    Description: Vorbemerkung Beim Schreiben dieses Artikels, der auf Veränderungen der Kommunikations- und Publikationstechniken und ihre Bedeutung hinweist, ist uns mehr als je zuvor bewusst geworden, wie beschränkt das Medium Papier ist. Es gibt z. B. keine Hyperlinks, durch die man unmittelbar das Erwähnte erleben oder überprüfen kann. Ein schneller Wechsel vom Wort zum Bild, zum Ton oder Video ist nicht möglich. Wer will schon lange URLs abtippen und Medienbrüche erleiden? Wir haben uns daher entschlossen, eine textidentische Version dieses Artikels mit allen URLs – sie liegt Ihnen hier vor – elektronisch anzubieten und in der für die "Gegenworte" (BBAW) gekürzten Fassung nur durch [URL] anzudeuten, dass der Leser an dieser Stelle einfach in der elektronischen Version einen Klick ins Internet machen sollte.     Ergebnisse aus dem BVB-KOBV-Entwicklungsprojekt "Literaturverwaltungsprogramme": Handreichung für Bibliotheken (2009)

    Description: Zwischen dem Bibliotheksverbund Bayern (BVB) und dem Kooperativen Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (KOBV) besteht seit Ende 2007 eine Strategische Allianz, die auf zwei Säulen beruht: einer langfristigen Entwicklungspartnerschaft einerseits und der Kooperation im Dienstleistungsbereich mit der Integration der Verbundkataloge andererseits. Ende 2008 wurde das erste Entwicklungsprojekt "Literaturverwaltungsprogramme" abgeschlossen, dessen Ergebnisse in dieser Handreichung in Form von Handlungsempfehlungen für Bibliotheken vorgestellt werden. Ziel des Projekts war es, den Datenaustausch zwischen den Bibliotheks- und Verbundkatalogen des BVB und KOBV und gängigen Literaturverwaltungsprogrammen zu optimieren. Neben Handlungsempfehlungen für die Implementierung neuer Exportschnittstellen und die Verbesserung bestehender Exportmöglichkeiten werden Hinweise auf verbesserte Nutzerführung gegeben. Die Empfehlungen beziehen sich vorwiegend auf den Datenaustausch zwischen den Bibliothekssystemen Aleph 500, MetaLib und WebOPAC/InfoGuide und den Literaturverwaltungsprogrammen Citavi, EndNote, RefWorks und Zotero.

    Zum Nutzen des Web 2.0 für „Die kleine Kollaboration“ in den Wissenschaften (2009)

    Description: Gemeinsame Web-Auftritte zu organisieren, die sich über mehrere Institutionen und Fachgebiete erstrecken, ist eine anspruchsvolle und faszinierende Aufgabe, die auf verschiedene Weise gelingen, aber auch scheitern kann. Wer sich daran versucht, tut gut daran, sich über bestimmte Prinzipien und technische Mittel zu informieren, die das fortgeschrittene Web ihm heute bietet. Das Internet, das World Wide Web und das moderne Web 2.0 sind in einer fast zwanzig Jahre dauernden Kollaboration einer globalen Gemeinschaft von Entwicklern und Anwendern entstanden. Es enthält heute eine Fülle sofort einsetzbarer Komponenten, von der „Benutzerdefinierten Google-Suche Beta“ mit Google‘s PageRanking auf ausgewählten Web-Seiten bis hin zum automatisierten Web-Server mit Content-Management für das „Mitmach-Web“. Der Artikel stellt nur eine kleine Auswahl solcher Lösungen vor und macht den Versuch, einige Prinzipien des Web 2.0 so herauszuarbeiten, dass die notwendige Kommunikation zwischen Managern, Technikern, Redakteuren und Organisatoren in der kleinen Kollaboration unterstützt wird. „Kleine Kollaboration“ bedeutet hier, dass es nicht um die globale Vernetzung von technischen Großgeräten der e-Science gehen soll, auch nicht um die Super-Suchmaschine in Europa, sondern um die Unterstützung der Zusammenarbeit und Kommunikation von Wissenschaftlern und Museumsfachleuten mit Ihren Nutzern.

    Automatisierte Fernleihe im KOBV - Handbuch für Bibliotheken - 3. Auflage (2009)

    Description: Im Kooperativen Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (KOBV) wird für die automatisierte Fernleihe der Zentrale-Fernleihserver (ZFL-Server) der Firma Sisis eingesetzt. Die Software ist in der KOBV-Zentrale installiert. Der ZFL-Server dient im KOBV sowohl für die Bestellung von Monographien als auch für die Bestellung von Aufsatzkopien aus Zeitschriften. Prinzipiell gibt es zwei Verfahren, mit denen sich Bibliotheken an der automatisierten Fernleihe beteiligen können: das E-Mail-Verfahren und das SLNP-Verfahren. Auf beide wird im Handbuch eingegangen. Die automatisierte Fernleihe wurde im KOBV eingeführt, um die Fernleihe für die Benutzer zu beschleunigen, das Verfahren für die Bibliotheksmitarbeiter zu vereinfachen und den Arbeitsaufwand zu reduzieren. Sie basiert darauf, dass eine Bestellung anhand eines gefundenen Treffers ausgelöst wird – d.h. die bibliographischen Daten sind bereits verifiziert und in einem Katalog nachgewiesen. Anschließend wird die Bestellung über den ZFL-Server automatisch ausgeführt und verwaltet – sowohl in der regionalen KOBV-Fernleihe als auch in der verbundübergreifenden Fernleihe mit den deutschen Bibliotheksverbünden. Der ZFL-Server besteht aus verschiedenen technischen Komponenten. Eine dieser Komponenten ist das Bibliothekskonto, eine Internetanwendung, in der die Bestellverwaltung des ZFL-Servers für die Bibliotheksbediensteten transparent abläuft. Dazu hat jede Bibliothek im Bibliothekskonto eine eigene, Passwort-geschützte Dienstoberfläche. Im Laufe des Jahres 2009 hat die KOBV-Zentrale das Bibliothekskonto grundlegend überarbeitet; die neue Version wurde im September 2009 freigegeben. Neben der Überabeitung des Interfaces – so wird den Bibliotheken auf der Startseite nun eine Übersicht ihrer laufenden Bestellungen angezeigt und dient als direkter Einstieg in die Bearbeitung – wurde das Bibliothekskonto um folgende Funktionen erweitert: Bestellung zurücklegen (HOLD), Vormerkungen, Bestellungen zur Anfrage, Abbruch des Leitweges (auch verbundübergreifend), erweiterte Kommentarfunktion, Bestellnummernsuche in allen Verbünden. Das Handbuch, das die Vorgänge der Bestellverwaltung im Bibliothekskonto beschreibt, wurde in der nun vorliegenden 3. Auflage um die Beschreibung der neuen Funktionen ergänzt.     Description: The Cooperative Library Network Berlin-Brandenburg (KOBV), Germany, addresses the problem of how to integrate resources found outside the library and library holdings into a single discovery tool. It presents a solution that uses open source technology to develop a next-generation catalog interface called the Library Search Engine. This pilot project was launched in 2007 with the library of Albert Einstein Science Park, Potsdam. The idea was to design and develop a fast and convenient search tool, integrating local holdings (books, journals, journal articles) as well as relevant scientific subject information such as open access publications and bibliographies.

    Description: Wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken sind Vermittler von digitalen Medieninhalten. Sie müssen ihren Nutzern einen Zugang zu ihnen ermöglichen. Digitales Rechte Management (DRM), eingesetzt von den Verlagen, soll Nutzung und Zugang kontrollieren. Bibliotheken stehen DRM daher misstrauisch gegenüber, da dieses als Gefahr für die Wissenschaft und ihre (digitalen) Bibliotheken gesehen wird. Nur eine effektive Auseinandersetzung der wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken mit der jeweiligen Politik der Verlage und den Verfahrensweisen bei DRM ermöglicht es ihnen, ihre Rolle als Vermittler und 'Gedächtnis der Menschheit' auch weiterhin erfolgreich wahrnehmen zu können. Unbestritten ist, dass DRM in seiner restriktiven Form die tägliche Arbeit der Bibliotheken erschwert. Deshalb müssen sie sich aktiv an der Standardisierung, der Entwicklung von Nutzungskonzepten und der Gestaltung der Rahmenbedingungen beteiligen.
    Description: Academic libraries are mediators of digital content. They have to ensure access for their patrons. Digital Rights Management (DRM), used by publishers, should control access and usage. Libraries mistrust DRM, because it is seen as a danger to scholarship, sciences and their (digital) libraries. Libraries only can persist as the 'archive of all human knowledge' if they start an effective controversy about the publishers' policies and if they know how DRM works. It is uncontentious that the restrictive form of DRM will complicate the everyday work of libraries. Therefore they have to engage in the prozess of standardization, in the development of concepts of usage and in the definition of general conditions of DRM.

    Asymptotic Scale Analysis of Precipitating Clouds (2008)

    Description: Asymptotic analyses of the three dimensional compressible flow equations coupled with transport equations for the mixing ratios of water vapour, cloud water and rain water are described. We obtain reduced systems of equations for two particular regimes of length and time scales: Models for the long time evolution of deep convective columns and for the short time evolution of shallow convective layers. The asymptotic deep convective column model is anelastic, yet the vertical motion is pressure free, i.e., it evolves freely in interaction with buoyancy while the horizontal divergence adjusts to fullfil the anelastic constraint. The perturbation pressure guaranteeing compliance with the horizontal divergence constraint obeys a Poisson-type equation. Surprisingly, the vertical velocity plays an important role in the horizontal dynamics through the Coriolis term. The vertical acceleration in a saturated column is directly determined by the buoyancy induced by potential temperature differences relative to the background stratification. This potential temperature deviation is a conserved quantity. Evaporation is the only important microphysical process in the undersaturated regime. The evaporation rate depends on the saturation deficit and the amount of rain water present and determines the (downward) vertical velocity and the distribution of water vapour. To connect the deep convective column solutions to top and bottom boundary conditions, a different flow regime needs to be accounted for. Within shallow layers whose depth is comparable to the column diameters, adjustment to physical boundary conditions can take place. This is the second regime considered in this report. The shallow convective layer regime is shown to be asymptotically described by Boussinesq-type equations. These equations are closed by evolution equations which show that, in the saturated regime, the distributions of potential temperature and cloud water are determined by a condensation rate that is directly proportional to the vertical velocity. In the undersaturated regime, the potential temperature distribution is determined by the amount of rain present, since the water vapour in this case is shown to be a conserved quantity. In both regimes the distribution of rain water depends on the rain water flux.

    Plausibility Check of an Asymptotic Column Model for Deep Convective Clouds (2008)

    Description: By use of asymptotic analysis Carqué et al. [ZIB-Report 08-03] derived an asymptotic column model for deep convective clouds based on the three dimensional compressible flow equations and a bulk microphysics parameterization. In the present study we check the plausibility of the reduced model equations by comparing implications of the model for the scaling of various terms in the governing equations with those extracted from large eddy simulation data based on the computational model UCLA-LES1.1. This code solves an anelastic system of equations with complete droplet based microphysics and LES closures. We observe that the simulation data corroborate the basic assumptions of the asymptotic analysis and the main conclusions implied by the asymptotically reduced model. The code output reflects the scales of space and time: The deep convective clouds show an anisotropic structure where the horizontal scale is considerably narrower than the vertical scale; with a period of about 20 min, from emergence to breakup, the life cycle of one particular deep convective cloud corresponds exactly to the reference time of the reduced model. The characteristic properties of dynamics as predicted by the reduced model are also reflected in the simulation data: The horizontal flow is controlled by the pressure field; the vertical velocity develops freely independent of pressure over the depth of the convective column; the vertical velocity is directly determined by the buoyancy induced by the potential temperature deviation relative to the background stratification. With respect to grid resolution we observe that refining the spatial step size of the equidistant computational grid from 125 m to 62.5 m does not influence the results: Even with the coarser grid the relevant physical phenomena are sufficiently resolved. Somewhat surprisingly, the Coriolis term involving vertical velocity and acting on the horizontal (east-west) velocity component appears at leading order in the asymptotics. Accordingly, we expected to find a nontrivial impact of this Coriolis effect on the horizontal flow velocity components within columns of updrafts. However, switching the term on and off in subsequent simulations did not sizeably affect the results.

    Buoyancy-reversal in cloud-top mixing layers (2008)

    Description: A theoretical and numerical small-scale study of the evaporative cooling phenomenon that might appear in the stratocumulus-topped boundary layers is presented. An ideal configuration of a cloud-top mixing layer is considered as defined by two nonturbulent horizontal layers, stably stratified and with buoyancy reversal within a certain range of mixture fractions due to the evaporative cooling. Linear stability analysis of the shear-free configuration is employed to provide a new interpretation of the buoyancy reversal parameter, namely, in terms of a time-scale ratio between the unstable and the stable modes of the system. An incompressible high-order numerical algorithm to perform direct numerical simulation of the configuration is described and two-dimensional simulations of single-mode perturbations are discussed. These simulations confirm the role of the different parameters identified in the linear stability analysis and show that convoluted flow patterns can be generated by the evaporative cooling even for the low levels of buoyancy reversal found in stratocumulus clouds. They also show that there is no enhancement of entrainment of upper layer fluid in the shear-free configuration, and mixing enhancement by the evaporative cooling is restricted to the lower layer.

    Die Wissenschaftsgalaxis: Wie soll die zukünftige wissenschaftliche Informationsversorgung aussehen? (2007)

    Description: Wissenschaftler sind an qualitativ hochwertiger Information interessiert, selten an Informationsversorgung selbst. Es ist ihnen in Fragen der Organisation meistens egal, von welchem Versorger sie das Material, das sie benötigen, bekommen. Sie wollen einfach nur alles, was sie brauchen, jederzeit, überall, sofort und möglichst kostengünstig oder gar kostenlos haben. Im Prinzip ist das möglich. Seit mindestens zehn Jahren werden so gut wie alle wissenschaftlichen Dokumente (Artikel, Messdaten,…) elektronisch erstellt. Eigentlich bräuchte man diese nur ins Internet zu stellen, und damit wäre alles verfügbar. Irgendwie funktioniert diese einfache Idee nicht so richtig, obwohl viele Anstrengungen von den verschiedensten Einrichtungen und Individuen unternommen werden, z. B. durch Open-Access-Bemühungen. Was sind die Gründe dafür? Die Fortschritte beim schnellen Zugriff auf Information im Internet sind atemberaubend (siehe Google), dennoch ist der zielgerichtete Zugriff auf wissenschaftlich relevante Information weiterhin nur oberflächlich vorhanden. Die Hindernisse sind vielfältiger Natur: Bequemlichkeit und Unwissen der Autoren, Gewohnheiten der Nutzer und Informationsvermittler, Barrieren durch Copyrights und Verlagsstrategien, Eitelkeiten. In diesem Artikel werden einige der Probleme erläutert, die dem Traum des Aufbaus der wissenschaftlichen Universalbibliothek entgegenstehen. Gleichzeitig wird skizziert, wie man auf dem Weg zur Verwirklichung des Traums ein Stück vorankommen und wie die zukünftige wissenschaftliche Informationsversorgung gestaltet werden kann.

    Description: Bereits seit den siebziger Jahren katalogisieren Bibliotheken arbeitsteilig in Verbünden. Allerdings macht die Kooperation bislang oftmals an den Grenzen traditionell gewachsener Verbundstrukturen halt. Das ist ein Grund dafür, dass in Deutschland und Österreich das gleiche Buch im schlimmsten Fall an zahlreichen Stellen gleichzeitig katalogisiert wird, ohne dass der eine von der Arbeit des anderen profitiert. In dem folgenden Report werden erstmals konkrete Schritte beschrieben, die eine verteilte Katalogisierung über Verbundgrenzen hinweg verbessern. Dazu gehören Vereinbarungen für die Indexierung und die Suche über Z39.50, Regeln für gegenseitige Datenlieferungen und nicht zuletzt die Einführung einer eindeutigen Identifikationsnummer, die die erstkatalogisierende Institution vergibt. Der vorliegende Artikel ist ein vorläufiger Zwischenbericht der von der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verbundsysteme eingesetzten Arbeitsgruppe „Kooperative Neukatalogisierung“.

Das Bibliothekskonto ist damit für die Bibliothek ein komfortables Instrument zum Überwachen der Fernleihbestellungen, in dem sie zudem – falls notwendig – in den Bestellvorgang eingreifen kann. Dazu hat jede Bibliothek im Bibliothekskonto eine eigene, Passwort-geschützte Dienstoberfläche. Das vorliegende Handbuch beschreibt die Vorgänge der Bestellverwaltung im Bibliothekskonto. Es richtet sich an Bibliotheksmitarbeiter, die sich mit den einzelnen Arbeitsschritten der Online-Fernleihe vertraut machen wollen. Darüber hinaus ist es zum Nachschlagen gedacht, wenn sich in der täglichen Arbeit Unklarheiten ergeben.

    Notes: Ausgehend vom α- und β-Mehtyl-D-galactosid-〈1,5〉 wurden jeweils auf zwei Wegen der α- und der β-Methyl-D-idomethylosid-〈1,5〉-3-methyläther bereitet. Das β-Derivat kristallisierte. Saure Hydrolyse der beiden Stoffe gab freien D-Idomethylose-3-methyläther als Sirup. Es liess sich ein krist. Osazon daraus gewinnen, womit alle vier theoretisch möglichen Osazone der Hexamethylose-3-methyläther der D-Reihe bekannt sind.

    Notes: Die Samen von Strophanthus caudatus (Burm. ex L.) Kurz gaben nach Einwirkung des wasserlöslichen Teils der darin enthaltenen Fermente ein Glykosidgemisch. Aus den äther- und chloroform löslichen Anteilen dieses Gemisches liess sich durch Adsorptionschromatographie als Hauptglykosid krist. Caudosid (0,246%) isolieren. Die Mutterlaugen gaben nach Trennung durch Verteilungschromatographie noch etwas krist. Divaricosid (0,031%). Neben diesen zwei Stoffen wurden noch kleine Mengen „Nebenprodukt H“ isoliert, das kein digitaloides Lacton darstellt, sowie Spuren „Kristallisat G“ und „Kristallisat J“. Die zwei letztgenannten Stoffe stellen wahrscheinlich digitaloide Lactone dar, doch ist ihre Reinheit unsicher.

    Notes: It is shown that LiAIH4 reduces cyclic imides, namely 3,3-disubstituted 2,5-dioxo-pyrrolidines and 2,6-dioxo-piperidines, primarily at the oxo-group not adjacent to the two substituents. Hydroxylactames are formed as the first reduction products. Similarly, the same oxygen atom is replaced by sulfur by reaction with P2S5. This behaviour is ascribed to steric hindrance.

    Notes: As an example of aminolysis of amides, the reaction between acetanilide and o-anisidine has been studied with special reference to the catalytic action of acids. In the case of a weak acid, the rate of aminolysis increases continuously as the concentration of the catalyzing acid is increased; on the other hand, in the case of a strong acid, the rate passes through a maximum value. A mechanism for aminolysis of amides, consistent with these facts, is suggested.

    Notes: Durch Kondensation von 2-Methyl-1,4-naphtohydrochinon mit synthetischem Isophytol wurde mittels Bortrifluoridätherat als Kondensationsmittel ein Vitamin K1 mit racemischer Seitenkette gewonnen. Dieses totalsynthetische racemische Vitamin K1 unterscheidet sich nur geringfügig vom Vitamin K1 mit optisch einheitlicher Phytylseitenkette. Die Verbindungen zeigen gleiche UV.- und IR.-Absorptionsspektren, und sie unterscheiden sich nicht im oxydativen Abbau. Sie besitzen am Vitamin-K-Mangelkücken und am Kaninchen mit Dicumarol-Hypoprothrombinämie die gleiche biologische Wirksamkeit.

Es konnten Anhaltspunkte dafür gewonnen werden, dass dieser Verbindung die Konstitution eines 7,8-ungesättigten 9-Oxy-ergostan-Derivates IV zukommt. Die beiden Oxydationsprodukte stellen Zwischenstufen bei der Dehydrierung von α-Dihydroergosterin-acetat (II) mit Selendioxyd zu Ergosterin B3 (III) und Ergosterin-D-acetat (I) dar.

Cette méthode utilise le diagramme de solubilité du système quaternaire Ca++—NH4+—H+—NO3-—H2O et des diagrammes indiquant la solubilité du phosphate monocalcique dans des solutions aqueuses de Ca(NO3)2 + NH4NO3 + HNO3.

    Notes: Rats with a thoracic duct fistula absorb vitamin A and β-carotene very poorly in the total absence of bile from the intestine. Administration of taurocholic acid improves the degree of absorption but fails to raise it to its normal level. It was demonstrated in vitro that small quantities of bilirubin and biliverdin exert a stabilizing action towards vitamin A. Consequently, it may be assumed that the bile pigments play the same role in vivo, serving as natural antioxidants which protect easily oxidizable substances from destruction in the intestinal tract.

    Notes: Die Isolierung der wichtigsten Glykoside der Samen von Acokanthera friesiorum Markgr. aus Kenya wird beschrieben. Die Samen enthielten als Hauptkomponente ca. 1,7 % des bekannten Acovenosid A. Daneben liessen sich aber auch etwa 0,l% Ouabain isolieren sowie kleine Mengen von Acolongiflorosid E, Acolongiflorosid G, Acolongiflorosid H, Acolongiflorosid-K-Acetat und ein Kristallisat, das als „Kristallisat Nr. 4“ bezeichnet wird und das ein Gemisch dar-stellt. Durch Verteilungschromatographie liess es sich in 3 Komponenten zerlegen, von denen eine rnit Acolongiflorosid E identisch war, während die zwei anderen neue Glykoside darstellten, die als Acofriosid L und Acofriosid M bezeichnet werden. - Fur einen Abbau war nicht genügend von diesen zwei Stoffen in reiner Form vorhanden, hingegen wurde die Spaltung von „Kristallisat Nr. 4“ mit HClin Aceton durchgeführt. Das in diesem Gemisch erhaltene Acolongiflorosid E blieb dabei weitgehend unverändert. Als Spaltprodukte wurden ein neuer krist. Zucker erhalten, den wir Acofriose (V) nennen, sowie 3,5-Dianhydro-periplogenin (VI), das sich zum Vergleich auch teilsynthetisch aus Periplogenin bereiten liess. Wir vermuten, dass diese zwei Spaltstücke aus Acofriosid L stammen, so dass sich fur dieses Glykosid eine Teilformel aufstellen liess.

    Notes: Diluted human saliva in an ammonia buffer solution and in presence of CoII gives three catalytic waves, whilst blood serum, under the same conditions, gives only two waves. Saliva presents the first two waves only in the presence of CoII, but the third wave appears in buffer solution with or without CoII. After denaturation with potassium hydroxyde under the given conditions the third wave disappears completely, whilst the first and the second waves augment. Saliva changes its properties when kept; the stability of the waves is diminished in regressive order from h, to h,. After simple dialysis the second and third waves disappear, whilst the first wave does not change. After electrodialysis during two and a half hours, the first wave disappears, but the third wave is hardly changed. The water used for the simple dialysis has also been examined under the polarograph; this gave only the second and the third waves, but the behaviour of the third wave with or without CoII is quite different from the behaviour of h, taken from a saliva which has not been dialysed. By addition of cystine or cysteine to the saliva, the third wave increases when CoII is present, but it decreases in the absence of this ion.

Durch Kondensation dieser Dialdehyde mit primären aliphatischen Aminen und Acetondicarbonsäure sind in der vorliegenden Arbeit eine grössere Zahl von 6-Alkoxy-tropinonen aufgebaut worden (siehe Tabelle 1).

Auf Grund von physikalischen und chemischen Eigenschaften wird die Stereochemie dieser Verbindungen diskutiert.

    Notes: Aus dem Calebassen-alkaloid Fluorocurin C20H25O2N2⊕, einem Indoxylderivat, wurde durch Reduktion mit NaBH4 Hydro-fluorocurin C20H27O2N2⊕ erhalten, welches durch Säuren sehr leicht in das Indolderivat Mavacurin C20H25ON2⊕ übergeht. Mavacurin, ein Calebassen-alkaloid, haben wir auch in Rinde von Strychnos toxifera gefunden. Die Überführung von Fluorocurin in Mavacurin gelang auch direkt durch Reduktion ersterer Verbindung mit Zink und Schwefelsäure. Durch thermische Spaltung wurde Fluorocurin in Norfluorocurin C19H22O2N2 übergeführt; letzteres lässt sich durch Reduktion mit NaBH4 oder LiAlH4 in Norhydro-fluorocurin C19H24O2N2 verwandeln, das seinerseits durch Methylierung in Hydro-fluorocurin C20H27O2N2⊕ und durch H-Ionen in Normavacurin C19H22ON2 übergeht. Methylierung des Normavacurins liefert Mavacurin.

    Notes: Vier 3,6-Anhydro-hexose-phenylosotriazole, die aus Diels'schen Anhydro-hexose-phenylosazonen zugänglich sind, wurden mit Perjodsäure oxydiert. Als Oxydationsprodukte wurden optisch aktive Dialdehyd-hydrate in antipoden Formen und in kristallisiertem Zustand isoliert. Die Dialdehyd-hydrate, deren Konstitution durch Derivate und Abbauprodukte gesichert wurde, ermöglichten auf einfachstem Wege eine konfigurative Verknüpfung des asymmetrischen C-Atoms 3 der 3,6-Anhydro-triazole und bestätigten unsere früheren Konfigurationsbestimmungen. Acetylierung der Dialdehyd-hydrate führte unter Aufhebung der Asymmetrie ohne Verlust von C-Atomen zu einem für sämtliche 3,6-Anhydro-hexose-phenyloso-triazole gemeinsamen Monoacetyl-Derivat, für welches eine Acetoxy-1,4-dioxen-Struktur weitgehend bewiesen wurde.

    Notes: A simple and accurate volumetric method for the determination of fluorine is described. The titration is carried out in 50% methanol solution, using standard cerous chloride solution as titrant and murexide as indicator. Stoichiometric results are obtained with solutions containing 1 to 10 mg F. The method is suitable for titrating the distillates collected in the Willard-Winter steam distillation of fluosilicic acid.

    Notes: UV spectra of nicotinamide in dilute aqueous solutions of hydrochloric acid (4 · 10-4-m. -0,1-m.) and in alkaline solution were mea-sured at 20°. The ionisation constants of nicotinamide for different ionic strengths were calculated from the experimental data. The ionic strength was varied by addition of potassium chloride. Linear extra-polation of pK to zero ionic strength gave a value of pK0=3,328 (± 0,010) for the thermodynamic ionisation exponent at 20°.

    Notes: Using isotopic tracer methods, we have established which C and N atoms of the uric acid molecule are incorporated into oxonic acid (allantoxanic acid) and allantoxaidine. These two alkaline oxidation products do not contain the original imidazole ring of uric acid. Symmetrical triazine structures are proposed to replace the generally accepted imidazolidine formulas.

    Notes: Es wird uber die Synthese von bisher unbekannten Nortropinon-und 6-Alkoxy -nortropinon-Derivaten berichtet, die am Stickstoffatom einen aromatischen oder heterozyklischen Rest tragen. Diese Tropinone wurden zu den entsprechenden Tropinen reduziert und diese durch Veresterung rnit aromatischen Säuren in die entsprechenden Tropeine bzw. 6-Alkoxy-tropeine übergeführt. Die Verbindungen dieser Reihe sind sowohl fur sterische Untersuchungen, wie im Hinblick auf ihre pharmakodynamischen Eigenschaften von Interesse.

Das N-Formyl-halbacetal wurde zum N-Formyl-nor-ψ-tropin abgebaut. Die aus p-Nitrobenzaldehyd und Anisaldehyd rnit Nor-ψ-tropin hergestellten Tetrahydro-oxazine wurden als Pikrate charakterisiert. Ferner wurden Umsetzungen des Nor-ψ-tropins mit Oxalylchlorid, des Nor-tropins mit p-Nitrobenzaldehyd und der Nor-ψ-tropin-phenyl- und -p-nitrophenyl-tetrahydro-oxazine mit Methyljodid beschrieben.

An 89-proz. verestertem Pek-tin und Apfelsaft wurde fur Pektinase, die cc- und @-Pektinglykosidase (PG) enthielt, ein Wirkungsoptimum bei pH 5,5 gefunden (or-PG). An niedrig (50-proz.) verestertem Pektin zeigte sich mit demselben PG-Gemisch ein Optimum bei pH 3,5 (b-PG).

    Notes: Die Samen von Dregea volubilis (L.) Benth ex Hook. erwiesen sich als recht glykosidreich, doch stiess die Isolierung reiner Stoffe auf Schwierigkeiten. Durch Verteilung zwischen Wasser und organischen Lösungsmitteln, teilweise unter Verwendung des Reagens T von Girard & Sandulesco sowie durch Chromatographie an Al2O3 liessen sich vier verschiedene Glykosidpräparate erhalten, die als „Drevoside A, B, C und D“ bezeichnet wurden. Alle vier Präparate waren aber amorph und nicht einheitlich. Das Gemisch zeigte bei der biologischen Prüfung keine digitalisartige Wirkung, auch das gereinigte „Drevosid A“ war unwirksam.

    Notes: A five-step synthesis of DL-erythro-2-acetamino-octadecan-1,3-diol (IXb) from palmitoic acid was realised. Palmitoic acid was converted into 2-bromo-palmitoylbrornide (11), this, in turn, condensed with ethyl diazoacetate into ethyl 2-diazo-3-oxo-4-bromostearate (IV), which furnished on hydrogenolysis the hydrochloride of ethyl 2-amino-3-oxo-stearate (Vb). - The N-acetyl derivative X of the latter afforded by the action of LiBH, N-acetyl-2-amino-l,3-octadecandiol (IXb) in 26% yield based upon palmitoic acid.
