“cis-Trioxa-tris-a-homobenzene” Synthesis and (02s + a2s + a2s]-CycloreversionThe stereoisomeric dibromides 11a - 13a are obtained in 70 - 80% yield as a 59:5:36 mixture by two-fold NBS-bromination (CCI,) of 4,5-epoxycyclohexene (9). These can be quantitatively equilibrated in the presence of tetraalkylammoniumbromides, the composition being selectively controlled by the polarity of the solvent, and can be isolated pure in preparative quantities by fractional crystallisation. Halogen exchange (tetrabutylammoniumchloride/1,2,4-tris(chloromethyl)-benzene) allows the preparation of the corresponding dichlorides 11b - 13b as well. The 'H- and 13C-NMR data of 11a, b - 13a, b are interpreted in terms of the same preferred conformations (closed boat), cis-Trioxa-tris-o-homobenzene (“cis-benzenetrioxide”) 3, the 1,2 : 3,4 : 5,6-trianhydro-cis-inositol, not found in nature, is then available simply and in good yield (up to 59% from cyclohexa-1,4-diene (8) starting from 13a by cis-hydroxylation (66-82% 14a + 15a) and two-fold epoxide formation (excess sodium glycolate/THF 93%, excess DBN/THF quantitative). The intermediate 1,2: 3,4-dianhydro-epi-inositol derivative (15a) can be specifically isolated using DBN/THF with mild conditions. Between 400 and 550°C (vapor phase) the planar (x-ray) 3 is practically quantitatively isomerised to the 1,4,7-trioxonin (22). The latter probably prefers the saddle (C,) conformation 22c and then remains flexible down to -90°C. The 3 0 3n-isomerisation 3 → 22 is classified as [σ2s + σ2s + σ2s]-cycloreversion reaction with the trishomobenzenoid transition state 32. Alternative non-cooperative mechanism, e. g. via 33, are excluded on the basis of the kinetic data estimated with the help of several models (4, 36 and 39).
Notizen:
