The Acylation of GlycolurilsThe acylation of glycoluril with carboxylic anhydrides gives 1,3,4,6-tetraacyl- or 1,4-diacyl-glycolurils, depending on the molar ratio. The reaction is catalysed especially by strong Brönsted acids. In analogy to glycoluril the N-alkyl-, 7,8-dialkyl(diaryl)- and 1,4-diacylglycolurils react with carboxylic anhydrides to form the corresponding 1,3-dialkyl-4,6-diacyl-, 1,4-dialkyl-3,6-diacyl-, 1-alkyl-3,4,6-triacyl-, 7,8-dialkyl(diaryl)-1,4-diacyl-glycolurils and mixed tetraacylated glycolurils. In the acylation of 7,8-diphenyl-glycoluril catalysed by base 1,3-diacylglycoluril is obtained besides 1,4-diacyl-7,8-diphenylglycoluril.
Notes:
