präparativen Gewinnung der Phosphin-nickel-nitrosyl-halogenide (4).

    Notes: β-Acetochlorgalaktose (1) reagiert mit Antimonpentachlorid bei 40° zu einem Acet-oxonium-hexachloroantimonat, das zu 46% aus Galaktose-1.2-Acetoxonium-Salz 4 und zu 54% aus Talose-2.3-Acetoxonium-Salz 5 besteht. Durch Hydrolyse des Salzes und Nachacetylierung ist Penta-O-acetyl-α-d-talopyranose (7) mit 31% Ausbeute direkt erhältlich. β-Acetochlorgalaktose (1) ergibt mit Silberacetat/Essigsäure 1.3.4.6-Tetra-O-acetyl-α-d-galaktopyranose.

    Notes: Auf Grund kinetischer Untersuchungen wird versucht, den Bildungsmechanismus von 5H-Benzo[a]phenoxazon-(5) (4) näher zu beleuchten.  -  Bei der Reaktion zwischen o-Amino-phenol (1) und 2-Hydroxy-naphthochinon-(1.4) (2) entstehen 2-[2-Hydroxy-anilino]-naphtho-chinon-(1.4) (3) und 4. Für diese Reaktion ist die Anwesenheit von Luftsauerstoff erforderlich; in inerter Atmosphäre findet keine meßbare Umsetzung statt. Bei der Bildung in Äthanol reagiert 3 nicht weiter. In Eisessig ist 3 gleichzeitig Zwischenprodukt der Synthese von 4, das teils durch intramolekulare Reaktion (k1 = 4.25·10-6 sec-1), teils durch Reaktion mit o-Amino-phenol (k2 = 5.07·10-2 lsec-1 Mol-1) entsteht. Außerdem wird o-Amino-phenol in einer Nebenreaktion (k3 = 1.32·10-4 sec-1) vom Lösungsmittel acetyliert.  -  Diese Reaktionen verlaufen auch in inerter Atmosphäre.

    Notes: β-Diketone reagieren in HCI-gesättigten organischen Lösungsmitteln bei Raumtemperatur nicht nur mit den reinen Sulfanen H2S2 und H2S3, sondern auch mit dem sehr leicht zugänglichen „Rohöl“ (Sulfangemisch H2Sx mit x ˜ 5) unter Bildung von 1.2-Dithiolium-Kationen. So wurden die bereits bekannten Ionen 3-Methyl-5-phenyl- (2) und 3.5-Diphenyl-1.2-dithiolium (3) sowie erstmals auch 3.5-Dimethyl- (1) und 3.5-Dimethyl-4-phenyl-1.2-dithiolium (4) präparativ als Perchlorate dargestellt. Die NMR-spektroskopische Untersuchung von 1 bis 4 beweist nicht nur den aromatischen Charakter der Kationen, sondern zeigt auch bei 1 und 2 eine „long range“-Kopplung zwischen dem H-Atom in 4-Stellung und den Methylprotonen.

Dagegen liefert 4b mit Diphenyldiazomethan 5, 6 liefert 8.  -  Während sich 1-Thio-γ-pyrone bzw. -chromone bei der Behandlung mit Oxalyl- oder Thionylchlorid in die entsprechenden geminalen ChlorideNomenklatur: In dieser und der folgenden Arbeit sind, was Namen und Formelbild betrifft, diese Chloride als geminale Chloride (Carbonylchloride) formuliert worden und nicht als 4-Chlor-pyryliumchloride (A) resp. 2-Chlor-pyryliumchloride (B) (Carbonylchloride) überführen lassen, ist dies nicht möglich bei 1-Thio-α-pyronen bzw. 1-Thio-cumarinen. Dieser Unterschied hat diagnostischen Wert zur Unterscheidung von 1-Thio-α- und 1-Thio-γ-pyronen. Dithio-α- und -γ-pyrone liefern die entsprechenden Carbonylchloride (vgl. Schema 2 und 3). 2.6-Bis-methylmercapto-3.5-diphenyl-1-thio-γ-pyron (10) liefert bei der alkalischen Hydrolyse 11.

    Notes: Metall-pentacarbonyl-blausäure-Komplexe, (OC)5MNCH, lassen sich (für M = Cr und W) aus (OC)5M·THF und reinem HCN herstellen. IR-, UV- und H-NMR-spektroskopische Untersuchungen zeigen, daß HCN über eine M—N-Bindung an das Metallcarbonylbruchstück gebunden ist. Bei der Deprotonierung dieser Komplexsäuren durch Piperidin tritt eine Umlagerung [(OC)5MCN]⊖ → [(OC)5MCN]⊖ auf und es entstehen Piperidiniumsalze mit einem Metall-pentacarbonyl-cyanid-Anion. Die Protonierung dieser Salze führt zu Metall-pentacarbonyl-isoblausäure-Komplexen, (OC)5MCNH.

    Notes: 2.6-Bis-methylmercapto-3.5-diphenyl-1.4-dithio-γ-pyron (4) läßt sich pyrolytisch in das 1.2-Dithio-α-pyron-Derivat 2, überführen. Ebenfalls durch Pyrolyse wird aus 4-Hydroxy-6-mercapto-3.5-diphenyl-1.2-dithio-α-pyron (7, das Bis-thionaphthen-Derivat 8, erhalten. 2 wird auch aus 1 durch Erhitzen mit P4S10 gebildet. Die Übergänge sind im Schema S. 359 zusammengefaßt. Für diese Reaktionen wird ein Mechanismus diskutiert, welcher sie nicht nur mit den schon bekannten Übergängen von 1-Thio-chromonen in 1-Thio-cumarine bzw. mit dem Übergang von Dithiochromonen in Dithiocumarine verknüpft, sondern auch mit zahlreichen anderen Reaktionen, die im Abschnitt „Diskussion der Umlagerungen“ zusammengefaßt sind (vgl. A→Zc).

Benzylidenäther (Dioxole 4).  -  Diazoessigester katalysiert beim Erhitzen mit (kleine Mengen Wasser enthaltendem) Methanol die Umwandlung zu 3-Chlor-2-hydroxy-naphthochinon-(1.4) (15; in Tetrahydrofuran entsteht aus 1, und Diazoessigester bei Zugabe von Aluminiumchlorid das Benzotropolon-Derivat 19; in Benzol ohne Katalysator bildet sich der Dioxol-carbonsäure-ester 17 und ein Benzotropolon-Derivat 18, das sich von 19 durch den Austausch eines Chloratoms gegen einen Phenylrest unterscheidet (unter milden Bedingungen erfolgende Friedel-Crafts-Reaktion des vinylogen Säurechlorids 1).  -  18 wird durch Diazomethan in den Epoxid-methyläther 20 umgewandelt.  -  3-Chlor-naphthochinon-(1.2) (21) addiert bei der Einwirkung von Diazomethan 1 CH2 und 1 CH2N2 zu 22, das mit Acetylchlorid 23 liefert. 4-Chlor-naphthochinon-(1.2) (24) gibt mit Diazomethan nur das Epoxid 25.

    Notes: Für das von Brieskorn und Meister aus Monarda didyma L. isolierte Isosakuranetin-rhamnoglucosid konnte durch hydrolytischen Abbau, Permethylierung, NMR-Spektroskopie und Dehydrierung zum Acacetin-7-rutinosid, die Struktur eines 5.7-Dihydroxy-4′-methoxy-flavanon-7-β-[6-O-α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-d-glucopyranosids] (Isosakuranetin-7-rutinosids) ermittelt werden. Der endgültige Strukturbeweis gelang durch die Synthese aus Isosakuranetin und Acetobromrutinose nach einer modifizierten Koenigs-Knorr-Syntheses. In analoger Weise wurde Isosakuranetin-7-mono-β-d-glucosid (Isosakuranin) dargestellt.

Damit wird erstmalig aus Lösungen ein definiertes Decavanadat isoliert, das weniger als 4 Kationen pro Decavanadat-Ion enthält. Noch basenärmere Decavanadate entstehen bei der Reaktion in Gegenwart von Tetra-n-propyl- bzw. Tetraäthylammoniumhydroxid.  -  Die Verseifung des Vanadinsäureesters in Gegenwart von Tetramethylammoniumhydroxid führt zum Tetramethylammonium-metavanadat [N(CH3)4]VO3.

Thioamiden wird beschrieben.  -  Ein Vergleich der Reaktivitäten zeigt, daß die Aktivierung durch drei zueinander m-ständige Alkoxygruppen im Benzol der Aktivierung durch eine Dialkylaminogruppe entspricht.  -  Durch den abgeschwächten aromatischen Charakter in kondensierten Systemen und nichtbenzoiden Aromaten ist ein elektrophiler Angriff bei diesen Verbindungen erleichtert.

    Notes: Als aromatische Azomethin-imine gehen die Sydnone Cycloadditionen an olefinische Dipolarolphile ein; die Kohlendioxid-Eliminierung ergibt neue, nichtaromatische Azomethin-imine, die durch Protonenverschiebung Δ2-Pyrazoline liefern. 23 Beispiele mit nichtkonjugierten oder phenylkonjungierten Alkenen zeigen die Anwendungsbreite dieser Pyrazolin-Synthese.  -  Die Umsetzungen der Sydnone mit der winkelgespannten Doppelbindung des Acenaphthylens führen zu 1:2-Addukten. Das intermediäre cyclische Azomethin-imin wird dabei von einer zweiten Molekel des Dipolarophils abgefangen.

Aus diesem Gemisch kann 2a, rein isoliert werden, während bei den Corticoid-Isomeren nur eine Anreicherung der 1α.2α;6β.7β-Komponente möglich ist. Bei der Methylenierung von 1 b entsteht nur die 1α.2α;6β.7β-Dimethylen-Verbindung 2 b. Die Zuordnung der Konfiguration der 6.7-Methylengruppen erfolgt durch NMR-Daten.

    Notes: Aus Phenylisocyanat und ( - )-N-[Methyl-phenyl-α-naphthyl-silyl]-methylamin wird unter Si - N-Spaltung und Erhaltung der Konfiguration am Si-Atom (+)-N-[Methyl-phenyl-α-naphthyl-silyl]-N′-methyl-N-phenyl-harnstoff (1 b) erhalten. In benzolischer Lösung kommt es durch intermolekularen Silylgruppenaustausch zu einer langsamen Racemisierung des optisch aktiven Silylharnstoffs (1b ⇌ 1a). Solvolysen von 1 b mit Methanol und Dimethylamin verlaufen unter Umkehrung der Konfiguration. Mit einem Überschuß Phenylisocyanat reagiert 1 b unter N - H-Spaltung und Erhaltung der Konfiguration am Si-Atom weiter zu ( - )-1-[Methyl-phenyl-α-naphthyl-silyl]-3-methyl-1.5-diphenyl-biuret (3a). Dessen Solvolysen mit Methanol und Dimethylamin verlaufen wie die analogen Umsetzungen der Silylamine und -harnstoffe unter Umkehrung der Konfiguration.

    Notes: Peroxide mit γ-ständigem Stickstoff (1, 8, 2, 11) erleiden in Lösung schnelle Zersetzung. Dabei entwickeln die von Benzhydrazid abgeleiteten Peroxide 2 und 11 Stickstoff, während die den Peroxiden 1 und 8 zugrunde liegenden Alkylhydrazine quantitativ entalkyliert werden. Besonders bemerkenswert ist die Bildung von Benzoesäure-methylester aus 2 in Abwesenheit von Methanol. Die Abhängigkeit der Zerfallsgeschwindigkeiten von den Lösungsmitteln sowie von zugesetzten Säuren und Basen deuten auf einen polaren Zerfall nach Art einer Grobschen Fragmentierung.

    Notes: Durch Addition von Chlorwasserstoff oder Chlor an Ketenacetale bei tiefer Temperatur konnten erstmalig Chlordialkoxyalkane mit Sicherheit nachgewiesen werden. Durch Umsetzung mit Alkohol wurden hieraus Orthoester erhalten, Reaktion mit Phosphiten führte zu Dialkoxyalkanphosphonaten.  -  Eine einfache und ergiebige Synthese von Diäthoxymethan-phosphonsäure-diäthylester wurde in der Umsetzung von Orthoameisensäureester mit Phosphortrichlorid gefunden. Auch diese Reaktion verläuft über ein Chlordialkoxymethan.

    Notes: Iminotrimethylphosphoran (1) wurde nach einem einfachen Verfahren erstmals dargestellt. Die Umsetzungen von 1 oder seinem Äthylhomologen mit Dimethylzink oder -cadmium führen zu N-Methylzink(cadmium)-iminotrialkylphosphoranen 3 - 6. Diese Verbindungen bilden wie ihre Siloxan-Isosteren tetramere Moleküle mit Kubanstruktur. Die Addition von Iminotrialkylphosphoranen an Trimethylaluminium, -gallium und -indium ergibt isolierbare 1:1-Komplexe geringer thermischer Stabilität (7 - 11), deren thermische Spaltung die im Prinzip bereits bekannten N-Dimethylmetall-iminotrialkylphosphorane 12 - 19, dimere Verbindungen mit Vierringstruktur, liefert. Das durch Metallierung von 1 erhaltene N-Lithium-Derivat 2 reagiert mit Dimethylchlorphosphin und -arsin unter LiCl-Abspaltung zu N-Dimethylphosphino(arsino)-iminotrimethylphosphoran 20 bzw. 21. Die Quartärisierung von 20 und 21 mit Methyljodid erlaubt die Synthese von Bis-trimethylphosphoranyliden- bzw. Trimethylphosphoranyliden-trimethylarsenyliden-ammoniumjodid (23, 24).

    Notes: Die Untersuchung der Temperaturabhängigkeit der NMR-Spektren zeigt, daß die 2.5-Diphenyl-3.4-diaza-norcaradiene 1 bzw. 3 in einem valenztautomeren Gleichgewicht mit den entsprechenden 2.5-Diphenyl-3.4-diaza-cycloheptatrienen 2 stehen, das aber  -  selbst bei hohen Temperaturen  -  ganz auf der Seite der bicyclischen Tautomeren liegt. Im Falle des 2.5-Diphenyl-7-benzoyl- und des 2.5-Di-tert.-butyl-7-pivaloyl-3.4-diaza-norcaradiens versagt diese Methode, weil hier das trans-konfigurierte Diaza-norcaradien wesentlich stabiler ist als das cis-Isomere. Phenyl-haben gegenüber Alkyl-Gruppen einen beschleunigenden Einfluß auf die Valenztautomerisierung. Einige Reaktionen der Diaza-norcaradiene, insbesondere Umsetzungen mit Dienophilen, werden beschrieben.

    Notes: Tetraalkylierte Äthylene ergeben mit Dihalogencarben nach der Äthylenoxid-Methode nicht die gem. Dihalogen-cyclopropane, sondern unter Ringöffnung und Halogenwasserstoff-Abspaltung in 2-Stellung halogenierte 1.3-Diene. Bei der Reaktion trialkylierter Äthylene mit Haloform/Äthylenoxid können sich je nach Reaktionstemperatur Dihalogen-cyclopropane, 2-Halogen-diene oder Gemische bilden. Dialkylierte gem. Dihalogen-cyclopropane sind in Gegenwart von Äthylenoxid auch bei erhöhten Temperaturen stabil, können aber durch Pyrolyse oder mit Hilfe von Chinolin ebenfalls in 2-Halogen-diene umgewandelt werden.

    Notes: cis-Cyclopropan-dicarbaldehyd-(1.2) gibt bei der Kondensation mit Hydrazin drei isomere Trimere des 3.4-Diaza-norcaradiens mit der Konstitution 15. Das 1.2.5.6-Tetramethyl-3.4-diaza-norcaradien (31) kann nur als Dimeres der Konstitution 32 gefaßt werden. Dagegen liegt das 2.5-Di-tert.-butyl-7-pivaloyl-3.4-diaza-norcaradien (40) monomer vor. Damit ist gezeigt, daß die Stabilität der Diazanorcaradiene durch den Einbau der Stickstoffatome bedingt wird und konjugativ wirkende Reste in 2.5-Stellung keine ausschlaggebende Rolle spielen.

    Notes: Eine Reihe polar substituierter Olefine lieferte mit Haloform und Äthylenoxid in Gegenwart von Tetraalkylammoniumsalzen nicht Dihalogen-cyclopropane, sondern lagerte das Haloform unter Bildung von Trihalogenmethyl-Derivaten an die Doppelbindung an.Während mit Enolestern in guten Ausbeuten α-Trihalogenmethyl-Derivate erhalten wurden, erfolgte beim Acrylnitril, Acrylsäure-methylester und Divinylsulfon der Angriff des Trihalogenmethyl-Anions an dem zur funktionellen Gruppe β-ständigen C-Atom. Reaktionen mit Vinylchlorid und Tetrachloräthylen ergaben Cyclopropan-Derivate, Hexachlor-cyclopentadien setzte sich zu Hexachlorbenzol um.

    Notes: Durch alkalische Spaltung von N-Nitroso-N-cyclopropyl-harnstoff (1) und N-Nitroso-N-[2-phenyl-cyclopropyl]-harnstoff (16) wurden Desaminierungen in Gegenwart stark nucleophiler Reaktionspartner ausgeführt. Allylverbindungen und Cyclopropanderivate entstanden nebeneinander. In deuterierten Lösungsmitteln zeigten alle Produkte übereinstimmenden Deuterium-Einbau. Bei cis-16 und trans-16 verlief sowohl die Ringöffnung als auch die Substitution am Cyclopropanring nicht stereospezifisch. Unsere Befunde sprechen für das intermediäre Auftreten von Cyclopropylkationen.

    Notes: Secalonsäure A und 9 ähnliche Mutterkorn-Farbstoffe, die Ergochrome, welche aus Roggenmutterkorn isoliert und aufgeklärt worden waren, ließen sich auch aus Flüssigkeitskulturen des Mutterkornpilzes Claviceps gewinnen. Nach Verfüttern von [2-14C]-, [1-14C]- und [2-3H]Natriumacetat an Flüssigkeitskulturen eines Claviceps spec. aus Japan wurden radioaktive Ergochrome isoliert und deren Radioaktivitätsverteilung durch Abbau bestimmt. Das Ergebnis steht mit der Annahme in Einklang, daß die Biosynthese der Ergochrome aus Acetateinheiten über Endocrocin (11) oder ein ähnliches Anthrachinon-Derivat und dessen oxydative Ringöffnung erfolgt. Somit handelt es sich bei den Ergochromen um seco-Anthrachinone. [U-14C]Shikimisäure wurde nicht in die Ergochrome eingebaut.

    Notes: Glutardialdehyd läßt sich mit Nitromethan und einem primären oder sekundären Amin (Benzyl- und Dimethylamin) zu Nitrodiaminen (4, 5) cyclisieren. Präparativ ergiebiger ist jedoch die stufenweise Durchführung dieser Reaktion, d. h. die Umsetzung des Glutar-dialdehyd-Nitromethan-Cyclisierungsprodukts 6 mit Aminen, die im Falle stark basischer Amine glatt die entsprechenden Nitrodiamine (4-9) liefert. Weniger geeignet sind schwach basische Amine, wie Anilin und Phenylhydrazin, deren Umsetzungen mit 6 Alkali erfordern. Dies führt zu Gemischen, aus denen die entsprechenden Nitrodiamine (10 bzw. 11) nur in mäßigen Ausbeuten isolierbar sind.  -  Die all-trans-Konfiguration (1r.2t.3c) der Nitrodiamine sowie der durch Hydrierung bzw. Alkoxymethylierung erhaltenen Folgeprodukte ergab sich aus NMR-spektroskopischen Daten.

    Notes: Isothiocyanate reagieren mit Amidacetalen und Aminalestern primär unter Addukt-Bildung in der Regel an der Dialkylamino-Gruppe und nur ausnahmsweise an der Alkoxy-Gruppe. Die Amidacetal-Addukte gehen anschließend eine Protonenwanderung ein unter Ylid-Bildung. Diese können zunächst eine 1.2-Verschiebung erleiden und dann mit einem weiteren Molekül Isothiocyanat reagieren, oder aber zunächst mit einem weiteren Molekül Isothio-cyanat reagieren und dann eine 1.4-Verschiebung erleiden. In beiden Fällen erfolgt Ringschluß unter Alkohol-Abspaltung zu Dithioparabansäure-O.N-acetalen oder  -  im Fall großer Reste R im Isothiocyanat  -  intramolekulare Umalkylierung zu Derivaten des N.N-Dimethyl-acetamids. Das H-Atom des Amidacetals kann demnach elektrophil substituiert werden. Bei den Aminalester-Addukten dagegen unterbleibt die Protonenwanderung, statt dessen erfolgt eine Umalkylierung unter Bildung von Isothioharnstoffen.

Die Zuordnung der 2.4- bzw. 2.5-Di-O-acetyl-Derivate von 6a, b und 7a, b gelang mit Hilfe ihrer Kernresonanzspektren. Die hierbei beobachtete Signalaufspaltung im Bereich um τ = 5.4 ppm ist darauf zurückzuführen, daß die Rotation der 3-O-Benzyl-Gruppe in den D-Glucofuranose-Derivaten sterisch behindert ist.

Das so zugängliche 2-Amino-5-methyl-s-triazolo[1.5-c]chinazolin (3a) wird der Mannich-Reaktion mit Piperidin/Formaldehyd unterworfen; durch Kondensation mit 2 Mol eines aromatischen Aldehyds entstehen 2-Arylidenamino-5-styryl-s-triazolo[1.5-c]chinazoline 13.

    Notes: Bei der Umsetzung der Hexacarbonyle von Chrom, Molybdän und Wolfram mit dem Azid-Ion in Diäthylenglykol-dimethyläther oder THF entstehen die Isocyanatopentacarbonylmetallat-Anionen [Me(CO)5NCO]- (Me = Cr, Mo, W), die auch direkt aus Me(CO)6 und Kaliumcyanat zugänglich sind. Kinetische Untersuchungen  -  am Beispiel der Reaktion von W(CO)6 mit N(C2H5)4N3 in Aceton-Lösung  -  sind mit einem primären nucleophilen Angriff des Azid-Ions am C-Atom einer CO-Gruppe vereinbar; die Umlagerung zum Isocyanat und Abspaltung von Stickstoff dürfte analog wie beim Carbonsäureazidabbau nach Curtius synchron erfolgen.

    Notes: Additionen der Nitrone an Acrylsäureester oder Acrylnitril finden schon bei Raumtemperatur statt und liefern sehr gute Ausbeuten an Isoxazolidin-5-carbonestern bzw. -5-carbonestern bzw. -5-nitrilen. Mit Crotonsäureester, p-Nitro-zimtsäureester und 3.3-Dimethyl-acrylsäureester kehrt sich die Additionsrichtung bezüglich der Carbonester-Gruppe um; diastereomee Isoxazolidin-4-carbonester sind das Resultat. Die Reversibilität dieser Cycloaddition macht die Unterscheidung von kinetischem und thermodynamischem Reaktionsabschluß nötig.

    Notes: Alkalifluoride reagieren mit Thiocarbonylfluorid je nach den Reaktionsbedingungen zu (CSF2)n, F3CSC(F)=S und (F3CS)2C=S. Die beiden letzten Substanzen addieren Chlor bzw. Brom zu den entsprechenden Sulfenylchloriden bzw. -bromiden. Aus Silberpseudohalogeniden und F3CS—C(F)(Cl)—SCI entstehen Sulfenylcyanide, -thiocyanate und -isocyanate. Während (F3CS)2C(Cl)—SCI nicht mit Silberpseudohalogeniden reagiert, setzt sich (CF3)2-C(Cl)—SCI zwar nicht mit AgOCN, aber mit AgSCN und AgCN zu (CF3)2C(Cl)—S—SCN und (CF3)2C(Cl)—SCN um. Die synthetisierten Verbindungen wurden 19F-NMR- und IR-spektroskopisch untersucht.

    Notes: Die photochemische Umsetzung substituierter Stilbene zu Phenanthrenen wurde in Cyclohexan in Gegenwart von Luftsauerstoff bei Raumtemperatur gemessen. Daraus wurden die Quantenausbeuten der Photocyclisierung von p- und m-substituierten cis-Stilbenen 2 zu den 4a.4b-Dihydro-phenanthrenen 3 berechnet. p-Substituenten mit stark positiven oder negativen mesomeren Effekten verringern die Quantenausbeute. Die Quantenausbeuten der m-substituierten cis-Stilbene zeigen einen linearen Verlauf mit den Hammettschen σp-Werten, wobei elektronenspendende Substituenten die größten Werte aufweisen.  -  Die Quantenausbeuten des photochemischen Zerfalls p- und m-substituierter Diazonium-Salze zeigen den gleichen Verlauf mit den Hammettschen σp-Werten.
